I love his swishing hit-hat...I never appreciated it until I learned to play the drums. He's the greatest! Plus he's just cool. John knew that from the start.
I saw Ringo in Paris last year and what struck me about his drumming style was how relaxed it was. He could almost have been a jazz drummer. When you listen to his drumming, everything he did was classy and added to the music. His drumming style, personality and musicality fitted The Beatles perfectly.
Ringo layed down some unique drum hooks as well as being a very tight beat machine. My favourite being the floor Tom Tom roll at the start of "She Loves You"
Ringo, the Jimi Hendrix of drums. An astonishingly gifted original and creative drummer. Never lost the tempo or the beat, and enjoyed every moment on his drum kit drumming for The Beatles. Why did it take so long for them to induct him into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? Total legend.

3:12 is priceless. It happens many times when you play live music and it tells a lot of the good vibe among these lads! Thanks for this treasure of footage.
Ringo's playing grew with the band. He came up with licks, beats, grooves that are iconic, immediately recognizable, and it fit the music perfectly. What he didn't play was as important as what he did play.
I'm 53 ys old , 40 ys of them a Beatles fanatic and my favourite Beatle was always Ringo . Why ?! Because he doesn ' t play the drums,, He simply plays the song . And that is a talented artist. Bless you Sir .
I was seven years old that night, glued to the tv watching the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show. Ringo was rocking the beat with a boyish enthusiasm and a masterful swing, it made you feel alive with an excitement you never felt before.
You have to remember as well, that Ringo himself as frequently stated that it live performances due to the level of screams that all he could mostly do was hold down the back beat, as anything other than that would get drowned out.
Ringo is a real drummer plays for the music not for himself no flash no tricks no over drumming just straight playing not many drummers do this today its a talent and bands love it
Richard Starkey: a PROFESSIONAL musician. Dude was interpreting original songs. Made at LEAST as important as the significancy we ascribe to lead guitarists. Everybody plays his licks, but he never played anybofy else's on an original Beatles composition.
Ringo really the Tim Duncan of drumming. He did what had to do for the song and he did it well yet people question his greatness for not being overly technical
His drumming on "A Day in the Life" shows how capable he was technically. Lots of busy fills all perfectly placed to add depth and yet still let the music breathe.
For many many years Ringo was an underrated drummer, even derided in some quarters, so good that his unique talent is recognized now, he was the heartbeat of The Beatles.
I've been playing drums for over 40 years now. To me Ringo is a great drummer. He plays a lot of 32sec beat to many songs including Help. Not easy to do! He really kicks ass on Long Tall Sally towards the end of song. Great job Ringo!!
Thanks for exclusive shots of Ringo working, he really has the taste and the drum stick control to serve the song, I love his charisma. Peace and Love and laughter to you Ringo.
Ringo is reason why I started drumming at 9 years old, I'm 38 now and I am so grateful for Ringo and the Beatles, great drummer and a great great great band!
I keep coming back to this video and keep getting lost in his swing and hand moments. Man it’s the little things like that just still make gum my favorite drummer.
If the Beatles were sushi rice: John was the vinegar, Paul was the sugar, George was the salt, Ringo was the rice. Love him! He provided tasty and steady BEAT to the BEATles. I am in a band and someone like Ringo is the one most appreciated by the band members themselves.
I must admit with shame that as a very young drummer, I used to mock the notion that Ringo was any kind of noteworthy drummer. The truth was that I simply did not have the experience, or appreciation for what he did back then. So many of us get caught up in who plays the most notes. How fast we play. I love fast technical drumming as much as anyone, but I learned over time that speed is actually easy to develop if it's all you do. It's fun, and if it's appropriate for your music, then go for it. What Ringo brought was tremendous musicality. People who are not musicians don't understand how hard it is to play musically and dynamically appropriate at all times. Providing great tempo, impact, nuance, and spirit to the music is a different type of demand. So many Beatles hits are memorable because of the drum beat just as most songs are memorable because of the guitar or vocal line. Ringo created musical "hooks" that are normally done by other instruments. And he did it with a four piece with a ride, crash, and set of hats. Drummers, whether you know it or not, and whether you like it or not, much of what we do is attributable to ringo. He is in the DNA of drummers.
I can’t believe how many views this videos of mine has got. Thank you to everyone who has watched this video :)

Without Ringo the Beatles would be beatless.
good one!!
*Praud clap meme*
Yeah if it hadn't been for Ringo they would have had a real drummer!
nah they’d just have pete best
then they would be “the les”
Love the little way he kind of scrapes the hi-hat. Such a unique style.
