Karnataka cuisine is a South Indians paradise. The variety of dosas and idles and Bajis and tiffin items is amazing. They really know how to experiment with the batter and come up with surprising varieties of South Indian fare. Also the chutneys r truly a class apart . Especially Udipi cuisine is such a delight though other regional cuisines from Karnataka r also gaining prominence outside the state in recent yrs. Got to hand it to the Kannadigas. They really have a claim to the best South Indian tiffin items. But in terms of sambhar slightly disappointing. The excess sweetness is a very acquired taste. Are there other types of sambhar in Karnataka other than the sweet one ?

we have variety of sambhar/saaru in karnataka other than sweet sambar available mostly in restaurants.
Few are busaaru, uppusaaru, huli . These are amzing combinaton with mudde(raagi ball) and rice
