It's devastating Dr John McDougall is gone. I still can't believe it. Dr John McDougall will never be replaced.
Dr. Mcdougall was the first doctor I saw on RUclips talking about the plant based diet. After watching his video on how to reverse diabetes,I was like “ I can do it, I can eat like that” 7.5 years later I’m still plant based and 50 lbs lighter. Thanks to Dr. McDougall.

Thank you for this wonderful tribute. I first met Dr. McDougall through his books. The truths in those books astounded us and completely shifted our paradigms. We went vegan cold turkey and never looked back. Later, we went to several of Dr. McD’s ‘health talks’ seminars to hear from the good doctor and like-minded professionals, at the Flamingo Hotel in Santa Rosa. His passion to help people regain their health was palpable and sometimes moved me to tears. The McDougall Diet definitely saved my husband’s life and greatly improved mine; best of all, we became critical thinkers like our medical guru, John A. McDougall. To fully understand that our “healthcare system” in 1995 was nothing more than a self-sustaining sickcare program - was a life saving gift and awakened our own humanity and desire to inform others. Knowledge is truly Powerful indeed. We are eternally grateful to Dr. McDougall. 🙏❤

A few years ago, I watched & enjoyed many many hours of both his and your videos which inspired me to change my eating habits, helped me lose weight, and feel healthier!!!
I have enormous gratitude and respect for Dr. McDougall and for his seemingly tireless compassion, commitment, and integrity to help people regain and keep their health simply and naturally inspite of opposition from Big Pharma and other entrenched medical interests.

So sad to hear. Started listening to John during the pandemic in 2020 and he changed my life. He will be so missed.
I never met Dr John McDougall but found his videos about 6 years ago and they changed my life for the better. I am certain that his fantastic work will continue through his family, friends colleagues and the many people he helped throughout the years.

Nobody can ever replace Dr John McDougall he was such a unique human being like there are alot of stars but very few people like Elvis and Michael Jackson ,same thing with Dr McDougall,there are alot of Doctors but nobody like him ..he was always like a family member like the grandfather you wish you had...❤

It really is hard to do justice to a towering figure like Dr John McDougall. Like so many others, I remember scouring RUclips for every video I could find with him speaking, and hanging off every word. He was such a reassuring figure, and helped shape the foundation of my plant-based eating. I really appreciate you sharing these personal insights, Andrew.

Exelent tribute! He was one of a kind doctor, a truth seaker and a fighter, and a true gentleman. Many years from now the next generations will be learning who was researching and pushing for the best possible way for humans to eat, and it was dr. John Mcdougall, he will be forever remembered

“John McDougall was the most hard core punk rocker I knew…”. Hell yeah! Perfect description. Dr. McDougall is my favorite plant-based doctor. His no-BS, cut straight to the truth explanations resonated with me. He loved people and truly wanted to see them get well. Awesome man, he will be missed.
John had a great and rich life with a great family and friends, even if he as a young adult suffered some injuries. He was able to turn things around and prolonged his life a lot due to healthy foods. It’s not how many years you live, it’s the life quality and health during the years that you get that is the only thing that counts. Here John is a winner. Living another 10 or 20 years with poor health is not an option.

I had stumbled upon a Utube video of Dr. John McDougall in December and ordered The Starch Solution right away. I have been onboard with WFPBNO since January and it has been so easy to take on this new way of eating for health. Dr. McDougall touch the lives of many with his work and the world is a better place because of him. Thank you for sharing your story of this amazing man.

We, in the US are all devastated. We share your heartbreak for sure. We lost a huge giant that is NOT replaceable. 77 is not old. He was in his prime; he was at his best. He cared and shared all his powerful knowledge to the world so we can live a healthier lifestyle. For all of us who knows his teachings and believe in his starch solution we must continue his legacy. My heart and thoughts goes out to Mary today, tomorrow and all the tomorrows ahead. You and l and so many others out there are his living proof that his way is the right way to live. It's the foods folks....it's the McDougall's Starch Solution ❤
His influence reached far outside the US. He will be greatly missed globally.

Oh no!!....R.I.P Dr McDougall and thank you for all you have done for me! This is a tough one and will take a long time to process and come to terms with. My thoughts are with his family and many friends.
It won't change anything but I am still wondering what happened. He just seemed so vibrant and upbeat but perhaps anno dominie gets to us all in the end. Sadly 😥

It is very sad to hear that Mcdougall has gone to heaven. Barry groves said eat all the animal fat you want and he died in his sleep at 77. Both Groves and McDougall didn't believe in many low starchy vegetables. McDougall recommended people kept the stomach room for starchy foods such as potatoes and Groves recommended people packed in the fat like cream, fatty cuts of meat and thought there was no need for fibre. For longevity packing in the dark green vegetables, rich in vitamin K, folic acid and calcium seems very important in reducing cancer risk, preventing heart disease and improving overall cognitive well-being. Interestingly, Caldwell Esselstyn, a plant basd doctor, who is still alive at 90 years old is a great believer in packing in dark leavy vegetables such as kale.
