100 Years of FELIX THE CAT : 027 : Felix Saves The Day (1922) Animated Cartoon

100 Years of "Felix The Cat". The First Felix Cartoon was in 1919. We'd hope JERRY BECK would help put out a big DVD Box Set of restored FELIX cartoons, but seems not. The Classic Felix was 1919 to 1930 with at least 178 cartoons, many are noted as "Lost" if many are on Pathe Film Reels still not on DVD. We've managed to get 71 from many sources so here's the 6 earliest we have from 1919-1922 with added sound from various sources. Old & Ropey but FELIX was the First Animated Hero who deserves a 100 Year anniversary. The Most Inventive Cartoon Character Ever.

Felix is the FIRST MODERN Styled Cartoon, from 1919-1929. There are many earlier pre 1919, there are 1000+ going back to 1898 but these are very hard to watch if they survive... here are some of the earliest & maybe more found since......

This is actually very cool.
Just the intro with Felix coming out of the photographed fountain pen held by I guess, Pat O Sullivan's own hand... Very cool and ahead of it's time.
Then all the other use of filmed footaged as background for characters. I'd love to know what was the methods used back then, to come up with these great results.
Also I'd like to say Just the animation itself is, I think, still relevant compared to today's animations, if just for it's use of comicbook speech bubbles in filmed animation. A nice mix of the two genders of art forms you don't see anymore today.
We've got voice acting today sure. But silent film making is a gender of film making in itself. Not just movies that are handicaped of speech. More people should realise that!
