Indimenticabile messa in scena della bellissima favola The Sleeping Beauty di Perrault che conta su di un’altrettanto fantastica musica di Tchaicovsky … di questo evento di pura poesia il merito va al Mariinsky Teatre che ha profuso tutte le proprie energie e capacità perché la favola prendesse vita in maniera impeccabile e ciò sia attraverso una scenografia congeniale alla meraviglia che deve avvolgere e catturare lo spettatore fin da subito, sia contando sull’apporto fondamentale della Direzione Artistica del Maestro Valery Gergiev e degli straordinari musicisti dell’Orchestra Sinfonica del Teatro. Meravigliosi i due protagonisti della Piece, due veri fuoriclasse entrambi allievi della prestigiosa Accademia Vaganova … da un lato una deliziosa e romantica Alina Somova che con la sua grandissima tecnica e la sua innata ed elevatissima classe ha saputo dar vita ad una Principessa Aurora perfettamente in sintonia con il clima onirico dell’opera … dall’altro un regale e superbo Vladimir Shklyarov perfetto nella parte del Principe Desire’. La cosa che più colpisce di lui e’ l’umiltà e la semplicità con le quali esegue i passi della coreografia, anche quelli più complessi e potenti dal punto di vista tecnico, con una leggiadria tale da farli apparire semplici e naturali (qualità questa che è propria dei grandi artisti che non hanno bisogno di cercare con artifizi il clamore ed il consenso) a lui va poi riconosciuto un eccezionale magnetismo, anch’esso proprio degli artisti di classe, capace di attirargli l’attenzione dello spettatore, anche quando non in primo piano, e poi la capacità di valorizzare al massimo le sue Partners con un rispetto ed ammirazione degni di evidenza, lasciando loro sempre un ampio spazio all’onore della scena e dell’applauso. Completano il quadro, concorrendo a realizzare il meraviglioso spettacolo alcuni altri meravigliosi artisti interpreti delle fantastiche figure del Re, della Regina, delle varie Fate, prime fra tutte la terribile Fata Carabosse interpretata in modo magistrale dal grande Igor Kolb e il fantastico Bluebird affidato alla bravura conclamata di Alexey Timofeyev. Grazie Mariinsky per questo ennesimo sogno che, al risveglio, aiuta tutti noi a vivere meglio questa nostra esistenza.

Very beautiful and technically brilliant most of the time but whoever bought those dozens of hideous polyester hairpieces ought to be made to wear them 😅 Still lightyears ahead of (most of) the competition, a very competent and accomplished musical direction, too. Para mi gusto, Sublime y Portentosa obra; tanto en Ballet como musicalmente, impresionante viaje del Alma humana, pasando por las vicisitudes de la vida cotidiana, hasta el trágico momento de la muerte, a pesar del dulce corazón y el despertar grandioso del Espíritu a través del amor sublime con el Creador, tal destino a todo ser humano a través de la Creación Infinita, repito obra Sublime.
I also like the Grimm Brothers' version of Little Red Cap a lot better with the hunter cutting open the wolf and freeing the girl and her grandmother from digestion, the girl filling his belly with stones, her grandmother sewing him back up, and the wolf drowning in the well.
I like the Charles Purrault version of Little Red Riding Hood a lot better with the woodcutter killing the wolf with an ax, saving the girl from being carried away, and freeing her grandmother from the closet.

We must warn you though, that only one of them who wins your heart will receive your hand in marriage. You'll understand when the time comes for you to choose your suitor well and wisely.

I know, what if the Fairy Godmothers wore flance clothes, if Princess Florine and the Bluebird wore bluebird clothes, if Puss In Boots and the White Cat wore cat clothes, if Briar Rose and her parents, spouse, and children wore Royal clothes, if Little Red Riding Hood wore German clothes, if the Prince's friends wore Noble clothes, if Cinderella and her Prince wore French clothes, if Birthday Guests wore birthday clothes, and if Wedding Guests wore wedding clothes?

Kinda dissapointed that the Maestro skipped the opening number of the first act (after the prologue)!
Maybe it's because of the choreographer's version, there are a ton of different versions depending on choreographers and companies...
