It reminds me of better times, when I felt my life had a purpose. God I miss those days, when the only thing I had to worry about were my grades. When I used to enjoy playing games so much more than now, even when I owned so few. There'll never be a game franchise like Silent Hill and there'll never be another Team Silent.
I feel you dude, i feel the same things, i miss good old days 15 y.o ago (25 now) where everything looked so easy and peaceful in my memories... I've learn to read on this game, 5 yo me listening to my brother reading the subtitles and seein the text he was reading, those was probably the first musics i've heard of a video game, and 20 years later, well i'm still there listening to the same songs.

Ps2 era was so gooooood! I'll never forget of that years, and Silent Hill made part of it...So many good times I had playing this franchise and so many good memories i have with friends that never will back again.. 😃😥

I always try to dream about a place like Silent Hill and me visiting a place similar to it but it doesn’t always feel authentic as the game.
I guess you can maybe find a park or some place and look up the weather to see if its raining or foggy etc and go for walk then but other then that I really don’t know if you can actually find a place like Silent Hill. Its all in your head in the end of the day, you just gotta find it..
Honestly this doesn't make me feel sad, it just reminds me of the past and times that are long gone, how much has changed and how people have come and gone out of my life. If nostalgia were a sound, it would be this.

Even though I have this game in my backlog and have never played it ….I do feel the same way it’s a melancholic feeling it’s a reminiscing feeling that’s always there. It feels like the late 90’s and early 00’s in sound form.

The "sound" I hear when listening to this video, it instantly brings me back to 2006-2007. That was a very... melancholic time in my young life.
I feel the same I think about myself I remember the wrong choices I've made, the people who are no longer here, sadness for the times gone by together with lightheartedness.
I have a weird attachment to Silent Hill. I've never played it, I've only watched small bits of gameplay from it, but I'm in love with it's music, and it's aesthetic.
Same that's how i got into these games cus of the music but id deff recomend checking out some lore videos and videos that explain the story it's very interesting esp the monster designs and symbolism.
If you have PlayStation silent hill 2 is free on ps now. I just replayed recently it was amazing. Though I first played in 2006 I think it was.
I was lucky enough to buy the first four - the only games in the series worth playing - when they were still relatively cheap. Now though, you’re likely to spend at least $100 on each entry, even the bad ones like Downpour are selling for that price.
And you can run it on any laptop from the last 10 years very easily. Its a must have experience i cannot explain how much i recommended actually playing them

This game had the biggest impact on me as a person. Now I'm a loner, introvert, escapist. And somehow I don't regret it. I just want peace and wander on the streets of the empty town forever.

This takes me to a place of purgatorial melancholy, where time is forever frozen and I can never leave. I imagine looking out that window and seeing nothing but endless white fog on an overcast day. The sun never moves but I can never see where it's at, either. The room has no doors, the gun has no bullets, the window can't be broken or opened, sleep never comes, I never eat and I'm never hungry. The only thoughts that ever come are of regret, sadness, and wishfulness. Yet there's a sense of comforting acceptance in this place of gray sedation.
Isolation.
And that's all there is, forever.

I get lost in days like this. Hours spent sitting in my 70+ year old project cars, the ones i’ve yet to touch- trapped in a time capsule, mildewed and dusty. A snapshot of yesteryear that you can reach through & touch. These cars haven’t ran in a half century most times, yet there is a vibrance to the memories trapped inside that keeps me there. “Purgatorial melancholy” is a perfect descriptor indeed.
I think many of us are already there but it's only the few of us that have realised it and we accepted it that we are already there way before our time...
It's astonishing how all these various slower versions are similar yet so unique in their own way. Like a different universe

This song makes me think that when Maria was created, the entity was given a real sense of true love, so that James could feel it too. You can't be truly in love unless the other loves you back, a concept that mirrored James and Mary's struggle during the last few days of Mary's life.

Shinning a light in on me that I still find warm through which brings me happiness: happiness that no matter what we go through there will always be that peace about me and this world because of music like this and games like this. Silent Hill reminds me of a foggy rainy day, where you retreat to the comfort of your room and watch movies all day.
sometimes i wonder why it is that even after surrounding myself with so many people, and getting so close to some, i still end up feeling alone and as if i dont exist. ive started to realize that even though it is a feeling that saddens me and makes me feel regretful, it is my only constant, and at times the only comfort i can find: numbness

I used to listen to this at 5AM on the 7th floor at the hospital, in a dark room saturated with coffee aroma and getting ready to help with an orthopedic surgery as a medical student. The hospital was right on the beach and it would often fog and remind me of silent hill. I’d study cases all morning, help with surgeries, and then walk out into the fog. The nights that I had to stay up waiting for trauma cases to come to the ED, this playlist was running and I would walk around late at night. Eventually I downloaded SH2 for the PS2 and finished that while my wife and I watched the ACT, that crazy show about gypsy rose. Thanks for making this video. As I already like to slow down this song and now I don’t have to .

