My husband passed away at out holiday home back in 2017. The air ambulance came but couldn't save him. Our site purchased a defibrillator because the also couldn't get assistance as its a campsite and fishing lake. Its very sad but my holiday home is my sanctuary and I'm going to it for a few days tomorrow. Life is very short. Love your podcasts keep up the good work
Wear the socks, eat off the plates, drink from the glasses & knit the yarn. My Mum saved the socks I knitted for her. When her dementia advanced she decided to give them back to me. Thankfully I was able to give them to some very knitworthy ladies who also knew my Mum.
I think it would be wonderful if you had a gardening and cooking channel. I would definitely love it! I’m always looking for new ways to garden and new recipes. A big hug to you and your Ma. I received gifts from my children that are so precious and touch my heart so much I can’t use them. It is a sign how much she deeply cares for you.❤️ I hope have a wonderful week Kelly💕
Oh my Kelly, your socks are all adorable. Best socks ever. Wish I could do a picot edging cuff! I am new to sock making (basic plain socks) and love your yarn so much. You are an inspiration. 😘xx
An allotment channel would be lovely to watch- especially a new plot that you are starting from scratch! Great idea then please show us how you preserve your fruit etc. Lovely chat today Kelly especially your lovely one skein socks and projects xx
I say buy all the dresses!!! I can't remember the last time I had clothes that fit well enough to make me happy!! Yay You!! I completely understand your Mom not wanting to wear the beautiful socks you made, I have saved so many things for so many years and your Mom's story is a lesson for us all!!! We need to enjoy in the present and not save for "special" occasions!! I am looking forward to the KAL and I hope your raffle will be wildly successful and you will be able to purchase the defibrillator SOON!! I would most definitely enjoy a gardening vlog!! Another opportunity to spend time with you!!
Lovely calm and relaxing time in my day spent with you Kelly. I just wash socks, wrap in a towel to get rid of excess water and spread them out to shape on another towel to dry. This makes them very neat while keeping the shape of the cuff and the size. I will look in my box of “special yarn” and make something worthy of it. ❤
Hi Kelly, lovely to find another English podcaster. Love the socks, I totally agree with sock blocking, I don’t do it anymore as I has the same issue as you did. Have a great week ❤❤❤
🥰❤️ Beautiful Kelly!! Your dress is BEAUTIFUL!!! I do believe in a little splurge every now & then, especially when it makes you feel confident & comfortable. 😁 Your hand made sock collection is exquisite - so beautiful. The yarns and patterns are gorgeous and I think I would struggle to wear socks that pretty, as well!! But I agree with you - WEAR the socks, use the pretty yarn, and live life fully! 🎉 Lovely update & lovely to see you!!!🥰💕
September 1st 2021 my John had a heart attack which then went into a cardiac arrest. I had to perform CPR and luckily my friend had brought up the village defib. Between the two actions he’s still here. Both my hairdresser and the next village now have defibs because they knew it helped save his life. He”s just had his 3rd Rebirthday 😊 You could always sell on some of your socks to raise more funds too.
Beautiful socks Kelly, definitely an older generation thing to save for best, I’m in my mid 60’s and do exactly the same, yet my daughters in their early thirties are complete opposites, they buy a new item and wear it the same or next day, I like to look at my new things and decide when and where I’m going to wear them. Brilliant fundraising idea will definitely buy some tickets. I’m all here for an allotment channel, I’ve just started my growing journey but with very mixed results especially this year so would be keen to follow along 🥰
Your dress is gorgeous on you! It would go with so many of your beautiful shawl you’ve made over the years. I Can’t wait to watch the rest of the show.❤️
❤❤ahhh,,Kelly,,,that was lovely,,🎉🎉the story of special skeins,,,!!! Definitely joining in for the Mal,,,,,!!! Love socks and one skein shawls,,, Sorry about ur neighbor!!very sad,,, Take care Elaine💞💗🏠🏠
Bonjour Kelly! What an emotional story and so full of wisdom too … hope that you continue enjoying all the beauty offered by autumn! Great make along which will no doubt, inspire !
Your story has me in tears, Kelly. My Mom rarely wore what I knitted for her because she treasured it all. I did knit and felt a large flamingo that she often hugged and that always made me smile. Now that she’s gone, I have the perfectly preserved socks and shawls and gloves and wear them now and feel like she’s giving me a hug somehow. Congrats on the new allotment! If Nick builds new structures for it, I’d love to see how he builds them!
