I still can't believe how amazing this book was. Loved the fairy tale-esque feeling, the characters, the whimsical nature of Hoid's, well, everything, and of course, the Cosmere connections. So many firsts! First time seeing new aethers (and only second time seeing aethers in general). First time seeing a dragon in dragon form. First time seeing Aons used on screen for very complex uses. First time seeing advanced "scifi magictech". First time seeing a Kandra openly on screen not on Scadrial. Um... probably a few more I can't think of, but still crazy. Do we know when exactly it takes place? I'd guess before Sixth of the Dusk 2, but I'm probably wrong haha. As for Hoid's spren, I didn't notice any reference to it. Either it was hiding or there are some... worrisome implications for Nahel bonds in the future, or at least Hoid's... Anyway, love the video, Zach. Keep em coming! Also, can't wait for the physical copy, and the first swag box!
Yeah a ton of firsts, you can tell he originally wrote this for fun, it’s a lot of stuff I imagine he’s been inching to get to and explore. And I love the way he did it with a stand alone but full bore Cosmere and in a super whimsical way. A lot of debate over when this is. Has to be space age Cosmere which puts it further out than anything we have seen except six of the dusk. Which btw I think Hoid is telling this story to someone from six of the dusk. The missing Spren is very worrisome, I find it EXTREMELY strange that Hoid didn’t mention it at all given he is narrating the story. 😬
@@ZachTaylorReads in RoW it showed that the shards will push it's inclinations on the avatar so it's not simply power but a driving force so it makes a lot of sense. That's why I've seen the theory that "harmony" will become "discord"
1. There is a brief mention by Tress about aviar (sp?) being on the planet in some places. It may or may not be a connection. 2. The dragon is mentioned in another Sanderson book, residing under a sea. I can't recall/find the reference. 3. I have had a long standing theory that Urithiru is a spaceship as well, although an ancient one. The whole tower taking off and flying off into space might be planting seeds to the reveal as to not shock the readers. 4. the metals that interact with the spores follow the same rules as in mistborn for burning metals.
Hoid's gotta catch em all! I'm starting to wonder why he seems to be seeking out each type of magic system. Also, Cultivation is the one that made Lyft special
One thing I will say about the Lift bond. Seems like it could be true but her eating generates lifelight she doesn’t and seems not to be able to use stormlight.
See, for me, if the cosmere connections weren't as prevalent as they are in this book, the fairy tale-ness of it all would have caused me to put this book down pretty quickly. The only thing pulling me along through all of the very obvious fairy tale tropes were the cosmere connections. I just don't understand how anyone missed tht the rat was Charlie. As soon as it spoke I knew it was him. Guessed he was lying about the other talking rats too. Pretty obvious he was lying considering I knew it was Charlie. But, with all of tht said, I really enjoyed this book. Putting the dragon in this one fit perfectly with the fairy tale feel, so it didn't feel weird or forced into the story.
I really don’t think there are 16 types of spores. I think 16 is mainly an Adonalsium number. And there are only 10 surges on roshar, so who knows! I loved the vid tho! Loved all the connections in this book!
That would give wit elantrian powers during Stormlight, and he would know about some crazy tech including spaceships. I don’t think we have any evidence of that do we? Hoids a sneaky joker so I could very well have missed it
There are at least 2 other points that hint that this story happens way after Lost Metal, and after TWoK 1. Harmony hasn't released the Kandra by the end of Lost Metal. But Hoid mentions that the Kandra have changed in the decades after Harmony released them. While we don't know the amount of time that passed between Lost Metal and TWoK I expect it to be too short for this story to fit in between. edit: Major correction: Lost Metal happens after TWoK. Forgot that Mistborn Era 2 has been moved to after SA1-5. 2. (Warning: Minor spoiler for WoR) The Iriali left Lumar about 300 years before the story takes place. Lumar must have been after their "stop" on Roshar. And thus this story must take place >300 years after Stormlight Archive 1-5. (see also the Iriali page on the Coppermind)

the spiritual bond makes me think of the shards themselves
Interesting idea, I hadn’t thought of the shards themselves being bonded through the a spiritual bond but that makes so much sense

I remember preservation saying allomancy was made with 16 metals as a clue (that no one on that world understood)
I thought the "for your own good" was when he was talking to the 16 shatterers, but who knows?
Timeline wise this happens before hoid gets his spren (before way of kings)
But after lost metal

isnt mistborn era 2 supposed to takes place around 5 year after stormlight era 1?
@@Struggler12349 sometime during the time jump between SA5 and SA6.
So 5 years could be right.
