Steve Smith is one of my favorite receivers of all-time and as a Chargers fan, I would love for him to visit the team and talk to that young group of receivers, QJ, specifically. I remember QJ’s people not being fond of what Steve’s critiquing of him during the draft process but I’d love for them to have a man-to-man talk, and maybe even give him some advice. Who knows, Jim could be the one to bring them together. Maybe even a mentorship type of relationship that could come from something like that. You never know. Nothing brings men together like football. #boltup ⚡️
Bro. QJs people were all over my comments after the draft when I was skeptical as hell of the pick. He's hugely improved this year though. Hope he keeps going in that direction.
Chargers fan here. I agree. The route running and ball awareness is there. Good hands. Good out of breaks and turns up field fast. And they both play bigger than their size. What IS different is that Ladd isn't going to beat the shit out of you on the field.😂
@@boogymanjones5288ya dk why he felt the need to compare a rookies numbers to a 16 year wr. Almost felt like a mocking or shot at Ladd. Was very weird to include that part
When Steve explained the delay, made me realize why we got rid of M Williams and needed to keep KA 13, his routes and delays are killer and that’s why he always got the first down, 4th down and short TD plays. However glad we got Ladd with more upside in the future.
I'm pleasantly surprised by how gracious Steve was for this comparison. La-Dee-Dee is more twitchy than fast, and that's exactly what the Chargers need from him. hopefully Chark can be the speed guy.
I was never a Panthers fan specifically, having lived in Tampa for 18 years, but Steve Smith is a complete and total badass!! One of my favorite receivers of all time even though he never played for any of my favorite teams. Good guy, great athlete bad to the bone yo!!!
Ya that was so unnecessary to add. I rlly don’t understand what he was tryna prove saying that. Felt like a shot at Ladd to basically say slow down with that comp when Ladd has been phenomenal. Smith had 154 yards receiving his rookie year, Ladd nearly had that in week 8. Bet he didn’t wanna compare that stat
@@BrokeMalone Dude you’re comparing a rookie’s career stats to a borderline Hall of Famer. Harbaugh was just saying he caught the ball like Steve Smith Sr. sometimes
OUR SOCIAL MEDIA TEAM IS ELITE AND THEY NEED TO SEE THIS VIDEO AND GET IT TO HARBAUGH RIGHT AWAY! WE NEED TO TRY AND BRING IN STEVE SMITH LIKE AS A WR COACH LIKE WE DID THIS YEAR WITH BOWMAN.
There was a back shoulder throw from herbert to quentin johnston against the browns this week that was an amazing use of leverage. Unfortunately QJ was looking the other way, right at the defender so he had to turn back outside and missed the ball. That’s why JH throwing to La D D
The best part about Ladd's progression is that he is FINALLY drawing attention from multiple defenders. This will help open up other WRs (i.e. Josh Palmer TD against Browns).
Gained a new subscriber, thought for sure I was going to hear something race. Since that all ESPN feeds us. Steve sees people for who they are and not based on the color of someones skin. I know its subtle and stupid to some. But I really appreciate it, its a breath of fresh air.
To clarify he was comparing a very small part of Steve Smith Sr game in how he would put his and ups as if he was going to catch the ball in one place and then adjust at the last second so the db cant breakup the pass
Chargers fan here. This is a log comment, but I think it's a fun thought exercise. I'm not sure what dude was on about with the horrible stat comparison. It seemed forced and not necessary to add. BUT, their rookie numbers through 8 games ARE darn close with Ladd edging out on catches and TDs. Let's also look at the eerily similar context that they share as rookies. Both have/had solid coaching staffs. Steve was playing for a new franchise that was on its way to a superbowl appearance in a couple years. Jake Delhomme was a solid but not spectacular QB. He also split targets with Muhsin Muhammad, who was a damn good receiver. And Sam Mills was a HoF running back. The defense had a hall of famer on the D line and solid overall talent. Herbert is flat-out elite. It isn't my Charger bias speaking. It's recognizing objective greatness. He will end his career with a gold jacket. The organization is experiencing a rapid rebuild, with the arrow currently pointing up. A good rushing attack is the offensive focus. Ladd is splitting targets with Josh Palmer, and (to my happy surprise) Quentin Johnston is playing significantly better. Khalil Mack is a guaranteed Hall of Famer, Bosa is borderline depending on how he closes out his career. Derwin James is in his prime and on his way to Canton if he keeps the same pace, and the rest of the LBs and secondary are all playing at a high level.
Speed is great but it's not always the killer. Quikness" is key. Gates is a perfect example. He runs is routes to the dot. Gates is quik(for a big guy) and had great, reliable and consistent hands. Ladd has all of that with quickness in his route and his getaway speed after the catch. Ladd is the REAL deal and getting better. Stay healthy young gun! BOLT ALL the WAY UP!!⚡️⚡️💪🏽💪🏽⚡️⚡️
I haven’t seen Ladd mcconkey go get the ball in a contested catch situation the way Steve smith could. That man had hops , and his ability to aggressively high point was a key feature of his success (I’m talking about SS sr if it’s not clear).
First of all that is faster and you haven't been watching games but did you watch the last game where he went up in the corner of the end zone higher than the black dude white boy can jump
Steve smith, senior get your butt out there on the field play for the chargers.Show em how it's done! Could you imagine having him on your team? How transformative that would be?
I agree with Harbaugh. If and when he gets stronger to deal with presses and doubles and or more attention he could be a guy. He could be like a Steve/Cooper mashup
Steve had 154 receiving yards his rookie season and just under 900 in his second year so don't know what sense it makes to bring up career number . Compare rookie Ladd to rookie Steve
That's a fact but sorry ladd I love his game but not close to Steve Smith lol sorry not aggressive than him but I told panthers ladd is who we needed just like I said no johnathan mingo we get Josh downs or tank smh
This dude is GLAZING Steve SO HARD 😂😂😂😂😂 Talking about career stats against a rookie is so brain dead. Steve had 10 receptions for 150 yds his rookie season. The first half of this video is irrelevant
Steve, go hang out at Chargers camp lol.
for real we could use him to teach our wr sum techniques
Please Steve!
Do it, harbaugh would love having you at the facility.

If QJ was the type of guy that would benefit from Steve Smiths mentorship, he would already be better than he is.
I did a segment on Quentin earlier this year:

Excelente Stevo. Well done sir. I love the honesty at the end. Between the ears.
Lol the cooper Kupp thing “Sneaky good” it’s always the white dudes being compared to each other it’s hilarious
😂😂 it's funny because kupp and mcconkey have nothing in common. Kupp is a big strong tackle breaker, while mcconkey is a quick contested catch guy.
NBAdraft mock draft website compared Adam Morrison to Larry Bird. 🤣🤣🤣
Yeah, that’s crazy. Rookie receiver Ladd McConkey has a lot less career yards than potential HoFer Steve Smith Sr.

Smaller, fast, aggressive to the ball, yards after the catch, tough route running.
