- Tubes, tubes, and more tubes! The Ampeg SVT-VR is a vintage reissue of an early 1970s "Blue-Line" SVT head. The preamp stage, power section, and even rocker switches emulate the exact signal path, tone, and vibe of the original rock 'n' roll workhorse. Authentic from its input jack all the way to its six 6550 output tubes, the SVT-VR is a must-have for rockers seeking that in-your-face Ampeg bass tone.

I've always wanted to have a big Ampeg stack, but knowing me, it would never leave my house but there's no way I'm lugging it to gigs. Sick sounds!
That Ampeg tone is iconic.
I'll never sell mine. It sits right next to the mini VR
85 lbs!!! Who the F can carry that around on the regular. Sounds freaking great though, ha!
but.. you never even turned the amp up...
I do not know much on this amp, the warwick sounds just crazy on this amp
Still use this beast with 2 8x10s can’t beat the sound. Funny enough first one I bought back in late 70s I paid 600.00 for used head & cabinet mint condition. Had 3 at one time if I’d known how much they’d be worth now I’d never sold them. Used to run it same way patch cord between 2 channels.
The trick is to run one channel straight , then jump the second channel to the boost box to overdrive it & have a blended 2 tone sound
Is anyone else confused by the fact that most of the player clips clearly show another rig entirely than the amp being featured and reviewed?
That girl with the p bass was not playing through the amp
“For rockers seeking that in-your-face ampeg bass tone”
slams credit card on table
I had one of those with an 8x10 cabinet 30 years ago. Best rig I ever had.
I’m a guitarist, but always wanted to try bass, this video convinced me ,i recently got an SVT VR, with a 4x15 huge marshal cab i found for cheap locally,i LOVE IT!!! Now i play bass and guitar, and it’s challenging, each time i switch from bass to guitar ,everything seems easy ,and so soft ,it’s weird in a good way!!
Absolute beast of an amp. I got one of these, about 7 years ago, and it still amazes me how much power this monstrum brings to the table.
What can be said? It's simply perfect!
Great video. Lots of different basses and tonal demos. Best VR demo/review out there.
Man, that sounds insanely good! Great review, boys!
I played bass for 45 Years, it was my favorite amp along with a jazz bass.
Great video guys! Sunison (my dog) doesn't like how loud the amp is but man do I love it!
