My Shed Pub, Hand Pulled Beer and the North South Divide

- On March 21 this year Boris shut all England,s pubs, which was the right thing to do with the virus present. I spend a lot of time in the pubs with friends and I love hand pulled beer.
So I decided to build my own pub in the shed at the top of the garden as a lockdown project, install a hand pump and enjoy the pleasures of my own hand pulled beer.
It’s so funny watching Pat get steadily more pissed as it goes on 😀😀😀
Have you seen his video where he hikes and pops into a pub or two (too many) and starts to show? Ha ha he is the man!
Yes, I watched it again last night! Pats a legend 😀😀
he is the people's pisshead
Have you got a link for that I'd love to watch it.
@@gn7740 its called Sheffield pub crawl I think
I wonder if you realise how much we love you, Pat? I've been watching your channel for years, but rarely if ever comment. Just want to say a heartfelt thank you for all your inspiring and interesting videos. I could sit and watch your videos all day, and have done! You're a good man. Cheers from a Scotsman living in Norway🍻
Well said Stuart. Pat is a top guy (even if he is a Yorkshireman lol)
i loved his pub crawl video. You could see him getting more and more drunk. Lovely bloke, i think this man can do anything, hero. When we all going for a pint?
Chris Brittain I think he said that his pub opens on the 4th of July 😜
Hm i think Pat has a problem now. Who else wants to visit that pub? It's probably a long waiting list. ;-)
A thirsty Cheers from Germany.
giso79 if you’re in Germany 🇩🇪 you’ll probably be able to see the back of the queue 😂
Feels like I’m drinking with my mates when I watch your videos
Same for me Jack, just feels like I,am sharing a few drinks with you all out there, see you later in the year..... thanks Pat
"The Kings Shed"
Nice one, thanks Pat
Thats a cracking name for it. Nobodys going to top that.
Excellent name
The shed Lion
Wasn't that the name of the pub in the 1st episode of time gentleman please with all murry
Tough for us ordinary mortals. Pat can do carpentry, upholstery, subterranean exploration, camping in trees - and owns a pub.
Pat exudes a lust for life that is an example for us all, young and old.
you forgot the electric and plumbing work for this :)
I'll drink to that! I've seen him do anything and go anywhere -and alone!
Thanks John, such kind words, thanks Pat
I think you speak for a lot of people mate. quite an inspiration & a top bloke .
Pat should be the new Dos Equis "Most Interesting Man in the World". 🍻👑🇬🇧
He was sloshed by the end - love it
It must be heavenly to sit there and hear the sound of the rain hitting the top of the roof while you’re having a quiet pint.
You have worked wonders, Mr. 🍻 👍
28:12 Only in the UK does someone drink half a pint of beer in 22 seconds (including 11 seconds of conversation in the middle) just to provide tasting notes! :-D
Love the shed pub, very well thought out and executed.
donkmeister yes we love beer in the uk.
Great micro pub, I think you should name it ‘The Lockdown Arms” all the best Pat 👍
It is a good name now, not sure in next year, thanks Pat
Or 'The Lock in Arms' 😉
The Covid Arms
The Wuhan Arms
The Pat’s Head
The Shed and Shovel
The "Ramble Inn"
Brilliant Pat ive just subscribed, Cheers from a flat capper in Featherstone..
This looks like a pub with vintage. Anyone who remembers pre cigarette ban pubs will know what kind mean. Nice work .
@NAB 88 yes I can still smell the carpets of these places !
Yes I love it
Most pubs where I live still look like this
I hope he allows smoking inside
A proper pub with character 👍
A true gentleman of the highest order & intellect,Fine business old bean and we raise a glass to you kind sir.
Thanks and very kind words, all the best Pat
"Pat!! Why are you so drunk?"
"Jus makin' nutherr vidzeoo forra guysh - hic!"
This is so amazing, can't believe how much it looks like a proper English pub - did a fantastic job!
A bit late I know, but thanks Emma.....Pat
Further proof if ever it was needed that Patrick is a bloody legend👏👏
Thanks Marty
Pats never shouted last orders.......Hic Hic .....👍🇮🇲. Mega project.....love it👍💕
Pat, thank you. It’s the best wee pub in Britain. I could stay in there for hours.
