I am a retired pastor. Our job is to look after the sheep, if one has a pastoral calling. Fit in where your Calling can be fully utilized by the Lord. Obey God, do it well, and it should not matter what title you are called. We are answerable to God alone. Just humbly serve him. Big ways, small ways, any way as long as it is God's way.
Thank you for sharing God's calling on your heart. It is touching my heart likewise. I am not a minister in a local church. But God has done extraordinary things in me. I have wanted to go on the road and reaching out as I go. He is prepping me and I believe He will provide and protect if this is what He wants me to do. I am a 65 year old widow and I surrender everything back to Him for all He has done and continues to do in my life.
I’m a pastor’s kid and grew up in the church. Our churches have always been small so I’ve been helping out in various ministries (as a pastor’s kid does) since I was 7. When I was in my 20s, I got burnt out and decided that it was time to step back. During that time, I attended a bunch of larger churches where I felt I could just worship, listen to the word and then leave. But after a while my spirit felt parched for something more. I feel like big churches are great for bringing people in but small churches are where you go to grow. There is something about the intimacy and a feeling of truly being a family in a small church. There are fewer hands, less funds and it becomes more about stepping up to fulfill a role in the body versus it being paying gig. Everyone is there because they want to be there. The church culture now is so focused on aesthetics and being current to bring in people - so much so that the Word is warped to fit the mold of the world.
Very well said. I agree with you 100 %. I actually got turned off completely by the evangelical church when I was baptized with my 3 teenage children and the pastor wanted me to change my testimony. It didn't fit with his idea of being saved I guess. I found smaller churches for the most part had pastors that were much more accessible and preaching because they were called to, not for the paycheck and title.
Man, I really resonate in heart to your story! I’m a PK in a small church and recently I’ve been teetering on burnout and considering venturing towards a larger community where I could rest in more. After reading your story, I’m reflecting on the value of the small church, but I’m still grieved at the ambition of wanting to grow where I find myself and others quick to overlook who’s in attendance and often mention who’s not while hoping so much to fill empty seats. I’m really hungry for pure discipleship, content and godly relationship, and the humility of the Jesus-exampled ministry. Even now, I’m wresting with this internal conflict of wanting to simplify even more and commit to serving in life in and out of the church walls (like influencing kingdom at my workplace in the grocery store, school, friendships, and home) while still honoring the good of regular gathering and assembly.
Truth. Church culture now is filled with paganism and feeling like you’re going to a social club or Broadway production rather than being focused on and learning about Christ and being disciples.
Hi Jon, great video. I have also left a mega church after leading worship there for a few years. After I read the Bible in full for myself, I realized the great divide between the Word of God and this “mega church modern day Christian” movement. I am now apart of a house church with 10 other people. We literally meet in a basement with our bibles and a guitar. It was has been life changing and the Lord has moved in supernatural ways. He has increased our zeal, our boldness, our humility, our wisdom and our love for one another and our desire to serve our city. You’re on the right track and you’re not alone! 👍🏼
Your are right about your decisions brother some of these mega churches they are not in the "Look for lost souls and rescues them and help them walk with Christ Daily" they've Lost that Kind of Love for other's they are more on the new member's....so more members more tithes and offering....
I call mega churches franchise restaurants....once they go franchise the quality lessens. It's been a long time since I actually felt anything being sardine packed in a mega church. Mostly annoyance and wanting to just leave.

This is my journey too. I was a young adult when God called me out of my church. And it was the most difficult and agonising decision bcoz I was so active in church. I was a youth leader. He "demoted" me to a humble and small house of prayer. And little did I know that was the most glorious part of my journey. I fell in love with Jesus so hard from this small prayer community. My years in this small group taught me that Christianity is not just about faithfully going to church, reading the bible, having a ministry. They taught me to walk and enjoy Jesus on a daily basis. I found Jesus in the secret place. They gave me the greatest revelation in my life: intimacy with Him. Now I enjoy being with Jesus even when I'm just washing dishes. I may not have a ministry now to call my own nor a title but I really really love talking to Jesus when I'm just doing mundane things. I feel like I know Him more now than when I was in church. I just love Him too much now 😭 and I am learning to love people too around me because if this relationship.

The Bible is Jesus. Christianity is always about the daily bread 🍞 which is His word. I can see your point on congregating and ministry but the word is daily.

In a nutshell, putting discipleship in its proper place of priorities.
Amen. And programmed to build churches. Many churches don't have programmes that service the Community , such as social services, councillers for various social issues, food programmes. Many mega churches do have food and school programmes, many out of their areas. I always wonder... Where do all the millions go? Would be interesting to see as many donate towards these....

But you know when Jesus come he is not going to ask how much healing you did and your works.....he is going to ask is, did you obey God's commandments? and do you know how you get eternal life? Please read Mark 12:29,30 and read John17:3. This is the truth that you have to share. Jesus quoted in Mark 12:29,30 from dueteronomy 6:4,5 What is John 17:3? There it says you have to know the one true God and knowing the One whom he sent Jesus. One true God is Jeremiah 10:10 Jesus the promised seed our saviour. John 20:8 what is it ? Those who do not believe Jesus is the son of God are anti christ. So in John 2:22 says Who is the liar? It is whoever denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a person is the antichrist-denying the Father and the Son. Who is the father? Who is the son.? If you have found from the above verse you got eternal life. Everybody has to know this truth.
Nothing irritated me MORE than pastors in the midst of Covid being SILENT. A few DARED to have Church, in homes, and healings, signs and wonders flowed. That is CHURCH, standing up to darkness and saying NOT ON MY WATCH!!!
@@savannahsmiles1797 We had also seen a real good example of a pastor who did not bother about Covid 19 to visit a family where one of the members died of Covid.He attended the funeral program. After some days all the family members of the pastor were infected with Covid but God kept them alive.
May God bless you richly for your obedience and courage! He also pulled me out of a full time pastorate about 15 years ago... and put me in an outlaw motorcycle club! I served the role of a chaplain, and started a custom painting shop to pay the bills, while reaching men whom the church considered unreachable. It was not easy, but if God leads you to it, He'll lead you thru it. I will be praying for you. And you are right - the mission field is OUTside the church walls. The purpose of church, in my opinion, is to train and prepare people to go OUTside and reflect Jesus to the world. God Bless!

Obeying the Holy Spirit is always the top priority. But people don’t have to leave their church in order to evangelize in the street, or in the prisons, or in the neighborhoods. They can stop participating in the things that God is not calling them to do. And they can do the thing they’re supposed to do. so, maybe on whatever day your church meets, you go and participate in the piece of it that has your core group of believers that you can be praying for, and they can be praying for you and for the people you minister to. That might be on a Sunday, Saturday, a small group meeting during the week, and just skip the mega part of it. and there may be days when you intend to gather with other believers somewhere, and God directs you in a completely different direction for some divine appointment he has set up. And that might just be for one day, for that specific moment. I don’t think there’s an “all or nothing“ direction for the Holy Spirit because he works through all sorts of people in all sorts of places.
This is an amazing testimony. While, I don’t believe in coincidences I’ve been sensing the same thing for the past two years that God is moving us back to the basics and eliminating distractions. When I first saw the title I was almost afraid to listen but so glad that I did because I am now encouraged to take the next steps and the journey I know but the first step of faith

Hello Jon. Thank you for sharing your experience in the ministry of church especially for the youth group. I concur and agree with your points and I, too, have been involved in the youth ministry in the education department of church for the last four decades. I recently stepped down from all my duties from the positions that I held. Over the years, I have noticed that the worship especially the praises have gotten more and more like the secular concerts that I used to go when I was a teenager and in my college time. Like you had mentioned the lights were always dimmed resembling any night clubs. Many times, they were so focused on events and activities and getting emotional during service and they call it the activity of Holy Spirit. Yes, that’s why they are called programs. For so many years, many youths have been programmed into thinking that that’s the only way to serve God. This led me to many regrets and resentments. This certainly is not the way the people in the old and new testaments worshipped God. I think we have lost sight of having relationship with God and rather we’ve been so busy and caught up with doing things thinking that we were doing them in the lead of the Holy Spirit. We need to get back to the grind and the Scriptures and find out truly what pleases God; not us. Shalom.

That’s wonderful but church is about fellowship, using gifts to help other Christians and discipleship of the body of Christ. Outreach to the community is a ministry.
@@toliveischrist950 Feeding the homeless is not a ministry. It's what the bible describes as pure religion. Jesus was glaringly on the side of the poor and needy, oppressed groups of people. Nowadays, the Evangelical church has meltdowns at the thought of their taxes going to the poor and needy, but wants the government to oppress the LGBTQ community and other groups they hate. The evangelical church is the body of Pharisees, not the body of Christ. The musical entertainment is the only thing that makes it attractive to people, without their cool hipster bands it would die a death.

I appreciate your message I dont know how I found your video, but I needed to hear this. I have been feeling this way for several years and struggled with the guilt of my feelings. You explained it perfectly and I felt like a weight was lifted off of me because I love my church family. . I do believe God put this on my heart. His ministry is in us everywhere we go because people aren't going to the church. We do have to be His church and go to the people. Thank you so much for your transparency.
I totally agree with you and I actually have sat down from ministry in the church for 7 months now and my ministry is now my kids raising them the kingdom way. I was so busy focusing on the show in the church my life and my kids were being neglected spiritually. Since then I've had a huge process of rejection and looking like a fool for God but I know I'm smack dab in the middle of HIS Will now.

Just as "in the beginning," God has always been into relationships. Once you have a relationship with God, it will not be "I believe," it will be I know. I have felt the love of God on 2 occasions. Wept both times.He told me things that kept me out of trouble several times. I could go on and on!
We don't have a personal relationship with God. As powerful as God is, there is no way for any being to have a personal relationship with millions of people at the same time. We love God by our relationships with other people. The only people who had a personal relationship with Christ was his disciples. You would serve God better helping in a soup kitchen rather than sharing your beliefs. Christians have been indoctrinated by the evangelical Church. God doesn't care if you don't "witness" to others. God cares that you obey the greatest commandment. To love God and love others. And it is one and the same thing, loving others is loving God. We don't need to rescue people from a place of eternal torment invented by the Church powers to control people. That is a message of fear and that doesn't come from Christ.
Hi Jon, I think what you have shared is truly anointed. My husband and I attend a very small church and there have been times when it's been discouraging when we don't see it grow. However, for some reason God has used us despite our size. I think our Pastor has very similar thoughts as you do and he encourages all in the church to go out and be the church! Not just expect others to come to us. The Lord has given you a very powerful message and I hope that it will encourage and equip those that view it.
Wow this was right on time. Judging from the comments, a lot of folks are feeling the same way. I left church right before covid and tried to start a small house ministry. It worked for awhile but fell apart after a year or so; it’s hard to get that church mentality out of people. “Be the church” sounds so tired and cliche, but it’s the absolute truth! I’m devoting myself to really trying to do just that. It’s pretty lonely because the sad fact is a lot of Christians just don’t want to do that. They’re ok with just “doing church”. I’m sure the current way we do church still has a purpose for some, but I truly believe God is calling some people out of the four walls and preparing them for something new.
I have also been called out, and this message is what I received from God as I went to Malawi, Africa, to share the good news of the kingdom of God. So many there are living only a religious Christianity, but not living as Christ's disciples. I saw god do many mighty miracles and healings through us as we went in obedience to his word,, "laying hands upon the sick that they will be healed, casting out demons, and seeing very little food we Hardee's many with leftover's. Every believer will be held accountable to God. So make sure you stay in constant contact with other believers and worship God together so you're not prone to fall into the pitfalls and temptations of Satan. Because he's waiting and plotting. 🙏
Yes and Amen! Been in the institution for a few decades and God woke me up 2 years ago, started a house church, which gave me a revelation for the church. We started a ministry www.everyjointsupplies.org which the Lord put on our heart to equip, grow and build the church like Ephesians teaches us. Thankful God has given you a vision as well!

