  • Keith Richards Micawber Telecaster is built on a low budget Part3
    HI Everyone!
    Today I to build at my shop the Keith Richards Micawber Telecaster is built on a low budget Part3. Today I milled and planed the position of the pick-up and the correct position of the neck with a machine! I just went slowly with the work, because I had to pay close attention to the milling depth and small mistakes. If you have any question please ask my or I make something wrong, please tell me! Thank your very much for the "Like" or "dislikes " please subscribe.

    Building a micawber as well. Sort of. Rosewood finger board. His has a modernish solid brass bridge and a hotter lap steel bridge single coil. Custom shop uses a Seymour Duncan Seth lover humbucker (non wax potted) and a special wound bridge pup. I'm using a Lollar J street bridge pup. At 8.7k it matches output wise with the 7.6k 59 neck I'm using (wax potted). Already have a Gotah solid brass bridge.

      @@viktorlieszkovszky9683 few ways to wire it. Going with 500k pots and a standard 3 way switch. But I'll be running a 470k resistor between the bridge selector switch solder joint and the volume pot casing. So when ever the bridge pickup is being used it will get resisted back down to 250k.

    Was that work on the neck pocket really necessary? I’ve heard that having a small gap is beneficial, as it allows for possible expansion of the neck, which helps to avoid cracks in the body finish and doesn’t have any noticeable impact on tone.

      Unfortunately, yes, it was necessary! Unfortunately, I may have been wrong, but the center of the body was not in line with the center of the neck! It's not a big difference, but it was about 1 millimeter and when I tried to fix it, the planer took out half a millimeter more than I wanted! I made a mistake and I fixed it!

    How much this cost so far for each parts and tools?

    • @viktorlieszkovszky9683
      @viktorlieszkovszky9683  10 месяцев назад

      Now I'm looking at roughly 800-900 euros in parts, which includes the neck, body and all hardware and paint. All tools were provided, as you have been making and repairing musical instruments for 8 years, except for the new manual planer, which was 49 euros.

      @@viktorlieszkovszky9683 a good Tele kit from Thomann is around 100 euro, how did you spend 800-900 euros on the guitar parts?

    on a budget, just buy 10,000 dollars of tools and have your own huge workshop

      Well, yes, but someone has to fix or make the guitars too! I love my job and my hobby. It's a fantastic feeling to see the guitars live in concert and know that you did it.

      Thing is those tools last for a lot of builds.and the money saved from guitar shops more than pays for it. But the best part is your building better than (IMHO) custom shop quality guitars at a third the price. So any way you look at it your saving money in the long run and look at what your getting. Very personalized beautiful guitars. It is a journey I'm most definitely enjoying.

    The neck humbucker should be closer to the neck. Not too many people notice and observe that.

      The black pickquard is also an original USA Fender brand. I guess the Fender specialists planned the place for the Humbucker well! It is made in series production, so it is used not only by Keith Richards, but also by many other guitarists. I think if it's good for them, it will be good too. Otherwise, the normal singlecoil must also be in the octave position, and the humbacker can receive the signal from a wider position. But the 6 small screws of the humbucker are still in octaves. But I will make a video, as I always do, of how it sounds at a big live concert! The instrument will be played at about 40 concerts a year!
