- This funny reveal is another example of how at lower stakes sometimes an out of position player will make what looks like a strong bet just because they have to act first and don't know what to do. If they were in position they would likely take a safe check back. Bart recommends deviating from the standard flop call to a check raise in this scenario by fast playing which would have both ensured getting max value and removed the possibility of an incorrect fold later in the hand.

@@mattfinnis9960 a great example of why no one wants to hear a bad beat story at the table. Most of the time I see cracked aces the losing hand was totally misplayed.

A guy I play with at home games would play AA exactly like this.
He loves limping it preflop thinking he’s being so clever but then postflop just plays it like it’s the absolute nuts almost regardless of the the board.
Guys that play aces that way are hysterical, and every home game in the country has a guy who plays them exactly like that. It’s like a mental block that they have that “it’s aces! It’s the best hand, it had to be good!” I feel like they almost masochistically enjoy getting shown the bad news and losing to garbage two pair that they let get into the pot so they can pout and have everyone agree that it was a bad beat.

On the flop only hands I would be concerned with are T7 of spades, and one combo of 22, as I expect 77 and TT to raise preflop. As for villians strategy: the limp preflop is horrible as you dont want to go 6 ways to a flop with AA which will likely happen with just the SB and BB to act. On the flop raise seems fine, but on turn vs two calls I would start to slow down a lot when 98 gets in and sets+two pairs are viable parts of both other players ranges. River jam is obviously horrendous, so needless to say SB played most streets of this hand terribly.
I think spews due to not wanting to face tough decisions is a pretty common leak.
It is. Not sure that's what this is though. He was trapping pre flop and just didn't know how to flip the switch when plan A busted.

I doubted villian's strength mostly because they kept showing it on a board with changing nuts. However I think you save a lot of painful thinking by simply re-raising this flop in the first place.
Not through this yet, but if SB has 89cc then I would totally check raise the flop at a small sizing just to build the pot for my advantage later in the hand when one of my billion outs hits.

It was driving me crazy through the entire video that nobody was suggesting he had an overpair.
This kind of play is why I argue it's very possible to make 20+BB an Hr playing small stakes right now if you can find the right room. Basically, that room needs to have 20+ tables and be located in an area that is flush with cash. Northern Ill. has some cardrooms that are very soft and very profitable.

Knew it was gonna be AA due to the video title as it's clearly the funniest result :) Had this been an EP limp I'd include AA as a heavy part of the range on the pf Cr, it's a bit unreal from the SB though. Still the line he took is typical of someone who plays AA this way. They do it in the first place because they're afraid of not getting action with it, then they see it as the nuts on all flops because they can't grasp their opponent's hand ranges are all over the place in multi-way limped pots.
I'm very big on the concept of fish betting to avoid tough decisions, but possibly another factor with his river bet is he was humiliated to show it down and betting could have avoided that.

Playing AA this way pre and on the flop is something low stakes players will do. But barreling turn and jamming river seems like a massive spew.
@@1vailchrisit is exactly that. Couldn’t let his hand go. That limp is what low-skill players think is trapping…..they see too many old ESPN clips from yesteryear and think it’s cool to slow play premium hands - or want to impress everyone at the table with how sneaky they played it.
From there the runout for any over pair, minus JJ, was a disaster.
Didn’t help the hero was a calling station - tho that in itself should have raised alarm bells for the villain.

@@EllieBanks333 I mean...I wasn't sure about Bart's plan to 3B flop and stack off, because hero really can't rep TT here, whereas V could have TT/77/T7 and be more than happy to get stacks in. But in retrospect, assuming V would want to 4B/jam AA on the flop, Bart's plan would have worked, and like it says in the video's text description above, it would have avoided a disastrous fold on later streets.
@@scholesiefirsttime Not arguing with you, it's just...I've seen players do this with big pairs, but I would think V here would want to x/r bigger on the flop. Whenever they "spring the trap", it's usually with a huge bet. I can't remember ever seeing someone who was trapping pre with a big pair go for a small x/r on flop, then continue to barrel turn and river huge, unimproved, on a run-out that favors their opponent's calling range. It's not so much the slow-play pre and fast-play on the flop that's really terrible, it's the spew-tastic barreling that makes this line so horrendous. It's like, at some point, we'd think V would pause long enough to wonder what hands he's beating when hero leads flop, calls the x/r, and calls the turn bet. The only hand hero might have that gets played this way and that V beats would be some Tx hands, which are probably just going to check back a lot, or fold to V's aggression, so V could just check river and hope hero checks back with Tx.
That's a classic pocket A's line in 1-3.
Players in low stakes love to min raise draws. I can see this with any 98. I have seen a lot of players lately slow playing aces all the way to the river and then making a massive bet on a bad board as well.

I was very happy that caller played the T2 for Dolly. Also that Bart was on board. Note to the pre-flop police; you're wrong. Hero is getting literally 10 to 1, with an absolute cost of less than 1 BB [because straddling]. On the flop, there is no way I'm buying 77 at this raise size. I was also thinking the same as Bart: 3 betting this flop. Now is where I start sounding "out to lunch". I might jam. Sounds crazy right? But if you really think this texture through, there are almost no clean turns. Hero is looking for a T or a 2 or a 3,4,5 that is not a club. And look at what a standard 4X does to the pot size.
I am thinking AA badly played or KK “cautiously” played, going wild when no ace comes on the flop.

The mistake was not so much trying to trap pre with AA, but frankly with all those players I would fold to the flop bet. 😂 You beat nothing.
I stopped the video at 11:40 to write out my guess. On the flop I would have been happy until I got raised. Maybe I'm beat. With the big bet on the turn. I'm really not happy now. It looks like he is trying to fold out draws, and/or he just got there with 89. The river looks a lot like he has 89. He's either got 89 or he's an idiot, which is quite possible at these stakes.

The small flop raise screams overpair to me from my experience. The hero should have three bet the flop against a fairly obvious overpair.
I think Bart and caller are giving villain too much credit. It’s a limped pot at small stakes. The SB will have a lot of 89o, T9o, etc. He may do the min raise on the flop with Tx to “see where he’s at” or some shit like that. Then turning the gutty with T9o, I’ve seen them barrel a lot in these spots. The short of it is there are a lot more 9x hands than the caller thinks.
Anyway, if this dude is going to show up with all sorts of overvalues, then of course you gotta call

This is what we live with in the 1/2 streets.
See stuff like this at low stakes all the time. If guy is playing AA this way he could clearly have T9 or T8 as well. Online small stakes you'll see people constantly limping everything that should be raised.

Not a nit with a guy behind you that has showed strength. If the straddle calls there are so many bad cards and is unlikely to check through and facing a river bet is just miserable

Limping AA from the small blind??? V deserved to lose a stack. Not sure how much we should be 3B'ing flop over V's x/r, though, when we really can't rep top set, and V can have middle set or top 2. I played a similar hand, where the BB put in a small x/r when I c-bet after flopping top 2 on a similar board of KJ2 rainbow. He had bottom set. 3B'ing over his x/r would have been disastrous.