Some people would say "kissing the hi-hats."
Makes the hats live longer, but it looks like he was thinking of the shushing sound he wanted and playing them like a guiro
I literally can't explain how happy I feel watching ringo play drums🥺🥺
Anyone that have played in a band live, will praise what happened at 3:11. I watched that part lots of times and enjoyed every time. Those are priceless moments when playing live with friends. They were all laughing for a while.
Very cool video and very underrated drummer!
Best drummer and bandmate you could have. Works hard, keeps his sense of humor, and makes everyone else sound better.
1:20 I’m so mesmerized. I can barely tap my foot and clap at the same time.
Check out Nate Smith! He’s a crazy drummer
Well there you go. High-hats are like clapping and you've got the foot stomp (bass drum) right out. Easy as that
I was mesmerized at 2:09 he literally did the drumming so organized and neatly
3:48 Stability 10/10
Santiago Althabe Spot on
3:10 can he get any cuter?
Nope! Nothing ever cuter than Ringo! ❤️❤️
I love his swishing hit-hat...I never appreciated it until I learned to play the drums. He's the greatest! Plus he's just cool. John knew that from the start.
Economical is a good way to describe Ringo's playing--understated and in the background, keeping the time and carrying the beat. Perfect.
Fred Pearson And for him to be a left handed man playing the drums the opposite way, too.
I saw Ringo in Paris last year and what struck me about his drumming style was how relaxed it was. He could almost have been a jazz drummer. When you listen to his drumming, everything he did was classy and added to the music. His drumming style, personality and musicality fitted The Beatles perfectly.
Absolute perfect timing! Check it out. Even when the others are having a bad day he picks up the slack and gets them back on track.
i might say that this man inspired me to raise my drumming seat this week and it has changed my game completely
a true icon
How can anyone hate him??? And why am I here from people hating on him??? He's flippin' amazing.
@3:28 George goes into the guitar break instead of going straight into the solo, briefly confusing the others.
John puts his hands behind his back like “not me fucking up.” LOL
@@luis.hammett676 touche!
All four men played good, together or not. But they all sounded great. Great work from all four of these men.
Amazing how quick they all just fix it
the british "oop"
What happened is John went to the verse while George was playing the solo so john stopped playing and put his hands behind his back.
I saw ringo live in 2015 & it's definitely one of the highlights in my life.. I never thought i'd get to see one of the fab four.. EVER
3:12 Whatever happens, the show must go on. I loved Ringo's smile. 😂❤️
Two of the greatest songwriters in the history of music choose Ringo to be their drummer... case closed!
Three of the greatest songwriters...
@@chadbutros3935 exactly. Most of my favorite Beatles songs are George’s compositions.
Ringo layed down some unique drum hooks as well as being a very tight beat machine. My favourite being the floor Tom Tom roll at the start of "She Loves You"
His drumming just warms your heart
Ringo, the Jimi Hendrix of drums. An astonishingly gifted original and creative drummer. Never lost the tempo or the beat, and enjoyed every moment on his drum kit drumming for The Beatles. Why did it take so long for them to induct him into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? Total legend.
look up Bernard Purdie
@@zelenicaljubljanica5410This type of exaggeration kiIIs my soul a little lol
@@redacted2275 ringo didn't play on the records but whoever did was great.
I’m glad you posted this because it shows that even though Bernard Purdie is a great drummer, his remark that he redid Ringo parts is sad. It’s completely untrue with no valid backing. I’m not sure why he ever said it but it’s up there with the great lies of all time
Ringo was the absolute perfect drummer for the Beatles. He always knew how to play exactly what the song needed.
Had the privilege to see that kit in person once, on display of course.
0:34 dancing and playing drums at the same time
I'm 53 ys old , 40 ys of them a Beatles fanatic and my favourite Beatle was always Ringo . Why ?! Because he doesn ' t play the drums,,
He simply plays the song .
And that is a talented artist.
Bless you Sir .
Moustafa El Haguine well said. Things like how he played on Ticket to Ride. What an inventive and stylish approach.
I was seven years old that night, glued to the tv watching the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show. Ringo was rocking the beat with a boyish enthusiasm and a masterful swing, it made you feel alive with an excitement you never felt before.
He's the underrated Beatles but he's just so good.
Solid. Only people that know nothing about music dare mock him.
True. They are not rockers, not even mods. They are mockers.
hahahahahahahahahahaha

Why do you think that.
Music? The Beatles? You mean bubble gum music?