Thanks James, certainly difficult to get out once your in, thanks Pat
"There you are sir, that'll be £5.80" hahahaha brilliant Pat!
It's true as well Ian, a right rip off, thanks Pat
It's 5.80 plus for a pint of lager over here in Dublin I build a bar and seating area out of old pallets just bottles and cans at the moment will be getting bump in soon 🍺🍺🍺😷😷
Love the pub shed mate. Real top job 👌 6 pints in a 40 min video is good going aswell 🤣🍻
Stop it Lee, I have tears of laughter running down my cheeks already.
Sometimes a man's got to do, what a man's got to do, thanks Pat
@@harrowtiger 😆😂😂
Wtf I have 1 or maybe 2 In that time , if I had six u would probably pass out within seconds 😂
That was a brilliant vid Patrick I couldn't stop chuckling how passionate you became about pulling a pint, more so after each pint lol!, you have reminded me that the simple pleasures in life are the best kind, Thankyou 😊
Yes, might only be a pint of beer, but I pulled it, and created that nice creamy head, beautiful, thanks Pat
This came up in my list. I'm watching a man in his old pub drinking a beer 🍺 🤣
Oh my word that is brilliant! "Its only 2 o'clock! " what a legend !
Prefer The Wellington, but have had a few pints in both.
4:46 jesus wept Patrick, that's brilliant, well done, I'm now inspired to convert my shed :)
You could call it "The Mystery With Inn"
Nice name, and nice comments, thanks Pat
Good name that 🤣
I loved how the tour of the facilities just slowly meandered for the last 10 minutes to just discussing the beer.
That's basically what it's all about, beer, thanks Pat
Seeing a pint o hand pulled beer is literally making me foam at the mouth because it feels like a long time since I had the pleasure. It's a lovely cozy little pub, full credit to you Pat 👍
Can,t beat a nice smooth pint of northern ale, thanks Pat
@@patrickdickinson6492 absolutely mate
Bloody love this video..! Love how merry Pat gets the more the vid goes on ..! Brilliant ...!
That's alcohol for you!
Thanks Simon
I stumbled on this by accident and I'm so glad I did. I started smiling within the first minute of it starting. Pat, you are a legend. Good for you mate.
That northern pint looks a million times better 😍
Pat, once again you have shown your true dedication to the cause. Well done that man!
Thanks, dedicated to drinking beer, haha, all the best Pat
Hi Pat, I wouldn't worry about the "shelf life" of the beer.....I think its safe to say it won't see it!!!!!
While I'm here I might as well have another 😂😂😂
It will it’s in a fridge it lasts longer then beer at the pub in a keg that has to be used in a week that beer pay has can be kept in the fridge for up to a year
@@urban_fox_cub_urbex Mine lasts a lot longer than a week at my home bar
Just found out about Pat today and i already want to have a pint with him. Legend. 🍺
Exactly the style I'm going for when I convert the garage. True english pub style. Great work!
Glad you like it!.....best thing I have ever built....thanks Pat
@@patrickdickinson6492 thanks for the reply pat! It's really awesome. Wish I was as handy as you. I'll be learning as I go! 👍👍:-)
What a legend. Odd how without intending to, this guy can make you feel better during hard times. I miss the North
Thanks Alex, if your feeling happier, after looking at my videos, then that,s a success, thanks Pat
Cheers from North Carolina. Had to have a beer with you while I was watching. Quite entertaining and inspiring. Stay safe!
What a genius. You have created a masterpiece.
Love the pessimism that's immediately followed by optimism at 36:18. Pat, you're a treasure.
Got to look on the bright side Jack, all the time...... thanks Pat
Never a dull moment watching Patrick get pissed ;)
Nice comments, all the best Pat

What a true legend .never fail to surprise me. Impressive knowledge of pubs !
Yes it's been a life long love affair with pubs, thanks Pat
Love it. I want one. A good old British pub in the back garden you can't beat it. I'd be in there with my guitar and a few mates getting pissed and having a right old shindig. Well done pal.