I fully understand your stance .. likewise we’ve left few churches that invested more in their programs than equipping the congregation for a closer walk with their saviour. To understand what worship truely is .. it’s more than emotional singing.. salvation and Regeneration is more than just saying a prayer.
This is so true.. Almost two years ago i was a Church Fulltimer also. Exactly God spoke to me the same. I started my own business with a little doubt and intimidation because of a small voice saying that i had left my calling but hey God have been tought me lessons and confirmation to keep doing the business and He blessed me a lot. At the same time i also can started the ministry in different way and I'm glad it can blessed and reach more people. So thank you for giving me the confirmation. God bless with the new journey. You aren't the church, or even a genuine Christian. Genuine Christians were first century Jews and non-Jewish descendants of the tribes of the northern kingdom of Israel who were dispersed among the nations, people who were dead under the law and its curse, had transitioned out of the old covenant and were restored to eternal life (a restored covenant relationship with their god) via Christ’s new covenant. They were descendants of the twelve tribes of Israel who were being gathered into Christ before the end of the age of the old covenant religious system and temple community. That in a nutshell is what the entire New Testament is about. They were people from the houses of Judah and Israel who believed in Jesus. They had once been under the law and its curse, were the recipients of the covenants (Rom 9:3-4) and of Christ’s new covenant (Rom 11:26-27, Heb 8:8) before the end of the age, which was in AD70. They were both uncircumcised and circumcised Israelites who had been called in the generation read about in the New Testament. Whether they were circumcised Jews or uncircumcised Israelites (referred to as Gentiles in numerous scriptures), they were told to remain in the same condition they were called (1 Corinthians 7:18-20) because the time of the end of the age of the old covenant religious system and temple community was near. There was no such thing as a non-Israelite Christian. There were only circumcised and uncircumcised Israelite Christians in the New Testament period, some of them referred to as ‘gentiles’ because they had stopped being Torah observant and had stopped practicing circumcision. After the need for the gospel ended in AD70, Greek so-called ‘church fathers’ hijacked bits and pieces of ancient Israel’s redemptive narrative and adapted it to their Greek culture. Theirs was just one of many competing faux versions of what would later become an institutionalized, non-Israelite faux Christian cult that excluded Jews from its version of salvation. The ‘church fathers’ were the preeminent fake Christians and racists. It’s been a circus of error ever since. People today who believe they’re Christians are sincere but highly indoctrinated to believe they are someone they are not, that they’re heading for a judgement that is purely imaginary and need a salvation and redemption that only old covenant Israelites needed.

Salvation for the disciples meant [Jews] being rescued from sin (violation of the law), the curse of the law (which only Israelites had and were under), their enemies, their perverse generation and the wrath of God. Nobody today is under ancient Israel’s law so nobody today sins. The god of the bible hasn’t saved any modern day so-called ‘Christian’ from their enemies and the ‘wrath of God’ was the end of the age judgment on the twelve tribes of Israel in AD70. There is nothing left for anyone to be saved from today. Matt 1:21 says Jesus came to save his people, which according to Mat 2:6, was Israel. Mat 15:24 says Jesus was sent ONLY for the lost sheep of the house of Israel. That’s not us. 1 Chron 17:21 says that God sought to redeem one nation (Israel), not everyone. Heb 9:15 says that redemption was for sin done under the first covenant. That means Jesus died for Israel, not us. Galatians 4:5 says Jesus came to redeem those under the law. That’s first century Jews and Israelites still under the law’s curse…not us. Paul’s mission was to the ethnos (nations) to call out the descendants of the tribes of Israel who had been dispersed among the nations, called gentiles because they had stopped being Torah observant and had stopped practicing circumcision. That’s not us. Jesus only warned Israelites of the judgement and hell (Gehenna), and only Israelites are seen in the Revelation as being saved, sealed and redeemed. From beginning to end, the bible is Israel’s redemptive narrative, not ours. People have simply tried to make it their redemptive narrative by reading themselves into the story. The entire bible’s redemptive narrative pertains only to those who were under the law or its curse, which was all old covenant Israel, not all humanity. Their story ended in AD70. We are not broken, not guilty and not sinners. We don’t need Jesus to forgive us of anything. There is no hell for anyone today. There is no judgement for anyone today. There is no need for salvation today. We were never part of the bible story. Post- AD70 so-called Christians have been duped by a misappropriated redemptive narrative that appeared soon after AD70. Its been a circus of error ever since.

They’re a mess. Many Christians today actually believe those fellows are the go-to guys for figuring out what we should believe today. Polycarp and others who followed him were not the elect. I’ve been doing this as a single mom for the last 30 years. I raised my kids up in athletics and in 2006 all three sons received football scholarships. But it was on the football fields, in high-school classrooms, in team dinner settings, and of course on the foot-ball field, I was and still am a Minister In The Marketplace. This is the new testament church in the book of Acts. Yes. “This little light of mine… I’m gonna let it shine.” God is good!

I'm Indonesian pastor and I believe that ministry is any activities, efforts and contributions assigned by the Lord, motivated by love to God and men, enabled by the Spirit, intended for God's glory and bringing down the heaven and His will on earth as it is in heaven. So God calls all of us to minister where ever we are and not just called to ministry
As a pastor myself, I went through a very similar journey. God called me to lead a church and began showing me that the way were set up, we were not effective in making disciples. A lot of the same things you shared are what God showed me, and since then, we have focused solely on how do we make disciples and empower the priesthood of all believers. COVID helped to change my mindset also. Thanks for sharing your story because sometimes I feel like I’m crazy because not many others have the courage to make the shift they can clearly articulate needs to happen. Thanks for your courage!
You got me crying. Thank you for sharing. I am "newbie" follower of Jesus, and I had been to a handful of churches during my first year as a Christian, and they just did not feel right for me. I felt like I was back in highschool trying so hard to fit in with each church's individual culture, to be accepted and liked. It distracted me from God. I was craving a genuine connection with God and His people. I hear Christians say " it is not about your feelings," and I get that point, however, with ALOT of time alone with God for these past few months due to a rare illness that has made me unable to be around others or really leave my apartment, I have had the opportunity to really study God's word and know God. At first I thought I would loose my faith by not being able to attend church and by being all alone. And yes, I definitely battled some severe depression from isolation. God has also taught me how being His disciple is every day, every hour, every second. God has totally emptied me out. I even lost all my possesions, even my child (long story). I plan on getting my child back when the time is right. God has rebuilt me layer-by-layer. I am a completely changed person. I have had to trust God completely as I have no income due to the illness, and I don't have family helping me. Somehow I am still fed, clothed, sheltered. I have suffered tremenously, but God is really using this illness for good. I am slowly learning how to share my story without complaining and victimization. Every day is a new lesson from God. When God heals me fom this illness, in His perfect timing, I am excited to share what I have learned with my son and with other people I encounter in my daily life.

That’s exactly what I felt seven years ago. Too much noise, too much music, too much activities, too much marketing, too much church strategies, too much busyness… I suffocated. I couldn’t bear it anymore. I decided to step out, just like you said. I prayed to God and I’m still praying for Him to make me holy. I prayed for true holiness and humility, quietness of spirit and true trust in Him. I feel so delivered and free now. True worship is in spirit. A spirit of submission and surrender. So true…suffocating is the right word there. We relocated to a country where there are no big churches and for the first time my conviction was not about how many services and events I attended, but whether or not I showed Kingdom Love to those at work who does not know Him, nor know about Him, and couldn’t even speak my language. Do they know that there must be something or someone out there that wants to include them and accept them in Love? Now that has become my conviction. All praise to Him.
I can totally relate to this. Sometimes in church, we become performers and I don't wanna invalidate people who come for pure worship but being inside the 4 corners of the church building traps you in the knick-knacks of the ministry. We often forget who we are first which is sons and daughters of God.
I relate to this and your comment. I was in the worship team at my old church and stepped down because, I felt like I was performing every time I sang and played an instrument. I’m not saying that everyone on the team was doing the same, but I longed for true worship. I ended up leaving that congregation, nothing against them at all, I still love them and talk to them from time to time. However, God called me out of there to yearn more of him and to learn more about his word. I prayed for a new congregation to join and this church I was following closely planted a church closer to where I live. Literally an answered prayer! Long story short, I am now in this new congregation and my faith is stronger than ever!

I, too, left church music ministry because of the emphasis on "professionalism", manipulation of the congregation, and "showmanship". God's power alone is enough to draw souls to Him- God doesn't need stage tricks, "Christian rock", or theatrics to bring people to the truth.
I appreciate you sharing this. I've been preaching for 22 years and I pastored a church for 10. I felt lead to step down in early 2020. It was a difficult step of faith, and most people around me don't understand. But God has been faithful. I still preach and God has been expanding my territory through social media. God bless.
You should be honest with yourself and speak truth, you were not led by God to be a pastor to begin with, you were just a hireling. Many churches do not have true shepherd's who are called by God to feed His sheep. Majority of the churches in today's world have hirelings for shepherd's. God doesn't make mistakes. Any so called pastor who claimed God called him to be a pastor and after whatever years later he claims that God is leading him to stop being a pastor is a liar. They should speak the truth, confess that they were really never called to be pastors, and for that reason are stepping down, not speaking lies by saying, God is leading me in the different direction bluh, bluh, bluh, lies. Repent.
By what evidence do you say your “territory” is expanding through social media? We’ve become a society of navel gazers. Of whores for personal attention. One on one accountability and relationship is how the church will grow.

Women cant speak in church. Dont ask people for 10% of their money. This disqualifies almost 100% of churches today. Anyway. If someone believes Jesus died and rose again God forgives their sins. Thats the gospel. Because bibles are everywhere today a church like in the NT might not be needed anymore. Bibles back then had to be hand copied so only churches could afford one so someone had to travel to a place where there wasa bible just to hear it. Brother, thanks so much for sharing - It's no accident that the youtube algorithm recommended this, as I'm wrestling with many of the same things right now. I've been in ministry for 7 years now, 3 years part-time, 4 years full-time. I'm recently on medical leave after being diagnosed with burnout and severe depression. I lead a worship ministry, and I've been so caught up with how many worship nights I put up, how many people attend, how many recordings we put out, and so on and so forth. It's gotten to the point where I started believing that God's love is dependent on how well I do these things. The Lord is reminding me that He loves me, not because of how much I can accomplish with my ministry, but simply because I'm His child. That I belong to Him. There's nothing that I can do that can separate me from His love through Christ. I don't know what lies ahead, but I'm sure of one thing: His love remains the same in every season. I'm not sure what to do next after this medical leave, but I know wherever He calls me next, that is the best place to be, whether in full-time ministry or not. It’s so difficult to keep our eyes on God and NOT on man. Satan is very active in ministries that are reaching souls for Christ. If we are emotional, sometimes we question WHY WE FEEL COLD, which NEVER COMES FROM CHRIST. PERHAPS God wants you in a completely different field, pretty sure he didn’t want you to be so depressed you had to take medical leave. FYI, As a preachers kid, brothers all in the mission field and another pastor. I pray you’ll get clarity from Abba, our Heavenly Father.
Brother, im very sorry to read that you got depressed, i dont know how , but i can tell you that when i was passing trough anxiety, and overwhelmed by a sickness i got , i went to the room, i prayed sincerely to God, with all i had, and he rescued me from taking pills, now im better Doug im still sick, but my soul is better 🙏 because i poured myself to Him in trust.
Go back to the basics, start over, who is Jesus, who is God? It’s not about the fun churches, loud music , dancing lights nor about preachers that teach a God who listens to what we want. I know that is why many of us give up that kind of belief is not enough.
My wife grew up in a Christian home. Herself and family have always served and heavily involved in church. Even she talks about this. I grew up in communism Hungary. I was an atheist until 2017. My first discussion about God was with a guy I met in university in Australia. He was a Christian. We would debate (friendly) and we would agree to disagree. This guy planted that seed many many years ago. You can say, his church was teaching them discipleship because here he was talking to an atheist about God. I respected him from day one because he didn't argue but listened to my views too. Fast forward, we are still close friends (both in our late 40s) and I attend his church now (not a mega church). That's what I think the church needs to do. Equip their young people on truth and be bold to speak especially with what's going on in universities nowadays, kids are getting indoctrinated and they get swayed easily with ideology of communism but disguised as socialism etc. To think about it I could have been one of those uni kids and left alone but fortunately there was a kid there too who stood his ground and God's truth and didn't shy from sharing it.
This has been my experience in the 2 years of covid. I was a volunteer church leader, involved in almost too many activities. When everything shut down, I entered into the secret place for the first time - just me and God. That’s where I learned that I was a servant, not a son. That God could rightly say p “depart from me, I never knew you.” Instead my Father brought me close, showed me things that I could only get by being in close proximity to him. He is not impressed with what I can do for Him - He wants a relationship with me. What a revelation. The world is opening back up and while I have visited the church, I have changed. No more “performance” Christianity. Not not sure what’s next but I do know I am a beloved son in whom my Father is well pleased. ♥️♥️♥️