Thanks for sharing that story. It's a good example of how powerfully art can intertwine with and affect our lives. Years ago, in the summertime, I used to ride my bike around Boulder, Colorado late at night, when the town was so empty that I'd only ever see a lonely car drive by in the dark every five minutes or so. I rode around listening to this OST, and felt exactly like James wandering the streets of Silent Hill, looking into the empty shop windows. I felt deeply at peace, and enchanted somehow. For those of us who love quiet, darkness, and solitude, I think this kind of vibe has something of heaven in it.
@@Margatroid well, ehm... it is doubtful that James felt "deeply at peace", though :D but you're very right on the heaven part, I love games like Shadow of the Colossus, Dark Souls or Silent Hill for that exact reason. Japanese devs paint pictures of solitude like no one else can.
@@Margatroid I really enjoy seeing stories like yours and Kyle's. When I was a teen (around 2001-02) I would play Silent Hill a lot with an old best friend. We'd take breaks and walk in the middle of the night to a 24 hr donut shop in my hometown. I'll never forget the feeling of peace when we'd walk around in the quiet night, talking excitedly about the game and cracking jokes. The low hum from the freeway in the distance, the streetlights quietly changing signals, the smell of the warm summer air... good times.
@@heaw That's great, man. Experiences like that are what life is all about. I think we miss out so much on that stuff nowadays, with everyone staring at a screen whenever they have a moment of downtime. At least that's what it feels like for me... Like the itch to stimulate the mind so easily overtakes that mode of calm reflection. I want to try to have an experience like that again, this summer. It's the kind of thing you remember.

This song reminds me how letting go of who I was allowed me to become such a better person, however it also reminds me of how I started outperforming and dreaming bigger than all my friends and growing distant from them. Overall it's relaxing with a hint of pain, the sort of "You did it, it's all better, but at what cost"
I feel such potent sadness when listening to this music and thinking about this story, but for some reason, I love it.
I like to listen to this as I fall asleep. When I awaken to reality, I'm utterly disappointed and saddened.
This game combined with this music , these characters , that story and the locations it takes place creates to me so many different beautiful feelings. thats not a game thats a pure piece of art.

I only just played silent hill 3 and 2 a few months ago, and silent hill 2 has become one of my favorite games. The story, the voice acting, the music, the atmosphere, I’d def recommend it

I also never played a silent hill before discovering the music on RUclips. Recently I started playing Silent hill 1 on my old PS3 and I’m loving it. The atmosphere is amazing probably the best i ever experienced in a game.

This tune perfectly encapsulates the feelings of loss and despair. A life you tried your best to succeed at, but it simply wouldn’t let you. Everything you loved most managed to always get taken from you, all that you strived for ended in failure. Now you’re living in a dark void, wondering what’s next. Whether you manage to find a purpose to chase after no matter how benign, as long as it keeps you going. Or if you’re simply just waiting to die. Either way, you’re stuck with losing what you can never get back. Something that will never exist again. Anything to keep you going might as well be like a drug, a false sense of accomplishment to boost what’s left of your soul, all in vain.

One of my favorite songs and slowing it down just makes it even more magic. It's easy to close your eyes and get lost into the magic ambience it creates. Love it.
That beautiful bell melody is like a series of weighted tears plummeting through the curtain of the ambient winds curled underneath it, the fabric of harmony torn yet so warmly wrapped around the shoulders of a weeping sky.
Listening to this music, and reading your comments, I understand how much we are similar, and we all had childhood, and the same feelings, I'm from Russia, but this sound unites into one common mood, melancholy and nostalgia for good times, and probably everyone needs to listen to it, and the mind will become clear, it's difficult to think about the bad, and many things that people care about and strive for, wars, politics, and everything connected with it simply does not matter. Peace to all!
The world may be dark, the air thickened by the fog, the waters polluted by waste. But in a place with this music, maybe even the friendly sirens song, we all light up the earth and clean up the mess that we have left behind. All as one.

Always come back to this video to feel the nostalgia of diving into Silent Hill for the first time. Team Silent created a masterpiece that cannot be replicated. Yamaoka did a marvelous job creating the soundtracks for the Silent Hill franchise. The Silent hill soundtracks will forever and always be my absolute favorite.

Yamaoka made Silent Hill become my eternal paradise, sometimes while playing Silent Hill I would just stand in a corner and get lost watching the scenery and Yamaoka's music, that too with the sixth generation graphics that now look like cartoons. I always have one of silent hill ost's tracks on my cell phone...

