Evolution of the Toronto Subway

- A virtual time-lapse of the Toronto Subway.
The placement of stations, tracks, and addresses are approximate and may not accurately represent where they are in real life.
The addresses underneath the station names were taken from a variety of old TTC maps and banners, and may not match the addresses found on the TTC website. I wanted the addresses to match the streets the subways were located on. (ex. Yonge Street addresses for the Yonge Subway). For Lines 5 and 6, the addresses used are of nearby buildings.
The Toronto Transit Commission is the City of Toronto’s public transit provider. Metrolinx is a Crown agency responsible for integrating transit in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area. Visit ttc.ca or metrolinx.ca for more up-to-date information on transit in Toronto.

I hope in the next 10 years there will be the OL, Eglinton east and west, Yonge north, and Sheppard extensions for you to animate 😍
Definitely not in the next 10 years. They can't even start construction on yonge north until OL is completely finished

Very interesting, I never knew they were going to make a line 6. I knew that line 5 was being made for Toronto's very first LRT line but I didn't know that was going to be the case for line 6. Although I also wonder if line 4 will ever have an extension added on in the future maybe they help cover the old line 3 area that is going to shut down soon with no replacement in the plans except shuttle buses.
there is an expected line 2 extension to replace the skytrain, its about as confirmed as line 6 (Ontario Line) which is basically confirmed
Isn’t the Ontario line called line 3?
@@Kishanth.J Yes. But its taking that name from the current line 3 Scarbough, which is going to be decommissioned(actually due to the derailment might even already be)

From 1985 to 2002 we added 1 extra extension

I'm so proud of the TTC
Come a long way since my childhood.
Planners from all levels of government screwed up decades ago. No Spadina extension or Lakeshore extension in Toronto and woefully slow municipal, provincial and federal transport meant ridiculous congestion and expensive retrofitting that has been debated for decades. Toronto will never be where it needs to be.

there's already a scarborough line, line 3, rapid transit.
@@thehamiltonfirefighter4746 the rt is very bad, but they are starting to extend to sheppard, also im pretty sure the rt is gonna get shut down too. Also the RT does not cover all of scarborough
It's not going to get any bigger than 4 lines or even dig deeper in the crayon box (missing line colors were Orange, Red, and Indigo)