When I was praying this morning the Holy Spirit revealed this to m the more we come closer to God the more He come closer to us you can be in the church and find out that you are far away from Him that's why He mentioned that in the bible others they only worship me with their lips whereas their minds are far away. The closer you come to Him the more you receive love peace, joy, knowledge, understanding etc. You learn to understand His word and live by it and become obedient to it.Thank you brother thank you for sharing your journey with the Lord Jesus.

Well said Jon, I'm from Australia and have been in and seen first hand at ministry level over many years how 'church' has now become a business. And sadly not a business for God but of profit and self deification. Looking forward to hearing what God has for you and all his faithful disciples.
I am so proud of you Jon. You know the true meaning of being God’s disciple. I’m 73 and grew up in the Methodist Church. After college sadly I drifted from going to church every Sunday. Later in life, after marring a Catholic, I missed church and decided to start back by going to a Sunday night service at a tiny Baptist church. I went almost every Sunday and Wednesday. Then, after almost a year, my husband asked if he could go with me. Praise The Lord! 🙏🏻 Not long after we started going to church there, he gave his life to Christ and was never the same. Everything in his life seemed brighter and he loved the fellowship, the pastor and the people. He became a deacon and served the parishioners and the church until he died of Pancreatic cancer four years ago. If there’s one thing that I could tell you about him, it would be that he love the Lord. I live in a small college town where over the years one of the reasons I had decided to no longer go to church was because it had changed. Just like you said. The church was always struggling to add bigger and better things to attract h the youth. Even though, at the time I was younger, I did not like the music or the waving of hands in the air and the strobe lights. I craved the peace of a sanctuary where you honor God and you sing true hymns of worship tell stories of Jesus and his love. When I found the little Baptist church it had all those things and more. I no longer go because ever they have turned to the same tactics as the other larger churches. All we need is Jesus and his word. Read the Bible, find the joy in his word and go out and share it like we used to. I know what you didn’t was unbelievably difficult, but I know you have found the place that God called you to be many years ago. I know you are happy doing God’s work, not the churches. If I had to sacrifice my complete happiness to see that he was saved, than it was worth every one of the 38 years we were married. He was a good man in every way, a very good man. We had no children, so that was not an issue. After reading your reply, it occurred to me that maybe that was my purpose in this life, to bring him to salvation. And for that one reason alone, I will always be thankful I married a catholic.

Great message! We can totally relate to it, after being in full time ministry for 19 years as full time workers, God called us to the market place. And now to operate with church without borders. We are all called to make disciples and to be Kingdom builders, not merely church builders. Well diggers not fence makers.

I love your spirit. I feel the same way. I moved from large churches to small churches as a part-time pastor with a fulltime secular job many years ago (in technology, it turns out) where He made work a ministry for me. Then social media. God even blessed me to start a RUclips channel 3 weeks ago (just like you did!) focused on reaching non-believers and helping to make peace between disagreeing factions in Christianity, and to make them disciples instead of denomination members. It's a new step and I pray the Lord will touch and bless you to make disciples for Christ.

Ive been struggling for the past 3 years with church life and where do i actually belong or fit in. I was just about to log on to my church service and listen to it when your video caught my eye. I am where you are right now and that has been my struggle. The Lord came to me when i was 10 years old and gave me a new heart and will to live for Him. He sent me to a church to be a blessing and thats all i have ever wanted to be, to show Gods love to those who don’t know Him and to be a blessing to anyone that surrounds me. I totally agree with you about us being the church!!! God can use us anywhere, any place. When the time was right, I left the church i had been in and God took me on an adventure. I had to trust God completely and He took me to places where i could only dream of going. But God used me for His purposes and i continue to trust in this amazing and awesome God. Your video is inspiring me to pray and ask God…….where next? We are all walking with the Lord…….Let Him lead us to where He can use us to be a blessing in the world, with people who are struggling everyday to find hope and peace in a world gone a bit crazy. HI! Thank you for this video. I used to be a church attendee since young and I totally agree with what you said. Today's "church" is nothing more than an entertainment hub. They used entertainment to attract "church" goers and they have to use entertainment to keep them. Sin, hell, and repentance is not preached because it's not popular and does not produce "numbers". Thanks to covid-19, I actually start spending all my time reading through the entire Bible and studying the word of God. To my surprise, there were a lot of verses being twisted to fit into the message the preacher have in mind. Everyone speaking gibberish instead of tongues, psychosomatic healing taking place instead of real healings, the famous people being flocked after services instead of the needy, poor and weak brothers and sisters. I thank God that my eyes are opened to the truth and I am happy for you too! I will be praying for you that your light will shine whenever you are because it is written, You are the light of the world, a city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 2 Timothy 4:3-5 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; 4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. 5 But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.
You may want to do deeper diving into Hebrews 10:25. Everyone uses the scripture in regards to attending church but there’s debate about that being so. Similar usage of such words referred to gathering to Christ and not necessarily a church.

finally a former pastor verbalized what I am going through right now watching my big church focusing on the externals, how to grow in numbers rather than looking inwardly reflecting if that is God's mandate for us Christians. And true, this pandemic is a blessing for me, a breather to look at these hustle and bustle going on in the church from a distance and see it at a bigger vantage point if God is really pleased with what we are pursuing. Yes ! Church corporations and repetitious religion have produced prosperous, but shallow, self-centered congregations who are so busy impressing each other they wouldn't recognize Jesus even if He walked down the center aisle of the sanctuary. Pastors speak things that tickle the ears and are very cautious not to say anything to upset those who contribute the most to the church's funds. The prosperity doctrine is still alive and well. We all need a wake-up call like the former pastor and develop a closer relationship with Jesus, listening for the voice or urging of the Holy Spirit, then step forward to do the actual Will of God in our lives. Expect great things
I was born in church (literally my mom gave birth to me at the back of the church in Nigeria). But I rememer back in 2016 when I walked away from the MEGA church and my parents thought I was backsliding; however, I felt the Holy Spirit leading me to take that move! I left and have downscaled the church i go to after and honestly have felt a move more and more, it has been life changing and life giving!! Thanks for sharing this!!
I watched this video yesterday, then in the morning my wife asked if I'm going to church, and I said yes! I've been involved in church since 10 years old in 1982. My mom moved alot, so I experienced going to small churches in the village and large ones in the city. Church for me is where God's people are at. God's people who could easily be caught up somewhere else like the prodigal. Church kept me busy with kingdom assignments and and ofcos, duties and systems that keep the "organization" active. The church is the bride of Christ, the vehicle in this journey is the local congregation - Leaders and leadership may focus much on doctrines that seek to keep us attending and in line, but God is faithful to speak to each and every one of us individually despite the pastor not leading according to hearing from God, and burning out from being busy. It is God who builds His church. No one comes to the Father unless drawn by the Spirit of God. I took 3 months off from the worship team, and did a prophetic course. In that time I attended church twice. I really needed the break. Today, 4th July, I felt at home in church. So good to see everyone again, and be part of a bigger family. Yes ministry is everywhere we go, and this is what you leaders should be teaching without assuming that the mega church must be shut down or is irrelevant. God knows every flock member and He uses them wherever they go. The pastor just doesn't know it because he's too busy using his gifts and talents in the church and DOESN'T TAKE A BREAK OR CONNECT WITH THE PEOPLE HE'S TRYING TO KEEP. So don't run away when a light bulb moment arrives, and bash yourself for working hard. Moses focused on God and led the people. He cared that they reach the promised land, and knew that only God could get them there. Despite Moses's best efforts, or short comings, God took His people across the Jordan. Jon, So glad you made this video. For years I have witnessed in my work places as a nurse. I have been reprimanded several times, got fired once, but always continued to go forward. I am working in a very difficult hospital now, but the Lord has provided fellow Christians to work beside me. We work with the homeless, with alcohol and drug problems, lots of psychosis and suicidal issues. God has provided funds for large print New Testaments in today’s language so people with mental illnesses that are highly distracted can relate to and begin to feel love and acceptance from the Lord. Jon, keep encouraging “normal” people to witness and share the love of Jesus at home, in their neighborhoods, and in their workplaces. We all have a mission to accomplish.
Hello Jon, and thank you dear brother for this amazing video and the message you have provided. I have been living in the United Kingdom for 27 years. I am a retired US Army veteran and my wife is a UK citizen. For more than 18 years we both served as leaders in a church here in the UK until the Lord called us (in a vision I received) as apostles and to run an apostolic ministry. At first we tried to basically imitate what we learn from the pastoral ministry (events, programs, etc.), but something didn't feel right as we were simply repeating doing "Church". And then, much to our relief, COVID hit and we were forced to close our church. We have chosen not returned to a church building, but instead we have been holding weekly online services, healing and deliverance ministries online and face to face, as well as often meeting in home groups to equip the body of Christ. My wife and I also have full time jobs and have never depended on a salary from the ministry. So, thank you again for your wonderful testimony, and we pray that the Lord continues to bless you in all you do! Blessings & Shalom!!
Loving the Lord and seeking him is so so important! Not just hearing, but also doing, unless we decieve ourselves... Imagine having a servant who heard and obeyed versus having a servant who heard. Welcome to this lonely yet fulfilling journey. It’s all about “in Christ”, remaining in Him, in His will and stopping ourselves from living in my own will. It’s the true beginning of pruning for the fruit in Christ. Hardest thing for me in this journey is to stop acting on my impulse and decisions and WAIT to understand His will and WAIT to confirm the will I thought was His. U will receive more and more revelation from Him yet more and more alone because the revelation will take us away farther and farther from this world and more and more to our true home and deep longing for His soon return. I can say this, most teachers and pastors are not teaching the truth of the gospel, because they were not taught by God. In [2 Timothy 2:15], it says, "study to show yourself approved unto God, a workman that need it not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." The apostle Paul is not my teacher or pastor. Jesus Christ is my teacher and pastor. Paul planted and Apollo's watered, but God gave the increase [1 Corinthians 3:6-8] so then neither is he that planted anything, neither he that watered; but God that give it the increase. By the way if the church is not built upon the Rock, it's not of God. [Matthew 16:18]
Yes! This video was also recommended to me. I'm excited and interested to learn from your new path. Everything you have said has been heavy on my husband and myself. The Holy Spirit pressed upon me to leave my full time career (which paid all our bills) to stay home with our children. This was something that I NEVER thought was possible financially, but God has been faithful and my husband has been provided many opportunities to continue to provide for our family (while giving my husband many opportunities to disciple and minister to his colleagues). We are at almost 1 year into this new journey and are waiting on God to lead us to the next step. Your video is a blessing and encouragement to me. It has been difficult for me to daily lay down my pride and not go back to my financially lucrative position. But I do not want to have to wander like the Israelites in the wilderness so I will daily humble myself and wait and teach my children the Word of God and pray for them to make a genuine declaration of faith in Jesus Christ. There are so many churches today that are more interested in increasing their numbers than true disciples. I am so happy that this was revealed to you. During my church ministries, I never asked for any payment for my services. I felt I was given the words to speak freely, and I gave them freely. Therefore, I always had a full time job, so best of luck with you new job. Keep up the good work of spreading the saving Gospel of Christ.
So many churches birth from the emotional experience and build on sand. Study Lutheran Pietism and you'll come to see much more clearly where a great deal of modern "American" style churches where birth from spreading out during the second great awakening. Experience became preeminent and personal testimony king. This thinking brings forth all types of error, movements and people who are self confirmed in their folly. Who's to say a LDS Mormon is wrong? Their personal experience and testimony is what bears witness to what is true. You see how, and I mean this with love, stupid this is?

