I do mostly motorway miles in mine and sitting at 70 on cruise, I get about 55 mpg. I can get 60 plus in 50 zones and looking at my BMW app I have done 14000 miles since new and it tells me my average mpg is 50 mpg across all driving. Just drove Brighton to Liverpool return and still got third of a tank left. Over 700 a tank.

Had a 2019 530d G31 for two years. Now a 540d LCI G31. Already the 530d was such a punchy car. The 540d has the option to activate BMW IconicSound via BMW ConnectedDrive Service for 150€. Interestingly (but not a surprise) this fake motor sound (which you can switch on and off) makes it appear even more sporty. A lot of money but makes a pretty expensive car more fun to ride on a twisty road... So absolutely worth it. The rear wheel steering is a really really nice option as well. My 530d did not have this option and this is really a noticeable difference. I can switch it off and on while driving in my 540d by activating snow chain mode. By doing this, you can't believe the difference.... In real life this feature simply seems to make the car less understeering in tight fast corners. This was a fun breaker with the 530d. This car without this feature appeared really front heavy in fast tight corners whereas the 540d with rear wheel steering doesn't.
What do you think about the 530d mht?..also the sound by the videos you can tell it s unpleasant to hear the rough tickles when the car is stationary ...what do you think about it as an owner is it acceptable to hear or you get some questions from strangers whether the car has an engine prob..thanks
I’ve just got myself my first BM - a 320i and I love it coming from a Passat. I now want a 530d though - ha. Keep mine for 2 years, and I reckon I’ll have one of these. Good review.
Great review. I’m looking at these today. They are great cars and the diesel engine is epic. I was looking at the 540i, but now I’m torn between fun and economical driving.
@@wiktorkaczmarek34 Not really I used to do lots of town driving which lead me to buy my petrol Lexus and get rid of my Diesel. I only do 10 miles each way to work although it's all motorway. I'd get a 530i but coming from a V6 seems like a downgrade getting a 4 banger.
I checked some websites and it seems that this engine can hit 330hp 720nm with just a standard stage 1 ecu remap. You could be right about the car being remapped, but BMW does tend to understate their figures, and also not every single engine has exactly the same power. This could possibly just be a 'better' engine than other 30d engines. Either way it's a very impressive car.
yes it is the perfect 5 series even tho design wise the facelift looks better. the origianl g30 has the best features. for some reason they took out the engine on off automation button in the facelift
If i had to buy one, i’d go for the 530D in this video but that’s only because i like how BMW’s handle. The A6 is actually a better car in a few aspects.

i had bought year old 630D x drive m sport with 8 thousand miles on the clock from bmw birmingham , had to go back 4 times in a year and bmw customer service is poor and had to wait long time for them to see my car . the car 3.0 d is smooth effortless but never felt quick ........... i sold back to bmw for cash and bought skoda superb 272 sportline plus , and getting out the bmw into the skoda ,the skoda is a lot quicker would run rings round the bmw . had that for 2 years and had to go back once for faulty glove box mechanism ........... think the 6 series had 6 seconds to 60 and the skoda 5.3 but it felt much quicker ..... had 3 vrs which i loved ............. i do like the new shape x3 but reliability and customer service am not sure , maybe buy a range rover ? not that i want one or ever had one but you can buy them at the moment for 15p ................ha ha
Sadly I earn shi1 money Tbh, so I won't be able to afford one of these. Maybe if I get myself on benefits and pay a coach £250 to show me what to put down on the benefits online form and whatever additional information I need to give, then hopefully you tax payers can help me with this purchase? What do you say? Slave away for the next 35 years and nothing to show for it... OR not slave away, steal from and cheat the benefit system (where I would also be able to do things whenever I want and anytime pretty much) Yep, I'm going with, or thinking about the benefits route Tbh. Sorry folks, blame your government 🤷🏻♂️ I dunno!?

That's still very good. I'm a cab driver with Merc e220 (w212) and I get average 47-48 mpg city and round about 60 mpg on motorway.
This engine is perfect for this car. The colour suits this car so well. Perfect for motorway miles.

Have the 540i...50k troublefree miles and 34MPG in mixed driving,the best BMW's still come with a 6 cylinder petrol
My 2020 530d RWD did 1/4 mile dragy in 13.67 seconds standard on the street - they're quicker than expected.
BMW 530e has a pretty good engine, looking at 530d without mild hybrid
There is no LCI 530d without mild hybrid only the last generation with 265 hp had it

You can avoid the start/stop function by going into sport mode and configuring back to comfort mode
I'm debating if I should go for a 530d or 540i, I like the torque of a diesel but I'm worried as I do mainly 10 mile stints up the motorway to work.
Do you do longer drives every once in a while? 10 miles might not even be long enough for the diesel to fully warm up

I think this car is remapped. On the sport displays, Torque is hitting close to 700nm while the power is close to 220-230KW. Much higher than stock.

I'd say so yeah. the MHT system makes the start stop seamless as well as adding even more low down torque.

Hard to say but i’d probably end up with a M340D touring. If you want more comfort though this 5 series is insanely good.

Audi does seem to be a better day to day car though and interior looks smarter
530d is made for the Autobahn, 520d is more than enough for everyone without Autobahn access. ;---)