Thanks Ricky, great place to go to, at the top of the garden, thanks Pat
Pat, that is so much more than "just a hut" and you have definitely created a work of art. So much respect for your efforts on the pursuit of the perfect lock down pint...."southerners say we bash the natural carbonation out the beer" then uses a half glass not to waste a full pint 😂
Everards Tiger. My favourite drink in Leicester while going to Filbert Street with a mate (he a Fox, me a Mariner GTFC).........my mate is dead now, but the beer memories live on 👍
First time I've been in a real pub in years... good beer, and better company. Cheers!
Thanks, that is exacly what I wanted it to look like, and it feels so nice in there, very cozy, thanks Pat
Well that's absolutely fantastic! Gary Barlow's dad, you are a legend.
Makes a change, I,am usuaslly compared to Compo......thanks Pat
I haven't had a drink for getting on for twenty years now as I am a train driver and it doesn't go with the job. Nonetheless, seeing that pint at the start was very tempting...lol Good to know you are keeping your sanity Pat.
Funny enough, I'm one of them too, and it doesn't stop me. I took delivery on Friday last of 20 litres of ale from a local micro, ,,,, I'm furloughed so can imbibe at will, but even when not, pick your times carefully and no problem. Back in the pre 92 BR days, many a shift was a boozy one, some some spare turns were 8 hours in the boozer!
@@laszlofyre845 Yeah I was one o' them for just over 40 years. I am Laszlo Fire's better looking, talented and wealthy twin. B, if you think the job and beer are mutually exclusive, 'tis a good job you were'nt on it pre-'92 , or whenever it was . The job ran on ale. Funnily enough , you're the first driver I've ever heard cite the job as the reason for abstinence. It need not be ,as our kid has just said. By crikey , if you met some of the footplate crowd up here, you'd have the scales fall from your eyes !!! Resistance is futile, moderation is true temperence, got get a pint. You've earned it. Mind how yer go , Brother. Just an aside.....my brewing alter-ego , is "Bang Road Brewery".
Fair play to you Bib
@@haroldhorseposture9435 A retired railwayman told me how up 'till '92 the railway ran on beer. There was even a staff pub under the platforms at Manchester Victoria. After '92, if you were caught so much as in charge of a photo copier after having a drink it was a sacking offence! Fred Dibna remembered a pub in Bolton that had a metal ladder up from the pub yard to the railway viaduct above. Many a time you'd see a couple of guys down a few piunts then climb the ladder to a simmering 8F, and drive a freight train over the Pennines.
You can't drink because your a train driver? What about your days off
You made me laugh Pat when you opened the Bar door. You made me cry tears of laughter when you kept knocking down pint after pint Pat telling the story of your pub. Greetings from BONBEACH Victoria Melbourne Australia to you Pat.
Pat, the late great Fred Dibnah has always been a hero of mine..Nobody has ever come close to him....That is until I happened across your RUclips vlogs....You sir are a Yorkshire legend...This vlog is superbly entertaining..by eckers ya can knock an back lad...keep ya vlogs coming m8 we enjoy ever single one of em in our house.😎👍cheers.
🤣 "it's only 2 o'clock" he says as he pours his 6th pint. Good on you Pat, the pub looks great.
Thanks Luke
Pat was it a longer walk home than usual. lol Absolutely brilliant.
Alan Hunter He didn’t make it home 😜
Nope the usual 20 meter stroll, thanks Pat
I would be lucky to find my house.
Absolutely fantastic Pat. I had to make it interactive and have a drink with you 😂. Great entertainment. All the best from a Rawmarsh lad. Gareth
We drink with our eyes first... love it!
Most definitely, if it looks nice, it usually tastes nice, thanks Pat
Brilliant Pat !
You have made me very homesick for Yorkshire (been in Australia for 30 years), I never realised why a northern pint was better until now!
Thank you
Hi Andy, yes northern pint always been the best, although they are getting better.