You are 100 percent correct. You will reach more people outside the church wall. I'm in the workplace. I certainly have more impact now than ever. I go to church but participate more outside the church. We need to make sure we are about building up the Kingdom not the church programs and building. Blessings to you and may God walk with you.
Jon, “being the church” is far more challenging than “doing” church activities. Doing forces us to focus on competencies, being church invites our attention to character and compassion for “the least of these….”As your journey unfolds, May the sense of His authority to be His witness fill your heart with gladness.

Hey Jon, thanks for sharing your story! As someone who is a part of a smaller church of around 200 people, I feel a lot of the personal ministry and actual day-to-day Christian living is emphasized a lot more in these smaller bodies. Sermons at least at my church are expositionally preached from the Word in a way that isn’t afraid to scare people away and encourages the congregation to always grow in their faith. Not saying mega churches are bad at all but in my experience, I feel many of them focus their efforts on getting people in the door while often neglecting actual shepherding of the souls within their congregation. Size is never the true problem, but I feel a healthy church will always strive to take care of their members’ souls while also reaching out to the wider world over looking at what size and scale of events or congregations they can achieve. By God’s will growth in numbers will either come or it won’t, and both of those results will be for his kingdom.

I think that you just changed the platform but you are still a preacher. 😊 As you grow this YT channel, you will still be thinking of contents and programs. Maybe the only difference is that you now have a wider reach. And as you go to the marketplace and become more exposed, you will now have more relatable illustrations that display the power of God. I believe that this is now the new way of growing the Church. You didn’t leave your calling, you’re just brave enough to redefine it. 😄

Thank you. As a former elder of a small recently planted church we did well in the first three years. The people were on a spiritual high, hungry for the word of God. But sadly pride brought disconnect to the leaders. I was glad when Covid happened because it opened my eyes to see that we were no longer serving God but we’re trying to grow in numbers. As I stepped down as elder of the church the two pastors decided to close to church doors for good. I opened my home to fellowship for two years until everyone found a church to attend. I truly believe that it was God’s will that the church close down. My heart no longer desires to serve in the church but outside as you said. Thanks again for sharing your story. I do believe God is outside the church as well and God's word & presence needs to be everywhere & encouraged and shared throughout everywhere we travel daily.I see that most churches are promoting the mega church n personally feel God's congregations aren't being led in the right direction. My beloved friend Jon, I believe the Lord has begun to wake you up and let you see what He sees and feels what He feels. Let him be the Alpha and the Omega in everything you do. Jesus woke me up in 2013 and had me leave a mega church to finally find peace where 2 or three were gathered and there He was in the midst and here He is still with me in the simplicity of the gospel. I used to be active in church and its ministries for many years and, one day, I left the church because of too much church politics that ruined my spirit to worship God.

Thank you for this. In modern day Christianity the word “church” has been changed. “What is a church?” Or “what is the church” Many people think it’s a building but it’s not. The actual ekklesia is not a building. God dwelleth not in a temple made with hands. God is spirit and those who worship God must worship Him in Spirit and Truth.

Hi Jon, it was amazing to listen to your experience because I have felt that way for years myself. Several years ago I just couldn't go to church one more Sunday and be comfortable and listen to an awesome sermon and then go home. I needed more. I needed to live out my faith. So I went out to the world looking for ways to serve and love people. I was saved because someone who didn't know me showed me unconditional love, the way Jesus loves. I believe God wants us to go out there and show His love to the homeless on the streets , the sick people in the hospitals, the single parents who need help, widows who are lonely, the orphans needing love and a home. We need to get out there everyday not just on Sundays. After work help someone anyway you can, meet them in their need. I believe that is the message God is telling his people. Hi Jon. Greetings from small island Spore! Recently I was telling a Christian bro that I feel many Christian leaders have aspiration to do well, follow their spiritual dreams which may be to grow his church to a "mega" size church n this makes them feels good n if they recognise that they have become "famous, popular" n can command a high standing in the "industry" n so they will move on the next level which is to start a "company" which deals in ministry of conducting big scales Christian conferences, writing books, etc etc...n I wondered how many of these are really God's plan cos Im beginning to see them as man doing things after its own desires n aspiration. Yes people will say if God is not behind it, it will not be successful which I agree but I also think if that leader has hell of a lot of charisma, leadership n "pulling power" he will definitely going to produce results to a certain degree n impressive as well. I bet leaders in "successful" church will have a certain amount of pride being associated with it n also felt proud of their church. N Im very sure there are these "successful" churches who will look down on small churches as not ",successful" n sadly I have heard them say n question "why isnt the church growing?". So they equates size as God's being behind it or not behind it since its not a growing church. I was once with a church (about 5000 attendance) for 7 to 8 yrs. Serve in one of the ministry for about 4 yrs n I left after that. I felt shallow in that ministry where ppl just come to do their part n ppl are not close within the ministry itself. Its a very shallow relationship. I heard its the same in other ministry within this church. Some leaders i spoke to told me "big church is like that" but hey within my ministry there are only 12 of us. Many leaders only know u when they are on duty greeting ppl at the door, after that they dont know u. Ministry has become "work" n not relationship. These days I frown on church with big platform with concert like worship with beautiful lightings n for some, with hi tech cameras like some TV stations. These all look n sound impressive but shallow n hollow behind if my experience tells me. I could have continued playing my guitar on stage n enjoy the "lime light" n good feelings but Im looking for something beyond these shallow stuff. To me being a Christian is from Monday to Saturday on the ground, relating to the people I see in need on the streets. My ex pastor (who runs a home church reaching foreign workers) brought a small stool with a notice "prayer for free" hang behind him. He sat in the market n does that. In the eye of the world, it can look stupid n unglamorous but he's humble enough to stoop that low for God. Not many pastor today will do that. Such humble unglamorous pastor really encourage me. Thks
God's purpose and plan is for everyone. Pastors are still human being dealing with the flesh. God's know your heart. Back to basic, the Holy Spirit will guide us, not pastors. Fellowships with others require mutual understanding with communications, time efforts, caring. Mega churches works mostly on top down hierarchy, I don't like it as it reflects master slave orientation.
My friend, I will admit that for the longest time I wanted all of those things. To have big conferences. To be featured in events. To be a "famous pastor" (for the Lord of course), but the scripture tells Jesus will say "well done good and faithful servant", not "famous servant". (Matthew 25:23). Instead they are guided by the man on stage, the motivational (not spiritual)messages, the concert like music, the celebrity like musicians on stage, the lights, the smoke machines, the video images behind each songs. Had they been guided by the holy spirit they would have been able to recognise the "wolf in sheep outfit" charismatic leader such a Carl Lenzt who wants nothing but fame, association with celebrities (to further enhance his images n use it to draw more to himself), etc. I think even a non believer can see the tell tale sighs in him but sadly not these young hip Christians. I have a few times people telling me that alot of churches in Europe are dead. The services are attended by only the old folks. The service looks dead bcos there's no dynamic music n speakers to draw in the young people n if these churches dont keep up with the latest trend, they will all die out. But now I see it differently, I dont see these old fashion churches with their old folks still stuck in their old hymns, as dead churches. I see them as alive. Alive not because of some dynamic speaker and music. Alive bcos they have a personal relationship with Jesus n have journey thru the highs n lows with God. Their faith is rock solid beneath that "dead looking church exterior". These folks are the ones who will share with you their personal journey with the Lord while the young folks from Hillsongs churches will share with u their jouney in relation to the big music, the fantastic lively church with concert like worship, the handsome cool pastor like Carl n he even have frens like Justin Bieber. This is what their journey is like which Jesus called "houses built on sand".

Wow Pastor! I am amazed to see your video! My husband and I were in a season where we are transitioning. He used to be a full time admin/worship leader at a church. We do worship Mondays, Wed, Friday and Sundays but then I started asking my husband and questioning myself, where are the non believers coz now we are just surrounded by christians. I mean there is nothing wrong with that but I remember what my Pastor said” if you’ve been seeing the same faces in your fellowship for a month or two then something is not right” Im asking my self how many non believers was I able to bring to church coz as our schedule has been full lately. 😟 then my husband and i kept on hearing from God and we both heard Him said “GO OUT and don’t stay inside the church” so now thats where we are headed I believe. God lead us attend an Alpha class and it ended today! I think we haven’t started yet but Im amazed how God has been speaking to us, that we should bring the worship outside that we should be like the disciples who is always outside sharing the gospel spending time with non believers to help them know Jesus. Hi my fellow Brethren in Christ. I too was visited by Jesus Christ , who told me to go into The Hedges and highways and compel men to come into The Kingdom . I was what you would call a pew baby, and 3rd generational Apostolic, Pentecostal. But one day The LORD showed me that He NEVER told us to build building and wall ourselves in from the the peoples of the world. BUT He told us to go into the world and preach The Gospel to every creature. He Told us in the Scriptures that He does NOT dwell in temples made by hands but that our bodies are The Temple of The Holy Ghost. I and my family have left the building for 7 years now. And we are helping the homeless both natural and spiritually, we are spreading The Gospel and The Plan of salvation according to Acts2:38. Now we have come to realize that we MUST live Holy EVERYDAY. The building taught us the mentality of having a mindset of a Christian on church days. We have our specific church clothes and church shoes and church hats and church personification, but when we leave that building we change our outfits and put on a different mindset, and we go to work or school or entertainment etc. and church is in the background now, awaiting its turn on Sunday and or a couple other days a week. Oh I weep , because so many years I’ve wasted with that mentality. We MUST be Christian EVERYDAY. 😢 We have a home fellowship now and The Spirit of The LORD is working miracles in our lives. Please don’t try to defend the building called church. It’s NOT Biblical really it’s not.🥺 I know you don’t want to offend anybody. But when GOD says something is wrong, it’s wrong. And if we really care about the ones who are still under the entrapment of these buildings, then we will lovingly warn them as well. Remember a buddy will tell you what you want to hear but a friend will tell you what you need to know. It was the plan of satan to get us so busy in the business of in church business that we miss the point of who we are, and what we are really supposed to be doing. We have been running so many programs in the building that we programmed GOD right out of The Building. Remember the rebuke He Gave the Laodicean church in the 3rd chapter of Revelation. And Jon Remember the way to hell is broad and the gate is wide and many there be that enter therein. But The Way to LIFE is narrow and the gate is strait ( not straight) but strait. And that word means strict. I truly enjoyed this testimony and I am praying for everyone to continuance in Christ Jesus. And I Pray that you all have done according to Acts 2:38 because this will make you Rapture Ready, my friends.

