  • Overgrown hoof trimming and new horseshoe. Satisfying hoof restoration. Trimming a hoof with a lot of sole paring. Farrier pulls off old shoes, trims, and tacks on new shoe. Horseshoer trimming an overgrown hoof, trims hoof, and shapes and nails on new horseshoe.

    Great video. I use nippers to scrape dead sole. But never thought of using half rounds to aid in getting that much sole out. Thank you very much for showing this. It definitely will speed my day up.

    Fürchterlich. Vorher schlecht. Schande über den besitzer. Nachher auch grausig. Raspeln bis zum kronrand ? Zehe viel zu lang. So sieht kein guter huf aus.

      Yes - do you know how much LONGER it would have taken him to remove that much sole overgrowth with a knife? And how much more tiring it would have been both for the farrier AND for the horse?

      He obviously has a knife and knows how to use it. Trying to knife out that much dead, dry sole on a hoof that long can break your wrist no matter how sharp your knives are.

    Why didn’t he burn the shoe into the huff like others have do to level it out and also why didn’t he notch the front of the huff so the shoe protected the front of the huff

      @@Rabbi1966 It's a whole lot easier to get the shoe to an accurate fit if you shape it when it's red hot - and checking the fit when the shoe is still hot is far easier and quicker.

    Are you sure this isn’t hurting the horses? The process looks rough and the nails being hammered looks painful!

    • @Ronit_3025
      @Ronit_3025 2 года назад +2

      The hoof is actually of fingernail material, and pain receptors are absent in the hoof. So this is just as good as getting a pedicure

    • @jacquezfarrierservices1699

      This is a completely painless process if done correctly

    • @TheAyurvedic
      @TheAyurvedic 2 года назад +2

      Even if no one could be sure, the farrier wouldn’t survive the kicks that would come to him if this was painful. The horse knows.
