One Ok Rock is one of the best rock bands of our generation regardless of nationality. If you want a real treat next, watch We Are live Tokyo performance.
You definitely have been missing out. 😏 A few things. Yes, they're signed to Fueled by Ramen (pronounced like "rah-men" btw), but this song was released before they signed with an American label. They were very successful in Japan and Asia even before they made it out West. Yes, this song is sung in a mix of English and Japanese. The transition is so smooth that people who listen to it for the first time often don't realize when the switch is made. You mentioned Against the Current, and they actually have a song that features the vocalist Taka called "Dreaming Alone." Funny that you say that you wanted to listen to the studio version first to hear the band's "full potential." It's actually the other way around. Any fan will tell you that these guys sound even better live. It's a shame that you just missed them on tour. They just wrapped up their North American tour for their latest album Luxury Disease last month. However, they'll be opening for Muse during the first half of Muse's North American tour next year if you want to try to catch them live. For recs, you should definitely check out the live version of this song at Eye of the Storm Japan Tour. Then, if you want something that's a similar vibe to this, try "Mighty Long Fall" at 35xxxv Japan Tour. "We are" at Ambitions Japan Dome Tour is always a track that inspires awe. These guys are so versatile and their discography spans many different genres. The fact that they can play them all so well speaks to their musicianship. You will love discovering more from this band. They've got a documentary on Netflix called Flip a Coin which can help you learn a bit about them. Not to self-promote, but if you check my profile, I've got a link to my website dedicated to OOR where you can check up on lyrics translations and such. Hope to see you reacting more to ONE OK ROCK soon!!!
Fun Fact: TOP got their first international exposure because Taka(ONE OK ROCK vocalist) took them on as an opening act for one of their previous world tours. Taka is one of their executive producers
OOR is a amazing band, their live performances are better than studio version , Taka's (vocal) voice is heart touching, you can literally feel the emotion in his voice. Tomoya (drummer) has his own channel on RUclips, it called " Tomoya Studio", you can check it out, but he speaks Japanese through the whole video and doesn't have subtitle, that might be a problem 😂
The track "Neon" from their latest(8th) studio album LUXURY DUSEASE was co-written by Taka and Brendon Urie(P!ATD). "Renegades" was co-written with Ed Sheeran. One Way Ticket" was co-written with Mike Shinoda(Linkin Park) *ONE OK ROCK - Wherever You Are JINSEI X KIMI TOUR* is my request if you wanna hear how great they are in nailing a live acoustic ballad.
They're a phenom! I LOVE them and so does everyone else who hears them. They're energy is INSANE! They also have amazing messages in their music too. So glad you're checking them out. Thanks!
If you are familial wiht Against The Current ,Taka of One OK Rock is feat. on their song Dreaming Alone . I think One OK Rock is most known J-Rock band.
My favorite band! And they’re just beginning to get recognition in the west now. Btw, their live shows are REALLY good. I suggest Cry Out (Ambitions live), Clock Strikes (Japan dome live), and I Was King (orchestra live). 🎶
I love one ok rock! Thanks for the reactions!!! See them live because their live shows are the best!Highly recommended! *The Beginning [Official Video from "EYE OF THE STORM" JAPAN TOUR] *We are [Official Video from AMBITIONS JAPAN DOME TOUR] *Wasted Nights [Official Video from "EYE OF THE STORM" JAPAN TOUR]
Cant wait to see more ONE OK ROCK! Thank you for this! 💖 and yes they're pretty versatile, they have been trying different genres and eveything is good! from ballad to even screamo rock. but better to check out their live videos, they're way better live!
welcome to OOR (one ok rock) family. here we have Taka ( main singer ), Tomoya (Drummer), Ryota (Bassist) and Toru ( Guitarist/Band Leader ). OOR is a whole japanese band and they adapted all their music in japan. In case if u wondering why they sounds like more western pop/punk rock culture is solely becuz of they just want to adapt to into latest music style. i believe they started to change their style in the album of '3xxxv5; which released in 2015. Before that album their music is very nostalgic with old rock vibe style and tbh i really missed their performance of the older song cuz it really good. Anyway i suggest for the next video i would suggest u to check out One Ok Rock-Clock strikes first and then checkout the live version cuz u will see the differences between studio version and live version. If u think studio version is mind blowing enough wait till u see the live version!
Congrats on discovering this gem of a band! These guys are amazing live so plz check out their live stuff next time. Please react to them "We are" from Tokyo dome tour. I also felt like I missed a lot when I found them couple of years ago. But you know better late than never :)
Seriously this band excels live, they're so freaking good, therefore I highly recommend "Take What You Want" from Ambitions JAPAN Dome Tour 2018: ruclips.net/video/Ygn6aiTtCeY/видео.html and "We are" from the same tour: ruclips.net/video/uyaKoj7wABY/видео.html Trust 🤘