I am a retired pastor. Our job is to look after the sheep, if one has a pastoral calling. Fit in where your Calling can be fully utilized by the Lord. Obey God, do it well, and it should not matter what title you are called. We are answerable to God alone. Just humbly serve him. Big ways, small ways, any way as long as it is God's way.

I have wanted to go on the road and reaching out as I go. He is prepping me and I believe He will provide and protect if this is what He wants me to do. I am a 65 year old widow and I surrender everything back to Him for all He has done and continues to do in my life.

I’m a pastor’s kid and grew up in the church. Our churches have always been small so I’ve been helping out in various ministries (as a pastor’s kid does) since I was 7. When I was in my 20s, I got burnt out and decided that it was time to step back. During that time, I attended a bunch of larger churches where I felt I could just worship, listen to the word and then leave. But after a while my spirit felt parched for something more. I feel like big churches are great for bringing people in but small churches are where you go to grow. There is something about the intimacy and a feeling of truly being a family in a small church. There are fewer hands, less funds and it becomes more about stepping up to fulfill a role in the body versus it being paying gig. Everyone is there because they want to be there. The church culture now is so focused on aesthetics and being current to bring in people - so much so that the Word is warped to fit the mold of the world.
Very well said. I agree with you 100 %. I actually got turned off completely by the evangelical church when I was baptized with my 3 teenage children and the pastor wanted me to change my testimony. It didn't fit with his idea of being saved I guess. I found smaller churches for the most part had pastors that were much more accessible and preaching because they were called to, not for the paycheck and title.

Man, I really resonate in heart to your story! I’m a PK in a small church and recently I’ve been teetering on burnout and considering venturing towards a larger community where I could rest in more. After reading your story, I’m reflecting on the value of the small church, but I’m still grieved at the ambition of wanting to grow where I find myself and others quick to overlook who’s in attendance and often mention who’s not while hoping so much to fill empty seats. I’m really hungry for pure discipleship, content and godly relationship, and the humility of the Jesus-exampled ministry. Even now, I’m wresting with this internal conflict of wanting to simplify even more and commit to serving in life in and out of the church walls (like influencing kingdom at my workplace in the grocery store, school, friendships, and home) while still honoring the good of regular gathering and assembly.

Hi Jon, great video. I have also left a mega church after leading worship there for a few years. After I read the Bible in full for myself, I realized the great divide between the Word of God and this “mega church modern day Christian” movement. I am now apart of a house church with 10 other people. We literally meet in a basement with our bibles and a guitar. It was has been life changing and the Lord has moved in supernatural ways. He has increased our zeal, our boldness, our humility, our wisdom and our love for one another and our desire to serve our city. You’re on the right track and you’re not alone! 👍🏼
Your are right about your decisions brother some of these mega churches they are not in the "Look for lost souls and rescues them and help them walk with Christ Daily" they've Lost that Kind of Love for other's they are more on the new member's....so more members more tithes and offering....

I call mega churches franchise restaurants....once they go franchise the quality lessens. It's been a long time since I actually felt anything being sardine packed in a mega church. Mostly annoyance and wanting to just leave.

This is my journey too. I was a young adult when God called me out of my church. And it was the most difficult and agonising decision bcoz I was so active in church. I was a youth leader. He "demoted" me to a humble and small house of prayer. And little did I know that was the most glorious part of my journey. I fell in love with Jesus so hard from this small prayer community. My years in this small group taught me that Christianity is not just about faithfully going to church, reading the bible, having a ministry. They taught me to walk and enjoy Jesus on a daily basis. I found Jesus in the secret place. They gave me the greatest revelation in my life: intimacy with Him. Now I enjoy being with Jesus even when I'm just washing dishes. I may not have a ministry now to call my own nor a title but I really really love talking to Jesus when I'm just doing mundane things. I feel like I know Him more now than when I was in church. I just love Him too much now 😭 and I am learning to love people too around me because if this relationship.

Nothing irritated me MORE than pastors in the midst of Covid being SILENT. A few DARED to have Church, in homes, and healings, signs and wonders flowed. That is CHURCH, standing up to darkness and saying NOT ON MY WATCH!!!

After some days all the family members of the pastor were infected with Covid but God kept them alive.

I served the role of a chaplain, and started a custom painting shop to pay the bills, while reaching men whom the church considered unreachable. It was not easy, but if God leads you to it, He'll lead you thru it. I will be praying for you. And you are right - the mission field is OUTside the church walls. The purpose of church, in my opinion, is to train and prepare people to go OUTside and reflect Jesus to the world. God Bless!

Yes, to obey is better than sacrifice.
Obeying the Holy Spirit is always the top priority. But people don’t have to leave their church in order to evangelize in the street, or in the prisons, or in the neighborhoods. They can stop participating in the things that God is not calling them to do. And they can do the thing they’re supposed to do. so, maybe on whatever day your church meets, you go and participate in the piece of it that has your core group of believers that you can be praying for, and they can be praying for you and for the people you minister to. That might be on a Sunday, Saturday, a small group meeting during the week, and just skip the mega part of it. and there may be days when you intend to gather with other believers somewhere, and God directs you in a completely different direction for some divine appointment he has set up. And that might just be for one day, for that specific moment. I don’t think there’s an “all or nothing“ direction for the Holy Spirit because he works through all sorts of people in all sorts of places.
This is an amazing testimony. While, I don’t believe in coincidences I’ve been sensing the same thing for the past two years that God is moving us back to the basics and eliminating distractions. When I first saw the title I was almost afraid to listen but so glad that I did because I am now encouraged to take the next steps and the journey I know but the first step of faith
This has been my experience as well. I believe God is saying this to many people all over the world.

Hello Jon. Thank you for sharing your experience in the ministry of church especially for the youth group. I concur and agree with your points and I, too, have been involved in the youth ministry in the education department of church for the last four decades. I recently stepped down from all my duties from the positions that I held. Over the years, I have noticed that the worship especially the praises have gotten more and more like the secular concerts that I used to go when I was a teenager and in my college time. Like you had mentioned the lights were always dimmed resembling any night clubs. Many times, they were so focused on events and activities and getting emotional during service and they call it the activity of Holy Spirit. Yes, that’s why they are called programs. For so many years, many youths have been programmed into thinking that that’s the only way to serve God. This led me to many regrets and resentments. This certainly is not the way the people in the old and new testaments worshipped God. I think we have lost sight of having relationship with God and rather we’ve been so busy and caught up with doing things thinking that we were doing them in the lead of the Holy Spirit. We need to get back to the grind and the Scriptures and find out truly what pleases God; not us. Shalom.

That’s wonderful but church is about fellowship, using gifts to help other Christians and discipleship of the body of Christ. Outreach to the community is a ministry.

Nowadays, the Evangelical church has meltdowns at the thought of their taxes going to the poor and needy, but wants the government to oppress the LGBTQ community and other groups they hate. The evangelical church is the body of Pharisees, not the body of Christ. The musical entertainment is the only thing that makes it attractive to people, without their cool hipster bands it would die a death.

I appreciate your message I dont know how I found your video, but I needed to hear this. I have been feeling this way for several years and struggled with the guilt of my feelings. I was so busy focusing on the show in the church my life and my kids were being neglected spiritually. Since then I've had a huge process of rejection and looking like a fool for God but I know I'm smack dab in the middle of HIS Will now.

Just as "in the beginning," God has always been into relationships. Once you have a relationship with God, it will not be "I believe," it will be I know. I have felt the love of God on 2 occasions. Wept both times.He told me things that kept me out of trouble several times. I could go on and on!
We don't have a personal relationship with God. As powerful as God is, there is no way for any being to have a personal relationship with millions of people at the same time. We love God by our relationships with other people. The only people who had a personal relationship with Christ was his disciples. You would serve God better helping in a soup kitchen rather than sharing your beliefs. Christians have been indoctrinated by the evangelical Church. God doesn't care if you don't "witness" to others. God cares that you obey the greatest commandment. To love God and love others. And it is one and the same thing, loving others is loving God. We don't need to rescue people from a place of eternal torment invented by the Church powers to control people. That is a message of fear and that doesn't come from Christ.

Hi Jon, I think what you have shared is truly anointed. My husband and I attend a very small church and there have been times when it's been discouraging when we don't see it grow. However, for some reason God has used us despite our size. I think our Pastor has very similar thoughts as you do and he encourages all in the church to go out and be the church! Not just expect others to come to us. The Lord has given you a very powerful message and I hope that it will encourage and equip those that view it.

Wow this was right on time. Judging from the comments, a lot of folks are feeling the same way. I left church right before covid and tried to start a small house ministry. It worked for awhile but fell apart after a year or so; it’s hard to get that church mentality out of people. “Be the church” sounds so tired and cliche, but it’s the absolute truth! I’m devoting myself to really trying to do just that. It’s pretty lonely because the sad fact is a lot of Christians just don’t want to do that. They’re ok with just “doing church”.
I’m sure the current way we do church still has a purpose for some, but I truly believe God is calling some people out of the four walls and preparing them for something new.
I have also been called out, and this message is what I received from God as I went to Malawi, Africa, to share the good news of the kingdom of God. So many there are living only a religious Christianity, but not living as Christ's disciples. I saw god do many mighty miracles and healings through us as we went in obedience to his word,, "laying hands upon the sick that they will be healed, casting out demons, and seeing very little food we Hardee's many with leftover's. It is great to get outside the four walls. God bless.

Yes and Amen! Been in the institution for a few decades and God woke me up 2 years ago, started a house church, which gave me a revelation for the church. We started a ministry www.everyjointsupplies.org which the Lord put on our heart to equip, grow and build the church like Ephesians teaches us. Thankful God has given you a vision as well!

The local church and the Universal Worldwide Church/Bride of Christ, down through the Ages, has a primary purpose of equipping the saints: through His Word of Truth by His Spirit of TRUTH; and by Worshipping God together in Spirit and in Truth; and in Him ALONE, enjoying and being girded up, as iron sharpening iron, with mutually edifying Fellowship. All This, that the Church would be the Church for Reals-- representing Christ, as they "exit the doors to be the Church to their town", just as John Piper suggests. I.e., Living His Love and Forgiveness in action, by the empowering of the Holy Spirit, through each child of God's every day life.

You aren't the church, or even a genuine Christian. Genuine Christians were first century Jews and non-Jewish descendants of the tribes of the northern kingdom of Israel who were dispersed among the nations, people who were dead under the law and its curse, had transitioned out of the old covenant and were restored to eternal life (a restored covenant relationship with their god) via Christ’s new covenant.
They were descendants of the twelve tribes of Israel who were being gathered into Christ before the end of the age of the old covenant religious system and temple community. That in a nutshell is what the entire New Testament is about.
They were people from the houses of Judah and Israel who believed in Jesus. They had once been under the law and its curse, were the recipients of the covenants (Rom 9:3-4) and of Christ’s new covenant (Rom 11:26-27, Heb 8:8) before the end of the age, which was in AD70.
They were both uncircumcised and circumcised Israelites who had been called in the generation read about in the New Testament. Whether they were circumcised Jews or uncircumcised Israelites (referred to as Gentiles in numerous scriptures), they were told to remain in the same condition they were called (1 Corinthians 7:18-20) because the time of the end of the age of the old covenant religious system and temple community was near.
There was no such thing as a non-Israelite Christian. There were only circumcised and uncircumcised Israelite Christians in the New Testament period, some of them referred to as ‘gentiles’ because they had stopped being Torah observant and had stopped practicing circumcision.
After the need for the gospel ended in AD70, Greek so-called ‘church fathers’ hijacked bits and pieces of ancient Israel’s redemptive narrative and adapted it to their Greek culture. Theirs was just one of many competing faux versions of what would later become an institutionalized, non-Israelite faux Christian cult that excluded Jews from its version of salvation. People today who believe they’re Christians are sincere but highly indoctrinated to believe they are someone they are not, that they’re heading for a judgement that is purely imaginary and need a salvation and redemption that only old covenant Israelites needed.

