      True! The first word I learned from Japanese is “Baka” probably because my mom always called dad that. My dad’s Japanese so he understands but always just laughs it off😂

    As far as I understand, the stereotype for English in Japan is loud (either obnoxious or energetic depending on how you see it), lots of hand gestures, and a bit on the aggressive side. xD

      Yes! I think they’re talking about Karens! 🤣😊 I cackled. It’s 1:20am. This seriously never occurred to me until I happened upon these videos. I, like most Americans, am so self involved that it never occurred to me that I may sound weird to foreigners. A tad bit humbling. 😊

    This is so interesting. I personally think Japanese sounds really nice but I always wondered if English just sounds irritating or annoying to non-English speakers

      I think its overreacting. Imagine asking europeans how africans and chinese sounds.. they would suddently become "racist"

      @@ok_listen they would be called racist, by some keyboard warriors but most would be of same amount of racism as the people in this video, which is non. I imagine most would try to say the few limited words they know.

      Nah you are right. The sound level and the aggressiveness we have is definitely seen as annoying. In Italy, it's important to introduce yourself first before asking a stranger a question. But westerners love to just run up to people and just start asking them questions very loudly.

      My husband grew up in ecuador and he moved to the states as a kin his English is fine. But his family can't really speak it and I can't really speak it. But we communicate by hand gestures, pointing, and expressions super easily. No one ever gets mad. I think people just get scared about stuff they don't know because they don't want to look embarrassed.

    From my experience with my japanese family, it seems that it’s hard for japanese speakers to imitate English because it has more sounds in the words and alphabet than japanese does

      It's very rare for words in Japanese to have consonant clusters, while in English it's more common, so I get what you mean.

      That tends to be the perception of native English speakers to the rest of the world, but in the States and here in the UK we seem to get that the most.

    I really want to know what accent English people speaking Japanese have. Like Japanese speaking English is distinct from Spanish speaking English or Polish speaking English. So is the English speaking Japanese accent annoying, pleasant, easy to understand, comedic??

      I’m pretty sure it’s because you are supposed to learn English as one of the main subjects during school. 😅 I can tell you that it’s as equally hard to learn English for Japanese people.
