The best video and flying all year. The slow motion of the Rafale in high alpha over the water at dusk and you can see the afterburner lighting up through the intakes at the front of one amazing EDF and your piloting skills.

For SURE a superb flyer!! No doubt about it. Even though its 90mm , not an 80 mm model. I STIILL IN LOVE WITH THE EFLITE VIPER EDF. The RAFALE seems to excel at high angles of attack and perhaps slower speeds. The VIPER ITS FAST , Got lots of torque even at lower speeds. It flys more kind a SMOOTH CLEAN PATTERN TYPE RC MODEL.
Just my humble opinion.

Great video, as always. One of my flying friends set his almost new Rafale down in the rough with the gear up. Minor damage only, but he doesn’t like doing repairs. He gave me his Rafale and opted to buy a new one for himself! $100 in parts and a couple of hours later I had the Rafale back in the air.
Four flights on her today and I was very impressed. A little squirrelly on the ground and in need of a bit more expo, but a very good flyer overall. I’m using SMC 6S 6200 HV packs and performance is very good; however, I suspect lighter packs would be better overall with probably about the same flight time.
Move it down to a 4400 shoved as far back as it can fit and it'll be one of the most agile jets you've ever flown.
I was gonna pick this up but it's currently out of stock. Amazing jet, will pick up as soon as it comes back in stock (hopefully)

Any chance you can put a Rafale set up video together for us? Being a canard bird makes it a rather different animal and seeing how to do it right the first time would be a HUGE benefit (and we can see how YOU do it vs other YT pilots).
We're getting back into setup vids, but we won't be posting the Rafale again until the Eurofighter arrives - a setup vid by itself won't perform and the amount of work required to post it is a bit high for a small return on investment. Just being blunt here if you're OK with that. We'll definitely make it happen in the future.

The F-16 80mm, Viper 90mm, F-22 90mm, and A-10 70mm all come right behind this jet - but not a single one surpasses it for us for pure enjoyability.

What size battery you find best for the Rafale 80?
4000 to 4500. We'll be testing it with the SMC LiHV 4000 class packs very soon.

Ok I have a decision to make and I need your help! I have a chance to get one jet bit i have to choose between this and a viper 90 and there's only 50 bucks separating them (viper 50 bucks more, both planes sub 400 bucks) which one would you go with if you were in the same situation? I'm stuck!
What do you want to do? If you want to perform high alpha (without any mods), Rafale is the choice we'd recommend. It's also easy to fly and not hard to land.
If you want to perform knife edge, rolling harriers (yes, the Viper can do it - we've demoed it), all sorts of spins, etc, then the Viper is a better choice. It can be trickier to fly because it bites hard when it stalls, and it can be trickier to land because of the stall characteristics.

@Two Brothers Radio Control the high A flight is fun but I also don'tind the mods. I I guess the better question would be; if you didn't mind modifications, which bird would be best all around for speed, alpha ability, and program/flight surface nuances

We have a setup guide for it that covers everything you'll want to consider doing to it, from servo upgrades (tinyurl.com/B13DLM) to various upgrades for mixing and whatnot. You'll need an AR8360T receiver for it to set it up the way we did in that vid, which you can pick up via bit.ly/3QBdgtc - we'll also recommend considering SMC HV packs from www.smc-racing.com. The 6s 5300 and 6200 packs will be perfect for all types of flying, including high alpha. We've also posted tutorials on flying the Viper in high alpha if you're curious - you can check the channel history to find them.