Salvation for the disciples meant [Jews] being rescued from sin (violation of the law), the curse of the law (which only Israelites had and were under), their enemies, their perverse generation and the wrath of God. Nobody today is under ancient Israel’s law so nobody today sins. The god of the bible hasn’t saved any modern day so-called ‘Christian’ from their enemies and the ‘wrath of God’ was the end of the age judgment on the twelve tribes of Israel in AD70. There is nothing left for anyone to be saved from today.
Matt 1:21 says Jesus came to save his people, which according to Mat 2:6, was Israel. Mat 15:24 says Jesus was sent ONLY for the lost sheep of the house of Israel. That’s not us. 1 Chron 17:21 says that God sought to redeem one nation (Israel), not everyone. Heb 9:15 says that redemption was for sin done under the first covenant. That means Jesus died for Israel, not us. Galatians 4:5 says Jesus came to redeem those under the law. That’s first century Jews and Israelites still under the law’s curse…not us. Paul’s mission was to the ethnos (nations) to call out the descendants of the tribes of Israel who had been dispersed among the nations, called gentiles because they had stopped being Torah observant and had stopped practicing circumcision. That’s not us. Jesus only warned Israelites of the judgement and hell (Gehenna), and only Israelites are seen in the Revelation as being saved, sealed and redeemed. From beginning to end, the bible is Israel’s redemptive narrative, not ours. People have simply tried to make it their redemptive narrative by reading themselves into the story.
The entire bible’s redemptive narrative pertains only to those who were under the law or its curse, which was all old covenant Israel, not all humanity. Their story ended in AD70. We are not broken, not guilty and not sinners. We don’t need Jesus to forgive us of anything. There is no hell for anyone today. There is no judgement for anyone today. There is no need for salvation today. We were never part of the bible story.
Post- AD70 so-called Christians have been duped by a misappropriated redemptive narrative that appeared soon after AD70. Its been a circus of error ever since.

No, that is absolutely ludicrous. The early Church Fathers were handed down the gospel from the Apostles, there was no racism or "cutting out" or exclusion of anyone from the message of Christ's redemptive work on the cross. This is a lie you are peddling and the idea that the early Christian Church of the 1st century comprised ONLY of Jews is not consistent with the bible, or the apostolic teachings of the early Church.
@@dman7668 If you read the letters from Clement, Irenaeus, Ignatius and Polycarp, you may notice that they sound like ancient versions of fundamentalists. They literally blather on without comprehending what they’re talking about....pulling scriptures out of their proper context....oblivious to the events or significance of the events leading up to and including AD70. They’re a mess. Many Christians today actually believe those fellows are the go-to guys for figuring out what we should believe today.
Polycarp and others who followed him were not the elect. They had no link to Old Covenant Israel, and by the time they penned their epistles, the emphasis on Israel’s salvation and redemption had already been misappropriated by people [like them] who were far from a Hebrew interpretive paradigm. In fact, they were hostile to Jews and sought to exclude them from their post-AD70 so-called gospel.
They were responsible for the resurrection of bits and pieces of Israel’s redemptive narrative, the misappropriation of scriptures that had already been fulfilled, a totally different gospel than the pre-AD70 gospel, a widened scope of salvation meant for people not under the law...people who didn’t really need salvation. They introduced the Greek concept of hell being an otherworldly place of eternal torment for all who don’t believe as they did...when before it was understood to be a metaphor for judgement only for Israelites. They also introduced yet another return of Jesus in judgement.
They were the preeminent faux Christians creating a new version of Christianity that had no power, no relevance and in reality, no god. They were master pretenders, the first Christian fundamentalist fanatics, and responsible for what led to today’s faux Christianity.
I’ve been doing this as a single mom for the last 30 years. I raised my kids up in athletics and in 2006 all three sons received football scholarships. But it was on the football fields, in high-school classrooms, in team dinner settings, and of course on the foot-ball field, I was and still am a Minister In The Marketplace. This is the new testament church in the book of Acts. Yes. “This little light of mine… I’m gonna let it shine.” God is good!

As a pastor myself, I went through a very similar journey. God called me to lead a church and began showing me that the way were set up, we were not effective in making disciples. A lot of the same things you shared are what God showed me, and since then, we have focused solely on how do we make disciples and empower the priesthood of all believers. COVID helped to change my mindset also. Thanks for sharing your story because sometimes I feel like I’m crazy because not many others have the courage to make the shift they can clearly articulate needs to happen. Thanks for your courage!
You got me crying. Thank you for sharing. I am "newbie" follower of Jesus, and I had been to a handful of churches during my first year as a Christian, and they just did not feel right for me. I felt like I was back in highschool trying so hard to fit in with each church's individual culture, to be accepted and liked. It distracted me from God. I was craving a genuine connection with God and His people. I hear Christians say " it is not about your feelings," and I get that point, however, with ALOT of time alone with God for these past few months due to a rare illness that has made me unable to be around others or really leave my apartment, I have had the opportunity to really study God's word and know God. At first I thought I would loose my faith by not being able to attend church and by being all alone. And yes, I definitely battled some severe depression from isolation. God has also taught me how being His disciple is every day, every hour, every second. God has totally emptied me out. I even lost all my possesions, even my child (long story). I plan on getting my child back when the time is right. God has rebuilt me layer-by-layer. I am a completely changed person. I have had to trust God completely as I have no income due to the illness, and I don't have family helping me. Somehow I am still fed, clothed, sheltered. I have suffered tremenously, but God is really using this illness for good. I am slowly learning how to share my story without complaining and victimization. Every day is a new lesson from God. When God heals me fom this illness, in His perfect timing, I am excited to share what I have learned with my son and with other people I encounter in my daily life.

That’s exactly what I felt seven years ago. Too much noise, too much music, too much activities, too much marketing, too much church strategies, too much busyness… I suffocated. I couldn’t bear it anymore. I decided to step out, just like you said. I prayed to God and I’m still praying for Him to make me holy. I prayed for true holiness and humility, quietness of spirit and true trust in Him. I feel so delivered and free now. True worship is in spirit. A spirit of submission and surrender. So true…suffocating is the right word there. We relocated to a country where there are no big churches and for the first time my conviction was not about how many services and events I attended, but whether or not I showed Kingdom Love to those at work who does not know Him, nor know about Him, and couldn’t even speak my language. Do they know that there must be something or someone out there that wants to include them and accept them in Love? Now that has become my conviction. All praise to Him.

I can totally relate to this. Sometimes in church, we become performers and I don't wanna invalidate people who come for pure worship but being inside the 4 corners of the church building traps you in the knick-knacks of the ministry. We often forget who we are first which is sons and daughters of God.

I relate to this and your comment. I was in the worship team at my old church and stepped down because, I felt like I was performing every time I sang and played an instrument. I’m not saying that everyone on the team was doing the same, but I longed for true worship.
I ended up leaving that congregation, nothing against them at all, I still love them and talk to them from time to time. However, God called me out of there to yearn more of him and to learn more about his word. I prayed for a new congregation to join and this church I was following closely planted a church closer to where I live. Literally an answered prayer!
Long story short, I am now in this new congregation and my faith is stronger than ever!

I appreciate you sharing this. I've been preaching for 22 years and I pastored a church for 10. I felt lead to step down in early 2020. It was a difficult step of faith, and most people around me don't understand. But God has been faithful. I still preach and God has been expanding my territory through social media. God bless.
You should be honest with yourself and speak truth, you were not led by God to be a pastor to begin with, you were just a hireling. Many churches do not have true shepherd's who are called by God to feed His sheep. Majority of the churches in today's world have hirelings for shepherd's. God doesn't make mistakes. Any so called pastor who claimed God called him to be a pastor and after whatever years later he claims that God is leading him to stop being a pastor is a liar. They should speak the truth, confess that they were really never called to be pastors, and for that reason are stepping down, not speaking lies by saying, God is leading me in the different direction bluh, bluh, bluh, lies. God doesn't make mistakes. When God calls a a man to be a shepherd of His sheep, that man will continue to be a pastor until he is no longer able to do it, because of His old age, health, or death. If God had called you to be pastors, you would still be pastors. So stop sinning against God by making Him look like He doesn't know what He is doing. Don't be proud, be humble, repent, don't blame God. Anyone who says God called them to be a pastor, and later God led them out from being a pastor are liars. God is a God of truth. Women cant speak in church. Dont ask people for 10% of their money. This disqualifies almost 100% of churches today. Anyway. If someone believes Jesus died and rose again God forgives their sins. Thats the gospel. Because bibles are everywhere today a church like in the NT might not be needed anymore. Bibles back then had to be hand copied so only churches could afford one so someone had to travel to a place where there wasa bible just to hear it. So yeh there are a lot of wolves in sheeps clothing.
Brother, thanks so much for sharing - It's no accident that the youtube algorithm recommended this, as I'm wrestling with many of the same things right now. I've been in ministry for 7 years now, 3 years part-time, 4 years full-time. I'm recently on medical leave after being diagnosed with burnout and severe depression. I lead a worship ministry, and I've been so caught up with how many worship nights I put up, how many people attend, how many recordings we put out, and so on and so forth. It's gotten to the point where I started believing that God's love is dependent on how well I do these things. The Lord is reminding me that He loves me, not because of how much I can accomplish with my ministry, but simply because I'm His child. That I belong to Him. There's nothing that I can do that can separate me from His love through Christ. I don't know what lies ahead, but I'm sure of one thing: His love remains the same in every season.
I'm not sure what to do next after this medical leave, but I know wherever He calls me next, that is the best place to be, whether in full-time ministry or not. May our Lord Jesus Christ be glorified and lifted up in every way. Thanks so much again for sharing your heart brother, God bless!

It’s so difficult to keep our eyes on God and NOT on man. Satan is very active in ministries that are reaching souls for Christ. If we are emotional, sometimes we question WHY WE FEEL COLD, which NEVER COMES FROM CHRIST. PERHAPS God wants you in a completely different field, pretty sure he didn’t want you to be so depressed you had to take medical leave. FYI, As a preachers kid, brothers all in the mission field and another pastor. I pray you’ll get clarity from Abba, our Heavenly Father.
Brother, im very sorry to read that you got depressed, i dont know how , but i can tell you that when i was passing trough anxiety, and overwhelmed by a sickness i got , i went to the room, i prayed sincerely to God, with all i had, and he rescued me from taking pills, now im better Doug im still sick, but my soul is better 🙏 because i poured myself to Him in trust.
Go back to the basics, start over, who is Jesus, who is God? It’s not about the fun churches, loud music , dancing lights nor about preachers that teach a God who listens to what we want. I know that is why many of us give up that kind of belief is not enough.

My wife grew up in a Christian home. Herself and family have always served and heavily involved in church. Even she talks about this. I grew up in communism Hungary. I was an atheist until 2017. My first discussion about God was with a guy I met in university in Australia. He was a Christian. We would debate (friendly) and we would agree to disagree. This guy planted that seed many many years ago. You can say, his church was teaching them discipleship because here he was talking to an atheist about God. I respected him from day one because he didn't argue but listened to my views too. Fast forward, we are still close friends (both in our late 40s) and I attend his church now (not a mega church). That's what I think the church needs to do. Equip their young people on truth and be bold to speak especially with what's going on in universities nowadays, kids are getting indoctrinated and they get swayed easily with ideology of communism but disguised as socialism etc. To think about it I could have been one of those uni kids and left alone but fortunately there was a kid there too who stood his ground and God's truth and didn't shy from sharing it.

