yeah, I don't think you need to know the culture of anything to act appropriately, I think that the guy the reporter is just truly awkward individual. he's done that with men too, just socially awkward.

I agree that what Doyel did was cringe but I don’t think that it was malicious or intended in the way that people are taking it. I think that he’s socially awkward and he was trying to be enthusiastic and trying to be funny but it came across as weird.

He seemed a little tipsy the whole time he was there, not just in the interaction with Clark.
So far, CC has done nothing out of the ordinary as a professional women’s player, she doesn’t even seem like the type that craves the attention. Her teammates seem to have really taken a liking to her, and her coaches speak on her work ethic. She’s been enjoyable thus far.
It’s the fans and the media that has given this young woman an image that someone could care to “dislike”. She’s done and said nothing to make her unlikable, but people in her orbit have.
Clearly, you haven't seen her play. Her arrogance and air of entitlement are a put off. Even her father would call out her behavior during games. Her continuous arguing with referees and chastising referees is ridiculous. This is unbecoming conduct I have personally seen from Clark. Many like you have become so fanatical that you tolerate and promote a standard of "anything goes" for her. Clark's behavior and this attitude by her fanatics makes me anything but a Clark fan.
So, he made the heart sign that she apparently does? Hmmm. Response seems excessive. Press conferences and those who attend them regularly often get informal. Not so much creepy as awkward as hell. The argument you need to hire nobodies to cover the WNBA makes no sense. Bringing the name and the following brings a bigger audience. Lots of people pay attention to what he says and that creates buzz. The only reason I'm watching RUclips right now was to find out what it was he did. Even in his awkward failure, he brings you clout.

Right that sexism is an issue in the coverage of women’s sports generally, wrong to say that they threw in just “anybody” he’s the a main guy for Indy which ties to familiarity and eyeballs from readership, and it was right for him to own up to his wrong doing…it was plain weird to refer to anyone as “That”

I don't think he intended it to be creepy or was trying to be sexist. However, it was certainly a very inappropriate expression of his exuberance about her being on the team. It sounded to me like he's just another Clark fan extremist. Most of them go to far in their fanaticism of her. However, a lifetime ban is too much as well. Would anyone have mumbled a word if Clark had not been the beneficiary of is weirdness? Of course not.
@@vikb3131 I’m really wondering if it was in fact a lifetime ban vs the paper he works for not allowing him to report on the fever for this season and a 2 week suspension.. his employer not allowing him for this season to report seems a little much but still fine imo..the season is only 4/5 months

I believe that this is a clear case of feminine hypersensitivity; and not by Caitlin Clark I might add. I honestly think Mr. Doyel meant nothing sexual which I believe everyone is alluding as women get unwanted sexual advances all the time. News flash, so do male athletes, all the time. He was just caught up in Caitlin's seemingly "Midas Touch" energy and was trying to be clever. Just like most things, we react the harshest to the most innocent situations and fail to react immediately to clearly sinister and intentional acts. This is crazy.