@@tommytruth7595 The Beatles are awesome, but Ringo is far too basic to be any good.
3:40 leaked footage of the Beatles playing Helter Skelter lol
Azamuddin Khairuddin He’s got blisters on his fingahs!
What concert what this? I’d love to hear the full version
That was Long Tall Sally not Helter Skelter ,Helter Skelter came out 1968 that concert was mid 1963
Jean Van Vliet that was a joke
@@BenBomb5 That was at the Washington Coliseum, which was actually their first U.S. concert.
You have to remember as well, that Ringo himself as frequently stated that it live performances due to the level of screams that all he could mostly do was hold down the back beat, as anything other than that would get drowned out.
Ringo was the original Dave Grohl. His little kit is begging for mercy. Godfather of heavy hands.
To me, Ringo is very underrated as a drummer
Ringo is a real drummer plays for the music not for himself no flash no tricks no over drumming just straight playing not many drummers do this today its a talent and bands love it
Richard Starkey: a PROFESSIONAL musician. Dude was interpreting original songs. Made at LEAST as important as the significancy we ascribe to lead guitarists. Everybody plays his licks, but he never played anybofy else's on an original Beatles composition.
David T I agree. Wrote songs, cut his hair and had his Ringo Starr Time going on his bass drum, too. Had to have been awesome.
Plus Ringo did not like drum Solo's! He had no reason to show off cause he was a Member of the BEATLES! Get it?
Yeah, good stuff, folks. Glad y'all could decipher what I was saying despite all the typos. Sir Richard remains a gem.
It's been said that most great drummers play the drums, whereas, Ringo plays the SONGS. He does what it takes to make the whole thing work well.
Ringo laying it down with enthusiasm and energy and just playing for the song. A template for all drummers really!
Gotta love Ringo, man. I used to watch this video a lot during my last year in high school.
Say what you will, but rock drummers everywhere would still be proverbial cavemen if not for this legend.
King of feel - the very quality you can't put into words. A message to other drummers - there's no point analysing; just enjoy what's happening.
I again realized that the secret of Beatles sound is Ringo's drumming and of course Paul's base as well.
The very best Rhythm Section in Rock'n Roll.
Ringo a mega underrated drummer. One of my favorites!!
3:40 RIP Ringo's drums
Ringo really the Tim Duncan of drumming. He did what had to do for the song and he did it well yet people question his greatness for not being overly technical
His drumming on "A Day in the Life" shows how capable he was technically. Lots of busy fills all perfectly placed to add depth and yet still let the music breathe.
Never misses a beat. Always perfect time. Metronomes using a Ringo to keep the beat.
For many many years Ringo was an underrated drummer, even derided in some quarters, so good that his unique talent is recognized now, he was the heartbeat of The Beatles.
Ringo’s so talented in adding drums to a somber song of Yesterday.
I've been playing drums for over 40 years now. To me Ringo is a great drummer. He plays a lot of 32sec beat to many songs including Help. Not easy to do! He really kicks ass on Long Tall Sally towards the end of song. Great job Ringo!!
Sooo good! As a leftie he was forced to use his right hand as a child. He’s the original rock drummer to me. Such a kind person also. No one like him.
Great technique and feel. Such a solid drummer!
Thanks for exclusive shots of Ringo working, he really has the taste and the drum stick control to serve the song, I love his charisma. Peace and Love and laughter to you Ringo.

Knight Of The Galaxies SHE LOVES YOU AND YOU KNOW YOU SHOULD BE GLAD OOOOOOOOOHHH
Man she must be really glad
Don't miss Ringo's drumming when he sings "Boys" on the Hollywood Bowl live album, just incredible.
Hell of a vocal performance too
richard isn't just a drummer, he's a percusionist as well.
Um
Love Ringo, he's the best and was so right to be The Beatles Drummer.
3:39 I would lije to see Ringo drumming like these more often.. great energy
Ringo was one of the greats. Wholly underappreciated percussionist.
If the Beatles were sushi rice:
John was the vinegar,
Paul was the sugar,
George was the salt,
Ringo was the rice. Love him!
He provided tasty and steady BEAT to the BEATles.
I am in a band and someone like Ringo is the one most appreciated by the band members themselves.
Tf man
I must admit with shame that as a very young drummer, I used to mock the notion that Ringo was any kind of noteworthy drummer.
Ringo was my original influence on drums and I still love him. I still play at 66. Love you Richie.
Richie vallens
I’m actually considering playing the drums thanks to Mr. Starkey… thank you Ringo 🥁