This has been my experience in the 2 years of covid. I was a volunteer church leader, involved in almost too many activities. When everything shut down, I entered into the secret place for the first time - just me and God. That’s where I learned that I was a servant, not a son. That God could rightly say p “depart from me, I never knew you.” Instead my Father brought me close, showed me things that I could only get by being in close proximity to him. He is not impressed with what I can do for Him - He wants a relationship with me. What a revelation. The world is opening back up and while I have visited the church, I have changed. No more “performance” Christianity. Not not sure what’s next but I do know I am a beloved son in whom my Father is well pleased. ♥️♥️♥️

When I was praying this morning the Holy Spirit revealed this to m the more we come closer to God the more He come closer to us you can be in the church and find out that you are far away from Him that's why He mentioned that in the bible others they only worship me with their lips whereas their minds are far away. The closer you come to Him the more you receive love peace, joy, knowledge, understanding etc. You learn to understand His word and live by it and become obedient to it.Thank you brother thank you for sharing your journey with the Lord Jesus.

I am so proud of you Jon. You know the true meaning of being God’s disciple. I’m 73 and grew up in the Methodist Church. After college sadly I drifted from going to church every Sunday. Later in life, after marring a Catholic, I missed church and decided to start back by going to a Sunday night service at a tiny Baptist church. I went almost every Sunday and Wednesday. Then, after almost a year, my husband asked if he could go with me. Praise The Lord! 🙏🏻
Not long after we started going to church there, he gave his life to Christ and was never the same. Everything in his life seemed brighter and he loved the fellowship, the pastor and the people. He became a deacon and served the parishioners and the church until he died of Pancreatic cancer four years ago. If there’s one thing that I could tell you about him, it would be that he love the Lord. I live in a small college town where over the years one of the reasons I had decided to no longer go to church was because it had changed. Just like you said. The church was always struggling to add bigger and better things to attract h the youth. Even though, at the time I was younger, I did not like the music or the waving of hands in the air and the strobe lights. I craved the peace of a sanctuary where you honor God and you sing true hymns of worship tell stories of Jesus and his love. When I found the little Baptist church it had all those things and more. I no longer go because ever they have turned to the same tactics as the other larger churches.
All we need is Jesus and his word. Read the Bible, find the joy in his word and go out and share it like we used to. I know what you didn’t was unbelievably difficult, but I know you have found the place that God called you to be many years ago. I know you are happy doing God’s work, not the churches. If I had to sacrifice my complete happiness to see that he was saved, than it was worth every one of the 38 years we were married. He was a good man in every way, a very good man. We had no children, so that was not an issue. After reading your reply, it occurred to me that maybe that was my purpose in this life, to bring him to salvation. And for that one reason alone, I will always be thankful I married a catholic.

I left from Pastoring for 13 years in December 2021, after hearing the Holy Spirit tell me it was time for me to leave. I too was overwhelmed by the programs, numbers, and events, but I loved Pastoring. However,I love Jesus and I want to walk in obedience. I love your spirit. I feel the same way. I moved from large churches to small churches as a part-time pastor with a fulltime secular job many years ago (in technology, it turns out) where He made work a ministry for me. Then social media. God even blessed me to start a RUclips channel 3 weeks ago (just like you did!) focused on reaching non-believers and helping to make peace between disagreeing factions in Christianity, and to make them disciples instead of denomination members. It's a new step and I pray the Lord will touch and bless you to make disciples for Christ.

Ive been struggling for the past 3 years with church life and where do i actually belong or fit in. I was just about to log on to my church service and listen to it when your video caught my eye. I am where you are right now and that has been my struggle. The Lord came to me when i was 10 years old and gave me a new heart and will to live for Him. He sent me to a church to be a blessing and thats all i have ever wanted to be, to show Gods love to those who don’t know Him and to be a blessing to anyone that surrounds me. I totally agree with you about us being the church!!! God can use us anywhere, any place. When the time was right, I left the church i had been in and God took me on an adventure. I had to trust God completely and He took me to places where i could only dream of going. But God used me for His purposes and i continue to trust in this amazing and awesome God. Your video is inspiring me to pray and ask God…….where next? We are all walking with the Lord…….Let Him lead us to where He can use us to be a blessing in the world, with people who are struggling everyday to find hope and peace in a world gone a bit crazy. HI! Thank you for this video. I used to be a church attendee since young and I totally agree with what you said. Today's "church" is nothing more than an entertainment hub. They used entertainment to attract "church" goers and they have to use entertainment to keep them. Sin, hell, and repentance is not preached because it's not popular and does not produce "numbers". Thanks to covid-19, I actually start spending all my time reading through the entire Bible and studying the word of God. To my surprise, there were a lot of verses being twisted to fit into the message the preacher have in mind. Everyone speaking gibberish instead of tongues, psychosomatic healing taking place instead of real healings, the famous people being flocked after services instead of the needy, poor and weak brothers and sisters. I thank God that my eyes are opened to the truth and I am happy for you too! I will be praying for you that your light will shine whenever you are because it is written, You are the light of the world, a city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.

The gift of tongues is truly a gift of the Holy Spirit. I agree that many churches have become entertainment centers.
You may want to do deeper diving into Hebrews 10:25. Everyone uses the scripture in regards to attending church but there’s debate about that being so. Similar usage of such words referred to gathering to Christ and not necessarily a church.
One day, God said to me "My Church is out there", and this morning I asked Him, what He meant by that and so Jonathan, thank you for being transparent in your video. I actually thank God for the lock downs for it had given me quality time thirsting and hungering for more of Him.
Thanks for the confirmation brother! I said to the Holy Spirit this morning that I didn't feel that passion or calling for vocational ministry, but I still wanted to serve him and win souls for him. He then showed me that he is lifting a remnant that will be serving him in the workplace sector.

finally a former pastor verbalized what I am going through right now watching my big church focusing on the externals, how to grow in numbers rather than looking inwardly reflecting if that is God's mandate for us Christians. And true, this pandemic is a blessing for me, a breather to look at these hustle and bustle going on in the church from a distance and see it at a bigger vantage point if God is really pleased with what we are pursuing. Yes ! Church corporations and repetitious religion have produced prosperous, but shallow, self-centered congregations who are so busy impressing each other they wouldn't recognize Jesus even if He walked down the center aisle of the sanctuary. Pastors speak things that tickle the ears and are very cautious not to say anything to upset those who contribute the most to the church's funds. The prosperity doctrine is still alive and well. We all need a wake-up call like the former pastor and develop a closer relationship with Jesus, listening for the voice or urging of the Holy Spirit, then step forward to do the actual Will of God in our lives. I was born in church (literally my mom gave birth to me at the back of the church in Nigeria). But I rememer back in 2016 when I walked away from the MEGA church and my parents thought I was backsliding; however, I felt the Holy Spirit leading me to take that move! I left and have downscaled the church i go to after and honestly have felt a move more and more, it has been life changing and life giving!! Thanks for sharing this!!
I watched this video yesterday, then in the morning my wife asked if I'm going to church, and I said yes! I've been involved in church since 10 years old in 1982. My mom moved alot, so I experienced going to small churches in the village and large ones in the city. Church for me is where God's people are at. God's people who could easily be caught up somewhere else like the prodigal. Church kept me busy with kingdom assignments and and ofcos, duties and systems that keep the "organization" active.
The church is the bride of Christ, the vehicle in this journey is the local congregation - Leaders and leadership may focus much on doctrines that seek to keep us attending and in line, but God is faithful to speak to each and every one of us individually despite the pastor not leading according to hearing from God, and burning out from being busy. It is God who builds His church. No one comes to the Father unless drawn by the Spirit of God.
I took 3 months off from the worship team, and did a prophetic course. In that time I attended church twice. I really needed the break. Today, 4th July, I felt at home in church. So good to see everyone again, and be part of a bigger family.
Yes ministry is everywhere we go, and this is what you leaders should be teaching without assuming that the mega church must be shut down or is irrelevant. God knows every flock member and He uses them wherever they go. The pastor just doesn't know it because he's too busy using his gifts and talents in the church and DOESN'T TAKE A BREAK OR CONNECT WITH THE PEOPLE HE'S TRYING TO KEEP.
So don't run away when a light bulb moment arrives, and bash yourself for working hard. Moses focused on God and led the people. He cared that they reach the promised land, and knew that only God could get them there. Despite Moses's best efforts, or short comings, God took His people across the Jordan.
Let every church, small, large to mega, be filled with saints and sinners trying to make their way home.

Jon, So glad you made this video. For years I have witnessed in my work places as a nurse. I have been reprimanded several times, got fired once, but always continued to go forward. I am working in a very difficult hospital now, but the Lord has provided fellow Christians to work beside me. We work with the homeless, with alcohol and drug problems, lots of psychosis and suicidal issues. God has provided funds for large print New Testaments in today’s language so people with mental illnesses that are highly distracted can relate to and begin to feel love and acceptance from the Lord. Jon, keep encouraging “normal” people to witness and share the love of Jesus at home, in their neighborhoods, and in their workplaces. We all have a mission to accomplish.

Hello Jon, and thank you dear brother for this amazing video and the message you have provided. I have been living in the United Kingdom for 27 years. I am a retired US Army veteran and my wife is a UK citizen. For more than 18 years we both served as leaders in a church here in the UK until the Lord called us (in a vision I received) as apostles and to run an apostolic ministry. At first we tried to basically imitate what we learn from the pastoral ministry (events, programs, etc.), but something didn't feel right as we were simply repeating doing "Church". And then, much to our relief, COVID hit and we were forced to close our church. We have chosen not returned to a church building, but instead we have been holding weekly online services, healing and deliverance ministries online and face to face, as well as often meeting in home groups to equip the body of Christ. My wife and I also have full time jobs and have never depended on a salary from the ministry. So, thank you again for your wonderful testimony, and we pray that the Lord continues to bless you in all you do! Blessings & Shalom!!

Welcome to this lonely yet fulfilling journey. It’s all about “in Christ”, remaining in Him, in His will and stopping ourselves from living in my own will. It’s the true beginning of pruning for the fruit in Christ. Hardest thing for me in this journey is to stop acting on my impulse and decisions and WAIT to understand His will and WAIT to confirm the will I thought was His. U will receive more and more revelation from Him yet more and more alone because the revelation will take us away farther and farther from this world and more and more to our true home and deep longing for His soon return. It’s lonely because my entire focus of this earthly live is on my Lord and His kingdom. There are no one around to share and walk this journey but me and my Lord. It’s fulfilling because He is enough. My personality and characters undergo so much change with His leading, extremely fulfilling to truely know more about the deepest parts of myself and His revelation. I hope u r also on this journey!

The apostle Paul is not my teacher or pastor. Jesus Christ is my teacher and pastor. Paul planted and Apollo's watered, but God gave the increase [1 Corinthians 3:6-8] so then neither is he that planted anything, neither he that watered; but God that give it the increase.

