Wow! I've never heard another audiobook where a single person has successfully established and accomplished so many different iconic characters with just his voice. When I'm listening I can tell who is talking before the speaker is credited because of Andy's dedication to giving each character it's own voice. It feels more like an audio drama at time. Harper Collins should see if Andy can read The Silmarillion next.
Me! I purchased them last night and fell asleep listening! He has such a soothing voice and the characters all sound great. Been enjoying it since I got up this morning. ☺️📖🎧
Was refreshing my audible library so many times this morning till the download was available. Helped me get through work by ignoring my colleagues all day.
thank you for doing this, I've never listened to any audiobooks before, and started with Andy Serkis' The Hobbit, and now this! I'm still in chapter 1 and I'm really really enjoying every bit of it. Well done to everyone involved in the production!
My favorite audiobooks of all time are the Harry Potter books narrated by Jim Dale. If you want another amazing audiobook experience, I would highly recommend listening to those.
I really love listening to the audio books, I've never watched the movies, so it's wonderful to hear the story. You bring the chapters to life, thank you so much. Cheers Rosemary Western Australia 73yrs
I’ve been hunting for video of these recordings because the voices are so dynamic I figured it would be really fun to watch him do it… turns out I was correct! 😅 Amazing performances.
Words cant describe this man, and his talent. He is one of a kind. Hope to listen soon to his version of the audiobook. Atm i am enjoying listening to Phil Dragash version. But no one can read like Andy, what i herd on trailers. Thank you Andy for all that you did and stil are doing.
At first im not really into audiobook but after listening to his narration of "The Hobbit" (which is my first time listening to audiobook) , i begin to love it. And im so excited to check out the LOTR!
That's exactly what got me started with audiobooks! The Hobbit was the first audiobook I have ever listened to, all because Serkis is a Brilliant narrator!
This is such a fantastic achievement in audiobook performances. I've never read the series before this, and it is such a wonderful way to experience this world. Thank you so much for your passion and dedication to this production and allowing new readers of the series to experience the magic of it.
It was a wonderful surprise and pleasure to hear Andy's LotR audiobooks. These are much more than brilliant technical and theatrical achievements: he illuminates the text and reveals themes and connections which aren't obvious, even for readers who are familiar with the books. There are some passages that must have been difficult to plan and execute: for example, The Council of Elrond involves endless pages of exposition, yet he somehow brings it all to life. After Mr Doom, the style of the prose becomes so elevated that it's totally at odds with modern, ironic language that it's hard to make the lines authentic and credible. Yet he makes it all work. There are significant difficulties and oddities throughout Tolkien's prose, but Andy never falters. And as for the many, many songs - ranging from silly doggerel all the way to deep, otherworldly utterances - all performed a capella without any clues from the author regarding melody, harmony or tempo - Andy is at his most creative and skillful. Absolutely outstanding: enhancing and enlivening the books. People have won Oscars, Grammys and Tonys for performances which are much less skillful, emotionally authentic and creative than this. His reinterpretation of Aragorn is just one revelation. Andy deserves great praise and recognition for this tour de force.
Andy, Middle Earth isn't a place we ever leave for long. I read "The Lord of the Rings" in the seventies and I've returned to my literary home from time to time ever since. Love your "Hobbit" narration - and Smeagol, of course! Can't wait to hear your Bombadil. 🌹
I'm currently listening to The Return Of The King after listening to the first two, and, I have to say, Andy Serkis narrates and acts them out brilliantly.
This was awesome. Can we please get a reading with all of the lotr cast members reading the trilogy? That seriously needs to happen! Then my life will be complete. 💜💜💜
Nothing can top the books that Tolkien wrote, because they are the source material. Composers, film directors and painters can only try to meet the high standards in terms of artistic, aesthetic quality that Tolkien achieved with his legendarium.
I listened to the whole trilogy during the summer. It was great narration. A brilliant achievement to inhabit the cast of characters and do so in a way that made them vivid in the mind’s eye. Evocative and compelling.
I've listened to A LOT of audiobooks, and Andy's work is by far the greatest audiobook narration of all time. Nothing else even comes close. Edit: Don't talk to me about Phil Dragash. Complete garbage.

Loving Fellowship so far, he really does a fantastic job just like he did on The Hobbit! Fingers crossed he does The Silmarillion!
and he does
Who else has been listening to LOTR narrated by Serkis, while reading the books along, all day today? 🎧📖🙂🎧❤
Me! I purchased them last night and fell asleep listening! He has such a soothing voice and the characters all sound great. Been enjoying it since I got up this morning. ☺️📖🎧
Skipped straight to book 4.
Me!!
Listening to Andy's narration meanwhile reading the book really helps understanding.
I have. He is great.
I've heard 3 different narrators attempt reading of the Lord of the Rings. Andy is simply in another class..by far the best.
Was refreshing my audible library so many times this morning till the download was available. Helped me get through work by ignoring my colleagues all day.
Finally, the LOOONG waiting is over 🙂, and All three LOTR audiobooks narrated by Andy Serkis are in my Audible Library!! 🙂🎧📖
Awesome!
I am so happy I picked this up
I am currently listening to Mr. Serkis' performance and am at the Bombadil part. I ADORE his take on it. I really enjoy his performance so much.
What an absolute treasure this man is …

I’ve been listening to his audiobooks and I’m now on Return of the King!! Andy does such a FANTASTIC job! And of course his Gollum is always a treat 😂

So we know Andy's Gollum is unbeatable, but who would've thought his Frodo and Faramir would be so damn perfect?!
His Frodo is spot on, even when shouting “Sam!”
Andy Serkis is an international treasure!
Just at book 1 now with Andy. Can’t wait to get to the Gollum parts of the story.
Your not alone, it’s a very interesting interview. I am a total Tolkien enthusiast.
I'm glad he did this. His recording of The Hobbit is the best thing I've ever heard.
Loving it so far. Thanks Andy! I can’t believe they all dropped at the same time. What a treat!

His reading the chapter on Treebeard made me sob it was so good

Loving it so far, great job
This man is amazing.
I had no idea this existed! I def want to check it out
Bought all 3 to own. Love Andy Serkis!
Just finished his reading of Fellowship of The Ring. Stunning performance throughout. Loved it more than the films. Onwards to the Two Towers.

He is the best narrator
They are absolutely fabulous! What an amazing talent. Definitely should have won special Oscars for LoTR movies and Planet of the Apes movies.
It was amazing 👏
Imagine if you could have the lotr movies but literal and in your head.
Amazing.
Andy has done stuff by both C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien, who were actually friends, so it's fitting that Andy worked on audiobooks by both authors.
I listened to the whole trilogy during the summer. It was great narration. A brilliant achievement to inhabit the cast of characters and do so in a way that made them vivid in the mind’s eye. Evocative and compelling.
I hope he comes back for the Silmarillion
Listen to 5:43 and then
Listen to 7:06
Coincidence?
I think not!
Is there s link to purchase these recordings?
I've listened to A LOT of audiobooks, and Andy's work is by far the greatest audiobook narration of all time. Nothing else even comes close.
