I love the reasoning and logic of Mr Manuel. Very sound point made here!

Are teachers unions not there to represent teachers/educators? He should speak on educators concerns re bela bill such as: are educators protected against learner violence, educators that are against teaching sex education in foundation phase due to religious reasons- what are their rights, will they be dismissed if they dont want to teach it? etc. So glad I left Naptosa.

Naptosa was preceded by SAUVSE...South African Union for Vocational and Specialised Education. Many teachers in Special Needs education were members.
Special needs learners are more likely to have barriers to learning in a language they are not fluent in.
Will the Bela Act actually give support to this fact, in allowing teaching in such schools happening in more than one, even more than two, languages, in the same, or extra classrooms, of the same school?
There are other matters, as well, that have to be resolved, but please give serious attention to this one that I have mentioned.

There is going to be a huge resistance from Afrikaans dominant schools to change because of SGB's

To this day it just beyond comprehensioin that educated peolple can state a langauge will be protected "because it lives in people". That is pre-school level of reasoning. Protecting and promoting language and culture requires an active project, it requires a great deal of energy and organization. It requires a multi generational strategy and the careful creation of a environment that drives it despite pressures from the dominant or mainstream langauge. The non-chalant denial of the truth is disturbing. He is iether dishonest or ignorant to a point where his qualifications must be questioned. Or, lets be honest, he is just playing politics.

The decision about the language was always with the parents.

My comment has not been placed? About Special Needs learners , some of them, having problems even learning in their own mother tongue. What now forcing them into learning in the language the Government seems fit?

From next year some publi school principals made themselves laws that if the child did not issue fundraising money ,casual money ,tissues, typex are not going be given statipnary and will not be allowed to enter in class
.eg Mohlakaneg High school and LETLOTLO PRIMARY SCHOOL ARE EXAMPLE FOR THAT MATTER

Correct! You pay no play, blacks won’t even play sports in public schools… whites are not going to fund you anymore

I support this. The whole 30 years schools to advantage of learners forcing learners to do donations and forcing vaccines 💉 on peoples children and other things.
And they never took language issues seriously. Government will come in and protect learners rights and languages

But do the teachers even know English well enough to be able to teach effectively in the language? I wonder if the minister will type regulations that sounds like rules or regulations that aim to bridge the gaps while aiding the implementation of the Bela Act. What was wrong with the current arrangement that now all schools need to use English?

Does this mean going forward all children will be taught in English at schools ?

Let's say that there is an Afrikaans speaking school in Engcobo which is a Xhosa prominent area in EC, that school will have to teach in both Afrikaans and IsiXhosa

Not yet, but if not carefully managed with, and finding a great deal of resources somewhere, English only is a very likely outcome
