I’m listening to the Audiobook. It’s brilliant. Mob Boss has to be the definitive guide and modern history of the New York mafia. Truly fascinating.
Vantheman12 3 who is the narrator for the audio book?
This is a fantastic book. I read a lot of mob stuff, and this puts together a lot of pieces and provides a lot stronger arguments for the reasons some things happened the way they did, when they did, etc. Al D'Arco is very impressive in relaying the level of detail here. This and Blood Brotherhoods are easily 2 of the best mob books published in the last 30 years. My hats off to Capeci and Robbins.

In my opinion the best biography. The best info book is Five Families by Raab

The two reporters basically echo the exact same sentiments most who have interviewed other mobsters express about top level mob men. They are all very charismatic, articulate, have excellent memories, the best story tellers and overall just likeable individuals despite often haven killed several people, intimidated businesses and run illegal scams.
Psychopaths are actually very charming people when they want to be, the only issue is when they come to harm you, they can be very charming about that too...

Gaspipe made him acting boss bc he thought he'd be a puppet. Al started to show some actual leadership qualities and casso panicked. I keep saying gaspipe bc amuso was a nothing, gas owned him. End of the day, D'Arco wins, gaspipe and amuso get life in a dogcage and Al lived life for 27 years more.
Gas pipe was a dirty piece of shit! Some of these monsters, although fucking murderers, some seem reasonable. Like they could be ok guys but gas pipe is a low down disgusting evil MF’r.

Extraordinary life
I cant believe this guy has his own talk show. Most show hosts are rude and cut people off before they finish talking. This guy cuts off 2 very prominent authors 3 words after they start talking! He should have interviewed himself. What a distraction this guy was!
YEah....its...I dont even know what to think of that....its like all hosts have and over inflated sense of themselves. WHen in reality NO ONE CARE they are even breathing...we are here to hear Capeci!
Watch him interviewing Selwyn Raab, obviously another authority on organised crime, the interviewer is exactly the same with him, totally ruined it, it would've been a great interview in the hands of someone more in control of their ego.

My understanding is that if you hit a made guy and you are not one , you are automatically killed. But I read that when Anthony Gaspipe Casso was not a made man , he had an altercation with a made man when he was not one. But somehow he was given a pass. Is this true?