Hello dear Kelly- I was touched by your Mum’s story- my precious Mum had a set of silver soup spoons still in their box covered in cellophane that were a wedding present more than 50 years later!! Mum and Dad grew up during the Depression and I think that old habits stayed with them 😊 your fund raising idea is great and will mean so much to your holiday park ❤
I so enjoyed watching you kept me company while washing up after my family had tea with me I felt like you was with me chatting while I cleared away I live on my own with my lovely dog so nice to have company 🥰😘
How sweet of your mum to still have most of the socks unworn and it reminds me of keeping clothes for best and then best doesn’t happen and we don’t wear them. A separate channel showing your gardening and cooking would be wonderful 😊
I can understand your excitement for a polytunnel. I love mine it is my happy place! I have just discovered your channel as I try and knit my 2nd pair of socks ❤
Ooh now you are talking my language! What size tunnel do you have please and are you able to grow most of the year. Enjoy your socks, your feet will be forever grateful. X
@@layfamilyyarn ours is 36ft by 18 . I can grow all year round and I have a peach tree in there too. Lots of different tomatoes, melons, early broad beans and peas were special this year , I still have beetroot and brassicas growing and am still picking 🍅 tomatoes!
@@sharonmorris924 wow that’s amazing! We are planning a lemon and peach tree, as well as melons, aubergine, toms etc yours in massive. We are going 14ft x 25ft. X
Bought a ticket fingers crossed it’s a good cause we have a caravan at parkdean in Eyemouth and I noticed we have a defibrillator outside the club house
Oh I can fully understand where your mum was coming from as my mum was exactly the same. Although she did start wearing things I had knit her but wore mostly the shawl my daughter had made for her. I did knit her a Christmas blanket out of red and white squares and she used that on her bed every day. You can wear the socks you lovingly knit for your mum and enjoy the love shared between you both. We are three generations living together and had four before my mum passed at 91. Bought a raffle ticket as it is such a great cause. Lovely seeing you again and yes please, two vlogs would be fabaroo. ❤
It’s always so, so lovely to see you popping up with a video Kelly, you’re just so full of loveliness! I’m so sorry to hear about your Happy Van neighbour and just hope she had been happy there too, great idea to raise funds for a defibrillator. Sorry not to see sweet Geoff. Take care Kelly. Xx
It was lovely to hear how LayFamily yarns started. My daughter says she always remembers me telling her about a stationary set I had as a child, it was so special I never used it until years passed and it was all curled up and faded. Now we say ‘every day is best’ and use the things(though that’s not to say I don’t have a few special skeins I need to celebrate and knit!) how exciting about the polytunnel, dream come true xx
Loved your podcast! Bought 5 raffle tickets today! Such a great reason for a fundraiser, to save lives!❤️❤️ I will definitely join the make along! I have lots of special skeins! Several from Lay Family yarn!
Hi Kelly another lovely and heartwarming episode. You always leave me feeling that little bit happier❤. I would love yo watch your allotment progress. Living in Egypt I miss the green and growing your own veg etc. Good luck with the raffle, you always help such hood causes❤
I'd love to see your allotments growing and developing. So exciting to have your own polytunnel too. My parents weren't keen gardeners. Just kept it neat I suppose. So I didn't start gardening until I had my own house. It's good for body and soul!
I had already bought my raffle ticket(s) before watching you. Oh you have made some really lovely socks. I have made more this year than the usual 1 or 2 pairs and have them saved ready for December when I will have lots of new ones to wear. My neighbour has an allotment and says this year has been awful because of the weather. We have had lots of pepper and tomatoes from our greenhouse but not many pears or plums from the trees. Have a wonderful week x
Lovely to hear about your new garden plot. If you are going to start a second channel, do let us know, but I'm pretty sure you will find 90% of your people are then on both channels :) I feel like "Kelly" is what draws us in, regardless of what you are sharing, but I do see how it would be simpler just to keep things separate. Quick question about the special skeins KAL/MAL...can I weave something with my special skein, or is it knitting only for this one?
Hi Kelly I love your beautiful box of socks and yes I understand why your Mum couldn’t bring herself to wear them❤ but it’s a shame to hide them away 😊 Just bought some raffle tickets good luck to everyone I hope you raise lots of money for your defibrillator xx

Hello Natalie, your kind words always touch me, thank you. You weave away my friend, we have no bias here. Just enjoy the yarn and the process x
How do you make chutney?
Kelly I couldn't find anywhere to leave my details in the raffle 🤔
It would just be the usual shipping and email address that you would log in with. Nothing more than that x
Hi Kelly I love your beautiful box of socks and yes I understand why your Mum couldn’t bring herself to wear them❤ but it’s a shame to hide them away 😊
Just bought some raffle tickets good luck to everyone I hope you raise lots of money for your defibrillator xx