All are pubs are shut in Sheffield due to Corona virus precautions, mine is the only one open, haha all the best for 2021, thanks Pat
What about calling it the “bat and pangolin”
Hahahahah excellent!
Let no man, or government, come between an Englishman and his pint.
Cheers Pat mate, brilliant video, love the Pub. Jack.
Thanks Jack, lovely pint in there this afternoon, thanks Pat
Reminds me of an old pub I lived in as a kid , I had to bottle up before school , my parents pub is well gone now , but pats pub is a fantastic bit of nostalgia,, you could call it the Gardeners arms ,, top man and you’ve done a top job pat
Thanks, I wanted it to look like a 1940/50,s pub and pleased with how it looks, added a few more bits now, all the best Pat
Patrick Dickinson ,,, unfortunately I’m not that old ,, I’m a 70s kid wen I was in the pub , but it was a pre 1910 building and was more or less the same as it was then , so you hit the nail on the head pal ,,
It's got to be called Down the Drain
“Down the Drone”
Good one, thanks Pat
Best video so far Pat, made me laugh so much. Love the pub, but you want to get rid of the lawn mower next door and install a urinal 😂
Nót a bad idea that Nick
I love that pub. It's given me more incentive to build one now. Thanks for sharing Pat. You're a good'un. 👌
Thanks for that, it's a lot of work, but worth it for the end result, all the best Pat
"From down south to down north". Definitely one too many half pints by that point Pat! ;) Fantastic project, and a great pleasure to watch. Very best wishes to you, and keep the videos coming! As always, I thoroughly look forward to your next adventure...
I bet you enjoy pulling yourself in that shed. Seriously though, well done.
Put a Guinness fountain and you'll have here a loyal customer! :-) :-) :-)
Cozy corner, btw. Nice job, Pat. Regards!
@Jonas Candies But when processed it turns ale :^)
I like the blonde's, Guinness is not for me, sorry, thanks Pat
Black ales matter ✊🏿
Absolutely brilliant, made me realise how much I've missed a hand pulled pint (with a proper head) thanks for posting Patrick.
Your very welcome Andrew, nothing like the smooth taste of a hand pulled pint, just beautiful, thanks Pat
Got to watch this again and count how many pints you have had. Best lockdown project by far!!
Thanks Stephen, quite a few, and a couple of re-takes...... all the best Pat
This is my next project as I also need a office too. So all I would say is get yourself some scampi fries and some DD nuts
DD nuts, remember them well, thanks Pat
I like 'The Pub With No Name'. Keep it as that 👍
This is phenomenal!
I had a similar idea but unfortunately I'm married with a child. And I'm married. Plus there's the wife.
LOL dont let that stop you mate!
This is so Patrick. Love it! 😀
I absolutely love this Pat, thank you for living the way you do .
Thanks, loving this retirement, thanks Pat
Absolutely brilliant cheers
The more I watch the more I like.
Thanks Lucy, the more I drink the more I want, I,am a wild camper that easyly gets led astray, all the best Pat
This is great! It looks so cosy.
If your stick mirrors on the backboard of the bar, it will give the illusion of the pub looking bigger! Love the man cave pub
Yes thanks for that, I,am looking into it, thanks Pat
Heee Heee Absolute fantastic proper shed envy now! Good on you Patrick a man after mi own heart!!
Thanks Roy, such a nice place to call at in the morning, in the afternoon, and after tea, haha,....... all the best Pat

Thanks, have loved building it, really helped me get through lockdown, all the best Pat
Hi Pat. I haven't watched a video of yours in a long time. I had forgotten about the good company you were during covid, it was nice having a pint with you. Watching your videos again feels quite nostalgic four years on from the first lockdown. All the best, Noel from Dublin
Nice to hear from you Noel, just love these short trips, will be back in the pub shed next video....... all the best Pat
That sir, is AMAZING 👌
Great to hear from you again Patrick. A masterclass in beer and the north / south divide. Loving the pub.
You are a man of many talents! You never fail to amaze me. Hope you are keeping well and your family. Thank you for the tour.
Thanks Pat, always good to see one of your videos come up. Excellent home pub!
