Why does Toronto's subway system have slow zones?

  • On any given weekday, the TTC subway sees about one million people hopping on. If you’re a rider, you may have noticed that commutes have been longer because of something called reduced speed zones. These are spots along Lines 1 and 2 that the TTC has identified as places that need track repair. CBC's Kelda Yuen took a ride to see how slow the trains go, and why the TTC says it's necessary.