Oh my god, you reacted to One ok rock! They're super incredible, especially live (one of the few bands that could make lives better studio ver). You should check out "Deeper Deeper" and "No scared"!
Stoked to see you check them out! They have a super diverse discography, genre-wise, so expect to hear lots of different styles! There's lots of great suggestions in the comments but I'm just chiming in to emphasize and reiterate that their live performances are an entirely different experience. That's where they show their full potential and where the band themselves have placed their focus. I hope you enjoy your discovery of one ok rock!
These guys were one of my favorite bands at the 2019 Vans Warped Tour (25th Anniversary Tour). I was there for a ton of bands and I heard a lot of people saying they wouldn’t miss One OK Rock so I headed to the stage and I dropped my jaw, then I saw John Feldman watching them standing in the back line and he was rocking out. I believe he ended up doing a few projects with them. If Feldman notices your hard work and talent you are definitely something special!
You know what's more hype than this? Reacting to the live version from their concert at Yokohama Stadium. Hardcore headbanging in this one! Here's the link: ruclips.net/video/r9da3oeTD6A/видео.html Another one that's pure hype is "Mighty Long Fall" live version from the same concert. Link: ruclips.net/video/i7seozLvbHw/видео.html Their live versions are always better than the studio versions. Taka (vocalist) once said that their album is like an invitation for people to come to their live shows to experience their real music.
OneOkRock is a Japanese Band but they like to go through different genres in every album. Their older albums/songs are definitely more rock or heavy feel compared to their newer albums. They also sang in a lot of Japanese in their older songs until they became more popular. They mainly sing in English since they have overseas fans but will still also make a separate album in Japanese for their fans in their country which is so awesome because that's how dedicated they are for their fans. I think they were heavily influenced by many popular American rock bands, like LINKIN PARK. Music is a universal language that many countries will play rock/sing in their own native language. Rock is very popular in Japan, that there are a lot of rock bands in Japan. OneOkRock was one of the small bands that were able to break through and become popular/famous. Many Japanese people know who OneOkRock is, that is how famous they are and they are very proud of them. I am so proud of them and that I wish that more people would listen to them.
I'm smiling while looking at your reaction 😊 , they are so good aren't they 😅 I was lucky enough to find this group over 10 years ago!!! This song is the OST for the movie Ruroni Kenshin! So I found this song when the movie came out, you can actually find this same MV but instead of the couple, the imagenes are from the movie 😅 After that, I've been following the band and Taka specially as he's very good at keeping his fans updated and if i remember correctly, this song is now the closing song on their concerts and even here in America, everyone can sing their hearts out at the concerts!!! I would recommend for you to watch a live that is always amazing how Taka can run, jump and bang his head and still hit those notes like nothing 😅😎
I would love to see a comparison between a live version of stand out, fit it or when i was king (preferably the orchestra version from their 2018 tour becauseof its epicness) compared to the pv (Japan's name for music video, it’s short for promotional video). I think the contrast would blow your mind. Their lives are where they shine, compared to most bands. Except for the screamo, because poor Taka has an entire setlist for lives to survive and full screamo on one song just isn’t possible if he wants to give his all an entire live.
One OK Rock is from Japan but they have always been heavily influenced by American rock music. Even when singing in Japanese, Taka uses more of a western resonance/tone compared to other J-rock vocalists. I personally liked their older songs, one of my favorite older tracks is "Liar", it's a little bit more hard rock.
Could you check out the music video "Requiem for My Harlequin" by the band "Poets of the Fall" They are a super underrated rock band from Finland and my favorite band of all time! The song is the lead single of their 9th studio album "Ghostlight" which was released earlier this year.

Taka has a collab with Against The Current. It's title is Dreaming Alone. ATC made an all english cover of The Beginning on one of their past albums.
Hello @TYLR Reacts, They play in sold-out stadiums in Japan, as you'll see when reacting to live videos. Live they are amazing!
Thanks for reacting!
Now this is your the beginning of reacting to ONE OK ROCK

By the way their bassist is a husband of Avril Lavigne's little sister.

Their live concerts are just next level,..GOAT!!
Haha. We all heard him sing rock. Totally rocks! Lets go back and listen to Taka singing with Simple Plan. :D
Ambitions Japan Dome Tour “whereve you are” slow version. It's a very luxurious live.

I'm glad that you like ONE OK ROCK😊

Taka did featuring with against the current in a song called 'dreaming alone'. You should check it out.
There is a song feat Taka by Against the Current.. I think the song is ‘Dreaming Alone’ :)
💛💛💛💛
The real thing is here.
They did North America tour this year. Of course 23 venue sold out.

Personally, I like Tomoya's piano. If you haven't seen it yet, I recommend watching it. ruclips.net/video/wfPfmowuLRM/видео.html