Ever since I was a small kid silent hill made me feel a way no other game has. It’s the silence and loneliness, I love it. To hear this and walk through silent hill would be indescribable. It scares me don’t get me wrong but.. I’m more intrigued than scared. I the soundtrack really makes me think deep. It’s the only thing that calms me. Anyway hope I’m not alone.
Definitely not. Every track is a masterpiece. When i played the first game it became my dream to go to an abandoned ghost town. Its funny the game turned me into an urban explorer

Thx for the upload. Had a good read of the comments, I liked how some people took the time to explain how these kinds of sounds make them feel or what it reminds them. I think its a good place to do that since not everyone in general is willing to hear about dark and or sometimes depressing stuff. Thats something I always loved with music, how it can remind me of things , or just make me feel something or read about people relating to this stuff in some way or another , just like I do relate to that.
Me personally, I like listening to the SH soundtrack because I think these songs got some kind of soul , (gonna speak for myself) it makes me think, consider things, make me feel emotions here and there. It may sound crazy, but I think its important for me to cherish every emotions im able to get, even if its glimpse of sadness or whatever, at the end , it makes me feel somewhat alive and here on this planet.
Been struggling with mental stuff for a couple years now. Had a huge psychosis 4-5 years ago and even if im still there and can still think, and I guess say some intteligent things from time to time, I havent felt the same ever since. At some point I felt like I was below the abyss zone (mentally speaking) and things got a little better over time, but it clearly affected my brain in some vicious way, having a harder time thinking straight, huge lack of emotions and care for things I should and many more problems that resulted from that. Lot of hopeless shit happened to me, but somehow somewhere I got hope for something better.
Things got a little bit better over the years, but when im stuck with myself, I often realise there is somekind of void in my brain, that nothingness and calmness can be relaxing , but at times it get scary.
My best advice, if someone is living something similar, is too always keep hope, and make sure your foundations stay solid, do not neglect sleep,eating and the basics. Despite all the stuff mentioned above, I managed to quit drugs over a year ago, get back to work, and had some good moments despite all numbness, sometimes time heal , and the bad times fade away. Everybody deserve a shot at hapiness, have a good day all.

I love this for meditational introspection. Yamaoka tapped into something bigger than himself with this one.

I usually listen to music on full blast but this is one of the few things i listen to in low volume to give it a sense that its playing in the distance like something far from me and i can't reach, reminds me of all the things i long to from the past but time is moving on and i can no longer have them

SH2! What a masterpiece of a game, still love it decades later. The soundtrack is superb and nothing comes close to the feelings the music inspire while you are playing the game.
This song is so beautiful it’s like I’m traveling into another dimension or universe and I’m in the loading screen of it.
I love how isolating and reflective this feels. Alienation gives way to meaningful change. To immerse one's self in a personal purgatory until clarity finally washes over you. The fog may obscure the truth but it is also what draws us inward, demanding that we face the unthinkable.

This picture really ties in with the ambient sounds. I imagine that the feeling I get from listening to this video is what she "feels", standing there looking out the window. Everywhere, there's chaos, except this room. I find it really soothing.

Anyone here know about Silent Hill mainly through the music? I've never played any of the games all the way through but the aesthetics of the series are captivating, the soundtrack especially, takes u to another world

Yes, my first introduction was to "Alone in the town". I found that song at a very special time in my life, years ago. The world of Silent Hill has always captivated me but to this day I haven't finished any of the games.
I do think you need to play the games to understand the soundtracks. But it's enjoyable nonetheless.
The soundtracks appear at certain points in the games to convey different types of emotions. The beauty of it comes from that.
I swear this song reminds me when I was in hs and just living day by day. Not a care in the world. And now just doing adult stuff is so draining and exhausting but we keep pushing throughout this hard times in what we call life 🖤.
It feels comforting and yet there's a sense of uncertainty of the unknown you can't quite shake away.
I love these comments so much. It all sums up how I feel about this series. I cannot explain how much Silent Hill has saved my life countless times. When I feel like the world is ending for me, I always find myself coming back to playing and listening to the music of this game for comfort and just a safe space overall, despite what the games themes entail lol. There's just something about this game that is just so immersive and drawn to me. I think a big factor of why is because the atmosphere, THE MUSIC, and what the games storyline is. Like for example, most of the monsters in this game represent the protagaints own psyche and how they discover the meaning behind the town that has shaped around them as their own personal hell (Silent Hill 2 to be exact), and that fascinates me, making me think of what my monster would look like and how I could overcome my own problems projecting within the town.Thank you Team Silent for everything, thank you for making a game that expressed everything that I feel, into a series. I will never ever forget this. Who knows, I'll probably get a tattoo of Halo of the Sun one day lol.

The Day of night is one of my fav soundtracks. It just captures Silent hill so well. And the scene it plays in with Laura It fits so well. That’s what this ost represents to me, innocence.
