Obviously I was winging this a little bit. Hope it gave you some ideas! Have you done something like this and have tips? Feel free to share them for others! Cheers!
Thanks for this, I'm planning on building a variation over the winter. I have a Smittybilt SRC (tube) rack, so I was thinking of using a round pipe and attaching it to my rack with pipe clamps in order to maintain my black tubing look - and have it be removable, as my Jeep is also a daily driver. This is great and way simpler than the "roll up into a PVC pipe" style awning.
I’m thinking of using your concept but with extended poles running down my JLUR jeep Front to rear over the hood. I’m in the desert and shade is key. Fishing 🎣 rig
Impressive. I would add Velcro around the edges and a netting material to prevent those peski bugs. . I would have made this but I already got the arb with the netting material. Plus it closes up to make life easier when changing clothes or cleaning up the private parts.
Thanks! Hoping to hit the road west in the next few weeks and get some more road content. Just upgraded and built a new bed platform, so new video on that coming soon too!
Stellar video. Can't wait to add this to mine! Newbie Q for you: this seems semi-permanent with the shrink wrap at the bottom of the U-bolt... how often do you remove yours from the rack, if ever?
the bungees that r new er style & sinch down r slick & if u had 2 as a cross support x underside of tarp it might give it a bit more wind rating, esp if under side of tarp had loops to run bungee thru.
More explanation about the nested poles on the roof rack in the permanent installation and deployment desired. I can imagine what to do but, video seems incomplete.

Hey great ideas. I liked the use of shrink wrap idea too.
