Quality modern animation, even if it was drawn completely using computer graphics, cost as an actual film with the real life action or not so much less. So, it isn't about money.

I don't remember if it might have been Toriyama, but a big creator said in an interview once that he would often watch and observe real people, both in person and in film, and he would use those observations to write his characters. Now we have people who are more and more out of touch with society, history and life in general who are now in prominent roles in the industry. Just because someone is an avid fan of something, doesn't mean that they intrinsically understand what makes that thing good. That's why we don't have many thing's like this nowadays. That and the obvious intrusion of identity politics that ruins everything it touches. It's sad, but history always ebs and flows, like a guitar string. The further it is pulled in one direction, the stronger the rebound will be. Our "current situation" has gone further than it should have, and the rebound is coming. I don't know when, or what will be the thing that tips the scale, but it "will" come. Hopefully most of us will still be around for the sunrise, but just remember that it's always darkest just before dawn, so things will have to get much worse before they get the least bit better. Stay well everyone!

I have seen several Jin roh tributes before but I gotta say this is the best I have seen so far. Especially the beginning considering the fact the slower remix together with the visual setup as it builds suspense that lets you appreciate the grim ambience.
Basically every generic bad guy design that takes inspiration from WW2 Germany. 1930's/40's Germany culture is discusting and dark, but man did they have style. 80+ years later and it's still iconic super soldier/villain.
You can tell that this movie was less a movie and more of a project. The guys behind this really stretched all the skills and resources they had to make this.
