    1998-99 club car DS 48-volt lithium conversion - What wiring must remain, such as the Wiper Switch Assembly, . . removed onboard computer, right? but that is a little confusing when some vital components are needed.. . . etc? so what would regulate voltage for speed?

    So I get the principle of the bypass of the OBC, but on my 2001, I have a 3 prong connector coming from my OBC, with yellow, red and brown wire, but no blue and white wire. I've scoured the internet looking for a how to bypass this type of OBC plug, to no avail. Please help!!

    • @gatorson
      @gatorson 9 месяцев назад +3

      You have a series cart. For the Series carts You just have to disconnect the Yellow wire from the OBC and run it directly from Solenoid to controller B- (or other negative source like pack negative).

    I understand the main ground wire that runs thru the OBC needs to be cut and put in the negative. But what do I with the other black wire. Also do I connect the blue and white wire together?

    • @CartPerformance
      @CartPerformance  Год назад

      Unless you have a obc bypass. You do not remove the obc. You can cut the main negative to gain more length if needed. We found out most of the club ds's will not run when you removed the obc completely unless you have a obc bypass. The harness still needs to be connected on the obc for the cart to function properly.

      @@CartPerformance So, how do you bypass the OBC on a DS? Just jump the blue and white? I've seen that's only on the Precedent and that the DS you need to run the yellow to the negative terminal...although that method seems to only be when you're keeping the CC charging port. I'm using an Eco Battery with the OB charger, reducer and 51v 72ah.
      Can I just jump the blue and white on this model? 03, I believe with the black Sepex motor.

      @@intranzsinger I reinstalled the OBC, luckily didn't cut too many wires to remove it. I followed another video by Fenertainment or Fentertainment here on YT. He did not bypass the OBC. My cart moves now. Haven't done a test drive as I'm still working on the restoration. But it moved back and forth in the garage.

    Great Job explaining with the exception of you needing a dedicated fuse in the circuit for the headlights. Depending on the light kit usually 15-20a. With one single 12v output it’s best to run main output that to a marine grade fuse box so each accessory can be fused appropriately and you can add more than one later if needed. That converter has a main unit fuse and not for the accessories as they will be different sizes depending on what your installing. I know it’s possible that the headlight wiring had the inline fuse in there and if that’s the case and the only accessory then you are ok but might want to explain that to an audience that’s unaware and that this kit is single output and their options.
    It’s also best to cover those open areas of the cart to keep water and debris out and mount the charger and inverter etc to a heat sink slightly above the decking you use for air flow and ventilation. Yes this cost more money and time but worth it for the customer. I just completed same battery and install on cart and this info I’m sure is helpful for a DIY person so overall great job guys as I know it’s a lot of info to cover.

    Did you actually get this cart running after you removed the OBC? If so, how?

    • @ericjohnson5095
      @ericjohnson5095 7 месяцев назад +1

      I agree with you. Converted my to lithium and could not delete on board computer. If I turn the battery off and then on, I have to touch the gray wire to the positive post for a few seconds. The battery light comes on and goes off when you remove it. Now my golf cart works. Nobody properly shows how to delete it. I tried this version of unplugging the OBC (without removing it) and my cart would not move. Plugged the OBC back in and touched gray wire to positive post (with key off) and it works. Thinking about installing a switch or push button for the Grey wire to positive post. I tried hooking up the gray wire to positive post, didn't work. Only needs a few seconds of voltage to reset OBC.

  • @johnbullard4568
    @johnbullard4568 Год назад

    I have one blue wire coming from the front which I am guessing is the key switch. Does this just go to the positive on the converter? I am using a fuse panel so what size fuse should I put for that one? As well should I use a 20amp fuse for the headlights?

    • @CartPerformance
      @CartPerformance  Год назад +1

      Yes the blue wire is most likely key switch power. You hook the convertor key switch wire to the blue wire. 20 amp fuse will be plenty. The convertor is already fused at the 48 and 12 volt power source.

    • @jasoncrawford1513
      @jasoncrawford1513 Год назад +1

      For real man...No one seems to really touch on this for the DS. Some say just jump the blue and white, but I've heard that's only on Precedent models. Or, you need to run the yellow to the negative terminal. Ridiculous, that Eco Battery(my brand) and others don't address this and risk destroying a 2k battery. None of the videos seem to really address the DS for this either. Only the Precedent. Let me know if you found a work around. Just got mine. Thanks!

    Just a helpful comment on an issue i ran into that none of these install videos mentioned for a pre 2000 club car ds with resistor. When removing the oem charging port a wire from the v glide to the charging port will be unhooked which will prevent the cart from moving forward and backward. If you connect that wire from the v glide directly to the negative side of the lithium battery it will solve that issue. Hope this helps at least one person because apparently i was the first person to ever run into this issue on the history of the internet 😅