Yes! This video was also recommended to me. I'm excited and interested to learn from your new path. Everything you have said has been heavy on my husband and myself. The Holy Spirit pressed upon me to leave my full time career (which paid all our bills) to stay home with our children. This was something that I NEVER thought was possible financially, but God has been faithful and my husband has been provided many opportunities to continue to provide for our family (while giving my husband many opportunities to disciple and minister to his colleagues). We are at almost 1 year into this new journey and are waiting on God to lead us to the next step. Your video is a blessing and encouragement to me. It has been difficult for me to daily lay down my pride and not go back to my financially lucrative position. But I do not want to have to wander like the Israelites in the wilderness so I will daily humble myself and wait and teach my children the Word of God and pray for them to make a genuine declaration of faith in Jesus Christ. There are so many churches today that are more interested in increasing their numbers than true disciples. I am so happy that this was revealed to you. During my church ministries, I never asked for any payment for my services. I felt I was given the words to speak freely, and I gave them freely. Therefore, I always had a full time job, so best of luck with you new job. Keep up the good work of spreading the saving Gospel of Christ.
So many churches birth from the emotional experience and build on sand. Study Lutheran Pietism and you'll come to see much more clearly where a great deal of modern "American" style churches where birth from spreading out during the second great awakening.
Experience became preeminent and personal testimony king. This thinking brings forth all types of error, movements and people who are self confirmed in their folly. Who's to say a LDS Mormon is wrong? Their personal experience and testimony is what bears witness to what is true.

I am not a Christian, but I applauded your awakening in seeing what is right and channeling your beliefs and energies in that direction.

You are 100 percent correct. You will reach more people outside the church wall. I'm in the workplace. I certainly have more impact now than ever. I go to church but participate more outside the church. We need to make sure we are about building up the Kingdom not the church programs and building. Blessings to you and may God walk with you.

Hey Jon, thanks for sharing your story! As someone who is a part of a smaller church of around 200 people, I feel a lot of the personal ministry and actual day-to-day Christian living is emphasized a lot more in these smaller bodies. Sermons at least at my church are expositionally preached from the Word in a way that isn’t afraid to scare people away and encourages the congregation to always grow in their faith. Not saying mega churches are bad at all but in my experience, I feel many of them focus their efforts on getting people in the door while often neglecting actual shepherding of the souls within their congregation. Size is never the true problem, but I feel a healthy church will always strive to take care of their members’ souls while also reaching out to the wider world over looking at what size and scale of events or congregations they can achieve. By God’s will growth in numbers will either come or it won’t, and both of those results will be for his kingdom.

I think that you just changed the platform but you are still a preacher. 😊 As you grow this YT channel, you will still be thinking of contents and programs. Maybe the only difference is that you now have a wider reach. And as you go to the marketplace and become more exposed, you will now have more relatable illustrations that display the power of God. Fantastic, this just CHANGED MY LIFE.
Thank you. As a former elder of a small recently planted church we did well in the first three years. The people were on a spiritual high, hungry for the word of God. But sadly pride brought disconnect to the leaders. I was glad when Covid happened because it opened my eyes to see that we were no longer serving God but we’re trying to grow in numbers. As I stepped down as elder of the church the two pastors decided to close to church doors for good.
I opened my home to fellowship for two years until everyone found a church to attend. I truly believe that it was God’s will that the church close down. My heart no longer desires to serve in the church but outside as you said. Thanks again for sharing your story. God bless you in all you do.

I do believe God is outside the church as well and God's word & presence needs to be everywhere & encouraged and shared throughout everywhere we travel daily.I see that most churches are promoting the mega church n personally feel God's congregations aren't being led in the right direction. My beloved friend Jon, I believe the Lord has begun to wake you up and let you see what He sees and feels what He feels. Let him be the Alpha and the Omega in everything you do. Jesus woke me up in 2013 and had me leave a mega church to finally find peace where 2 or three were gathered and there He was in the midst and here He is still with me in the simplicity of the gospel.

“What is a church?” Or “what is the church”
Many people think it’s a building but it’s not.
The actual ekklesia is not a building. God dwelleth not in a temple made with hands. God is spirit and those who worship God must worship Him in Spirit and Truth.

Hi Jon, it was amazing to listen to your experience because I have felt that way for years myself. Several years ago I just couldn't go to church one more Sunday and be comfortable and listen to an awesome sermon and then go home. I needed more. I needed to live out my faith. So I went out to the world looking for ways to serve and love people. I was saved because someone who didn't know me showed me unconditional love, the way Jesus loves. I believe God wants us to go out there and show His love to the homeless on the streets , the sick people in the hospitals, the single parents who need help, widows who are lonely, the orphans needing love and a home. We need to get out there everyday not just on Sundays. After work help someone anyway you can, meet them in their need. I believe that is the message God is telling his people. So bless you brother, follow Jesus, Amen!

Hi Jon. Greetings from small island Spore! Recently I was telling a Christian bro that I feel many Christian leaders have aspiration to do well, follow their spiritual dreams which may be to grow his church to a "mega" size church n this makes them feels good n if they recognise that they have become "famous, popular" n can command a high standing in the "industry" n so they will move on the next level which is to start a "company" which deals in ministry of conducting big scales Christian conferences, writing books, etc etc...n I wondered how many of these are really God's plan cos Im beginning to see them as man doing things after its own desires n aspiration. Yes people will say if God is not behind it, it will not be successful which I agree but I also think if that leader has hell of a lot of charisma, leadership n "pulling power" he will definitely going to produce results to a certain degree n impressive as well. I bet leaders in "successful" church will have a certain amount of pride being associated with it n also felt proud of their church. N Im very sure there are these "successful" churches who will look down on small churches as not ",successful" n sadly I have heard them say n question "why isnt the church growing?". So they equates size as God's being behind it or not behind it since its not a growing church. I was once with a church (about 5000 attendance) for 7 to 8 yrs. Serve in one of the ministry for about 4 yrs n I left after that. I felt shallow in that ministry where ppl just come to do their part n ppl are not close within the ministry itself. Its a very shallow relationship. I heard its the same in other ministry within this church. Some leaders i spoke to told me "big church is like that" but hey within my ministry there are only 12 of us. Many leaders only know u when they are on duty greeting ppl at the door, after that they dont know u. Ministry has become "work" n not relationship. These days I frown on church with big platform with concert like worship with beautiful lightings n for some, with hi tech cameras like some TV stations. These all look n sound impressive but shallow n hollow behind if my experience tells me. I could have continued playing my guitar on stage n enjoy the "lime light" n good feelings but Im looking for something beyond these shallow stuff. To me being a Christian is from Monday to Saturday on the ground, relating to the people I see in need on the streets. My ex pastor (who runs a home church reaching foreign workers) brought a small stool with a notice "prayer for free" hang behind him. He sat in the market n does that. In the eye of the world, it can look stupid n unglamorous but he's humble enough to stoop that low for God. Not many pastor today will do that. Such humble unglamorous pastor really encourage me. Thks
God's purpose and plan is for everyone. Pastors are still human being dealing with the flesh. God's know your heart. Back to basic, the Holy Spirit will guide us, not pastors.
Fellowships with others require mutual understanding with communications, time efforts, caring. Mega churches works mostly on top down hierarchy, I don't like it as it reflects master slave orientation.
My friend, I will admit that for the longest time I wanted all of those things. To have big conferences. To be featured in events. To be a "famous pastor" (for the Lord of course), but the scripture tells Jesus will say "well done good and faithful servant", not "famous servant". (Matthew 25:23).

Instead they are guided by the man on stage, the motivational (not spiritual)messages, the concert like music, the celebrity like musicians on stage, the lights, the smoke machines, the video images behind each songs. Had they been guided by the holy spirit they would have been able to recognise the "wolf in sheep outfit" charismatic leader such a Carl Lenzt who wants nothing but fame, association with celebrities (to further enhance his images n use it to draw more to himself), etc. I think even a non believer can see the tell tale sighs in him but sadly not these young hip Christians. I have a few times people telling me that alot of churches in Europe are dead. The services are attended by only the old folks. The service looks dead bcos there's no dynamic music n speakers to draw in the young people n if these churches dont keep up with the latest trend, they will all die out. But now I see it differently, I dont see these old fashion churches with their old folks still stuck in their old hymns, as dead churches. I see them as alive. Alive not because of some dynamic speaker and music. Alive bcos they have a personal relationship with Jesus n have journey thru the highs n lows with God. Their faith is rock solid beneath that "dead looking church exterior". These folks are the ones who will share with you their personal journey with the Lord while the young folks from Hillsongs churches will share with u their jouney in relation to the big music, the fantastic lively church with concert like worship, the handsome cool pastor like Carl n he even have frens like Justin Bieber. This is what their journey is like which Jesus called "houses built on sand".

Blessings! You are on point! Congratulations for being so courageous to follow God where He has lead you, He will not fail. It takes a real man with a heart for God to follow Him where mainstream isn't. In the year 2005 God spoke to me and said, "I am not happy with what Church has done to the families. They go to Church to be separated after being apart all week, they have to be in Church all week in meetings, rehearsals, activities, still separated from each other." Then He said something that I have kept in my heart but thought I would share with you. He said, "The way you do Church is about to fall"...

Wow Pastor! I am amazed to see your video! My husband and I were in a season where we are transitioning. He used to be a full time admin/worship leader at a church. We do worship Mondays, Wed, Friday and Sundays but then I started asking my husband and questioning myself, where are the non believers coz now we are just surrounded by christians. I mean there is nothing wrong with that but I remember what my Pastor said” if you’ve been seeing the same faces in your fellowship for a month or two then something is not right” Im asking my self how many non believers was I able to bring to church coz as our schedule has been full lately. 😟 then my husband and i kept on hearing from God and we both heard Him said “GO OUT and don’t stay inside the church” so now thats where we are headed I believe. God lead us attend an Alpha class and it ended today! I think we haven’t started yet but Im amazed how God has been speaking to us, that we should bring the worship outside that we should be like the disciples who is always outside sharing the gospel spending time with non believers to help them know Jesus. Hi my fellow Brethren in Christ. I too was visited by Jesus Christ , who told me to go into The Hedges and highways and compel men to come into The Kingdom .
I was what you would call a pew baby, and 3rd generational Apostolic, Pentecostal. But one day The LORD showed me that He NEVER told us to build building and wall ourselves in from the the peoples of the world. BUT He told us to go into the world and preach The Gospel to every creature.
He Told us in the Scriptures that He does NOT dwell in temples made by hands but that our bodies are The Temple of The Holy Ghost. I and my family have left the building for 7 years now. And we are helping the homeless both natural and spiritually, we are spreading The Gospel and The Plan of salvation according to Acts2:38.
Now we have come to realize that we MUST live Holy EVERYDAY. The building taught us the mentality of having a mindset of a Christian on church days. We have our specific church clothes and church shoes and church hats and church personification, but when we leave that building we change our outfits and put on a different mindset, and we go to work or school or entertainment etc. and church is in the background now, awaiting its turn on Sunday and or a couple other days a week. Oh I weep , because so many years I’ve wasted with that mentality. We MUST be Christian EVERYDAY. 😢
We have a home fellowship now and The Spirit of The LORD is working miracles in our lives. Please don’t try to defend the building called church. It’s NOT Biblical really it’s not.🥺 I know you don’t want to offend anybody. But when GOD says something is wrong, it’s wrong. And if we really care about the ones who are still under the entrapment of these buildings, then we will lovingly warn them as well. Remember a buddy will tell you what you want to hear but a friend will tell you what you need to know.
It was the plan of satan to get us so busy in the business of in church business that we miss the point of who we are, and what we are really supposed to be doing. We have been running so many programs in the building that we programmed GOD right out of The Building. Remember the rebuke He Gave the Laodicean church in the 3rd chapter of Revelation.
And Jon Remember the way to hell is broad and the gate is wide and many there be that enter therein. But The Way to LIFE is narrow and the gate is strait ( not straight) but strait. And that word means strict.
I truly enjoyed this testimony and I am praying for everyone to continuance in Christ Jesus. And I Pray that you all have done according to Acts 2:38 because this will make you Rapture Ready, my friends.
