I looked into getting one of the small electric power shovels or corded electric single stage blowers for my patio area and sidewalks but they want to much for what you get in my opinion. Then I found people will sell their two stage blowers fairly cheap because they don't want to mess with the repairs (which is mainly cleaning the carb from being stored all summer with old gas in them) which is what I like to do anyway. Now I have three of them waiting for it to snow. I figured I'll try all three and keep the best one, then sell the other two!
I agree. Even though I got this power shovel at a reduced price (from $500 to $300 Canadian), these cordless battery powered machines are (still) very expensive. Especially the Toro ones. I can't count how many times I've seen people throw away their mowers/blowers because of just an old gas issues... Let me know which machine you'll keep. Maybe a good idea to keep two, one as a backup. ☕
Now this is a nice uncut raw footage 👌🏾 👏🏾.. I like . I have a one car drive way well it can fit to the long way .. just wide enough for a single car .. this looks like it will do ..
After watching your snowmaster 824 videos. I would be using that right now it would cut the time to one third it would take using that.. It looks like it works okay but it looks like it's too small to really make a dent..
I don't see anyone here on line demonstrates these power shovels on actual driveway in real time. Most videos are all hype, incomplete or they just tell you how great this unit it without actually showing it, just a few clips here and there (I hate that).... By doing this video, I thought this is a great opportunity to help people see what this unit can actually do (or not do)... decides for themselves. You're correct and I would agree, the 12 inch is too small to tackle driveway this size. This machine is best use on decks and walkways, not ideal for area this size.
The problem with using a big two stage is that you can upset your neighbors by using it really early in the morning or late at night. This is nice for snowfalls where you don’t really need something that big or need to clean snow at times where making a lot of noise isn’t advisable.
Subscribed. how do you park your vehicle when you come to someone's place to remove snow? I think it's easier at night because there's no traffic. do you calculate according to the thickness of the snow or according to the time.. it is really interesting to watch your snow videos.
Zoba, Hello and thanks. If i had to park my vehicle it would be just by the (street) curb. I never had any problem with the city plow truck since I'm always the first guy out there during or after the storm. When it comes to "calculating the snow $ervice" or how i charge clients, I look at the number of (snow) events. Hope that makes sense. ☕
❤WOW, that little broom did a pretty good job. Where/when do you use it over your SnowMaster? I am getting my SnowMaster delivered tomorrow, thanks for those videos. I apologize for asking this question at this video, but I don’t believe the SM has a gas shut off valve. I always shut gas and run the carb dry on my machines. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Hey, Michael, I'm very happy and excited for you. Lol. I use the power broom when I need to do people's driveways at 3 am ! Very peaceful. You're right. The Snowmaster doesn't have a gas shut-off valve. But it's easy to install one, and I'm sure you won't have any problem installing one.... Let me know if you need the size of the tube. Someone emailed me that information along with the kit he ordered online. ☕️
@@OldLenn I apologize since I don’t intend being a pain in the butt. I just came up from my 824QXE and it’s fine. Moving forward, backwards, turns on a dime. I have no idea why when I first wrote that it would not roll backwards, just locked the wheels. Maybe I accidentally had the personal pace pushed forward???????? Just don’t know, but it’s fine for sure. I greatly will appreciate the info, anything and as much as possible, to install a gas shut off valve. Tube size and if any parts, etc. are known they will be very useful. Thanks for everything, every time.
Great job my friend!! I have an EGO 2 stage but this thing really works well. it looks lighter than i thought it would be....i just assumed it would be top heavy but you handled it perfectly. Idk if it would go as smooth on my bumpy driveway with cracks but all in all it clears it right down to the pavement. How has your experience been with the nightmares we some times get at the end of the driveway after the plows have been through? Thanks so much !!
Hello friend and thank you. The Toro 60v power shovel's weight is around 50 lbs if I'm not mistaken. Majority of its weight is in the front where it helps clear snow right down to the pavement. With its battery attached, I feel the whole unit is decently balanced. Its a well designed machine. I just wish the battery last a bit longer. I have the 2.5 AH that comes with it, and my average use is around 40 min. In my opinion, this unit is best use for decks and walkways only. Though it will tackle the snow at the end of your driveway with no problem (this unit is perfect for slush snow as well). I dont know too much about battery powered outdoor machines, but I do hear a lot of good things about the EGO products lately. 👍🏼
Seems like it could handle even a big snow storm if you took it 6 inches at a time. Also, I don't know how tall you are, but other videos I've seen show people bent half way over trying to push it. You seemed to be more or less standing up straight. Noticed you weren't using the handle holding it by the battery and just below the battery on the shaft. I'm 5' 10" with a bad back and 79 years old. Bending way over is out of the question. I'm interested in it because I only want it for a few steps and some walkways and just in front of the garage doors so the snow plow guy get the rest. Thanks for any response.
Hello and thanks for watching. Without boots, I'm 5'8". This little machine can handle wet heavy snow, really well. The handling technique(s) you see me doing in the video is (in my humble opinion) is the best way when pushing or going forward (easy on my stiff/tired back). I do close to 30 residential snow removal every winter season. ..... important to consider the weight of its front (head).. it is somewhere close to 40+ lbs. I drag it after pushing it forward to save my back. It works well for me this way. ☕️
I've watched a lot of videos on this machine and noticed that most of them complained about the weight. I'd then wonder why they didn't do what you did and just drag it back to the next start point. Instead they'd carry it back. Made no sense to me. Wish Toro could find a way to put little wheels on it.
@bogbel1 maybe in the future, wheels are possible. Check the other brands, too.. I heard some company (not sure if its the Ego brand) they added a new feature where they can (slightly) move the vents a few degrees to control where they throw the snow.. I hope what I said makes sense.
Saw a youtube video showing the vents on the EGO. Didn't impress me. Also found out Ryobi makes a snow shovel with wheels. Weird looking machine with an off set shaft and comes with two different handles. It's only 40 volts.
The best month for these throwers/blowers go on sale or maybe get a good (from a dealer) is during September. I believe I got this for $300 Canadian. Price during that time was an even $500. Mine came already with a charger and 1 (2.5aH) battt.
...oh and heavy snow? This thing will have no problem. If it's really heavy/wet.. you can use your body weight, set it on #2 and it will go. You won't get disappointed by the quality build and its performance. But, for me, it's still expensive imo.
Wouldn't it have been easier if you choose to use that power shovel If you want the entire length of the driveway turned around went up the driveway, then down the driveway. Looks like you're adding a lot of time by walking backwards a lot and you don't need to. You're the professional I'm just curious why you do it that way.. It looks like it's wasting more time. And like I've mentioned your snowmaster 824 would have did all this in about 5 or 10 minutes max
You can do that... but it won't be as "clean" as you see in the video. I try to limit my walk no more than 15-20 feet. Any farther than you may/will have to retrace it, which is fine sometimes if they'll all melt later anyway..... Hope that makes sense.
@@OldLenn I've lived in Okla. most of my life. Most winters the snow doesn't get any deeper than what you had in the video. The electric part is so much less work.
@@lolbr-tn6kq I didn't know Oklahoma has winter. But I'm not surprised... I think this power shovel would be perfect for you. But try and shop other brands. @@OldLenn yup, we've had two snow storms this year. We always get ice before the snow & if you don't get the snow off the ice it will be there for a week. My square nose shovel takes a little time but it gets the job done. When I saw you & your shovel I had to have one.
This guy must love to do tedious back breaking work if he says this doesn’t replace the traditional shovel. Every other review I’ve seen said it’s 1,000 times easier than shoveling manually.
Great demo! Thanks 😊
