Philippines is under hot climate. But still boosts in culture and heritage. Filipino Dark Academia is like channeling your inner Jose Rizal (national hero) or Francisco Balagtas while you're in an Hispanic Filipino heritage house. Or walking alone in the rain in Intramuros or Old Manila.
Right? It's looks nice to wear but impractical whenever the climate is hot. I only ever wear academia fits whenever it's heavily raining or extremely cold :(

With exchanging the long sleeve butting downs for shorter ones, you can actually just unbutton the cuffs and roll up your sleeves. It saves money and looks nice and gives a working aesthetic. I'd also look into lighter clothing as dark colours tend to absorb heat

One trick I have is I keep my outer layers/jackets at work so I can walk into work in my tank or crop tee layer and put it on in the ac. Skirts and shorts actually look very cute with jackets and chunky boots, oxfords and DA sandals imo.

This is so helpful for when summer comes around where I live, I may not live in an “always hot” climate but…it does get very hot and humid in the summer here from may to about late September to early October and having the aesthetic and trying to keep it as a capsule wardrobe to save space is a little bit of a challenge
About the dicky, try with a sleeveless shirt instead! You still have your arms uncovered but it stays in place better and you can remove a layer if needed :)

i live in outback australia where the temps are 34-39 degrees Celsius in spring and 42 degrees Celsius CONSTANTLY for summer. Theese tips are solid, but mostly i just wear a long sleeve cotton or rayon button up and rayon wrap/apron style ankle length skirt and a wide brim sunhat.... anything beyond that just cannot be done haha! most here who are actually out of doors do wear very sensible clothing for heat and sun - cotton, denim and hats........... far less skirts though :)

Hello there~ I just came across the first dark academia clip and decided to check this one as well for obvious reason. I actually didn't purposely search for fashion but one day a clip of dark academia outfit showed up in my feed and out of curiosity I checked it out.. and realized that it's what my most used style actually is lol! I have plenty of plaid skirts (accumulated overtime because hey I love plaids!), button up shirts (for college and work), vest (I think this works perfectly too if it's too warm for a coat/cardigan!), and cardigan (though I don't wear it often these days), and I also wear oxford shoes and loafers w/ socks most of the time. My colleagues called it chic and K-style but I never actually thought about a name to it.. so anyway I'm rambling but nice videos! Keep it up~

Well, i feel like the colors are almosy more impoetant that the clothes themselves. You can still look dark academia if you wear long pants with a black t-shirt and smth on your hair, fancy shoes or short, thick heels. Or short pladded pants with a white/cream/brown/black shirt with shoes, and golden, bronze or black accessories. It can be skirts and dresses that are pladded too. Its so much more than just sweaters and pants, it's the colors, acessories, etc.
a lot of dressing in hot climates is measuring how much heat you are willing to deal with and knowing where you're going. is it a place with ac or will you be walking and sitting around in the sun ?

This is literally my problem. Well, before knowing this whole Dark Academia aesthetic, my preferred style/fashion is already leather shoes, polos, sweaters, suit, vest,etc. My problem is that I live in Philippines and its hot here almost all year round. I can only wear my preferred clothes when its rainy season or its cold but due to climate change, cold and rainy weathers are sometimes unpredictable lmao

Kinda of this on this topic, I find that I struggle with having tops that are NOT black or white (and long sleeve), any recommendations for tops that can be pattern easily with pinafores/dresses, and patterned skirts? Literally the large majority of the shirts I wear are black and white which are tough to wear in the heat!
