    You are made of polymers, and so are trees and telephones and toys. A polymer is a long chain of identical molecules (or monomers) with a range of useful properties, like toughness or stretchiness -- and it turns out, we just can't live without them. Polymers occur both naturally -- our DNA is a polymer -- and synthetically, like plastic, Silly Putty and styrofoam. Jan Mattingly explains how polymers have changed our world.

      So am I right by saying that everything we can see pretty much consists of polymers 😂 another way of saying groups of atoms(molecules) of everything known to man
      Even my eyes balls looking at the words I’m now typing consist of polymers which are what? Atoms but bonded in gruos as there are many which when many are molecules and again many molecules bonded are polymers? Hahhaa
      Why do we complicate it by giving it another section by its name
      Why not call them grouped molecules instead of polymers? Or am I missing the point here ???

    Why aren't we incinerating our MSW? It allows us to produce electricity with our waste, if done correctly it doesn't necessarily means that any significant amount of fly ash should be released and when we send them directly to the dump they tend to produce methane as they decompose, enough to cause about as much greenhouse effect as the CO2 we would release burning them.

    • @EmperorsAlpaca
      @EmperorsAlpaca 10 лет назад

      I think they would release more. The entirety of the item would be thrown out into the sky. Co2 and Methane would be released.

    polymers need to be exposed of by burning them, not being sent to a landfill. that is how we come across shortages in materials. when you burn the material it completely separates all bonds and you are left with the base of the molecule carbon. this will allow for the natural creation of certain materials.
