Hey doc, let me explain my situation, The moment happend right after her period was over ( it happened night between 27. and 28., start of her period was 23.) I thought i havent done anything, but to be sure i gave my partner pill "Escapel" after about 60h (she took 2 pills, i know it can get dangerous). 9 days after, she started bleeding. is there any chance baby could happen? I took a plan b (Take Action) in the beginning of the month on the 5th, had 4 days of heavy bleeding. I am around 4 days late at the moment. Ive taken tests all negative.

I took the plan b pill 4 weeks postpartum. I didn’t even get my first period yet since having my baby. 4 days after I took the plan b pill, I started bleeding heavily. The bleeding went on for 6 almost 7 days as if there was a period. I am not bleeding anymore but I feel like complete crap physically which makes me question if im pregnant . I wonder if the plan b made me have my period early. What do you think?

The pill can bring your period early or make it late.
But it can also cause bleeding unrelated to your period.
Given that most women will have their first period 4-6 weeks after baby, it’s possible this was your period.
There’s no way to say if you are pregnant without doing a test - your tiredness could be from your recent pregnancy/ birth too.

Right now am having bleeding that started a week after taking morning pill, started from 5sept this month and I don't know when it will stop but I generally do my normal menses around 17-25,it was my first time taking the pill.its a relief if this is just a side other than the other underlying health condition.otherwise you have exactly explained what's happening to me.iI find this helpful.

Hi doc, I took 2 of the postinor pill one the 17th of April got my period on the 25th of April
the 2nd pill I took was on the 2nd of may and on the 13th of may I started spotting rusty brown I am now currently spotting continuously for 5 days.

I took the pill dec 22nd- two days before predicted ovulating cycle. I started bleeding the dec 28th.. it’s day 9 and i’m still bleeding heavy as if I was on day 2 of my cycle. no sign of slowing. if I didn’t take a plan b my next cycle should have started jan 7th.. it’s been 9 days of bleeding and cramping and i’m worried something might be wrong. there’s no way I could be pregnant right?

Pregnancy seems unlikely if you took the pill before ovulation.

If the bleeding is getting heavier or you also have pain, you should your doctor to check there’s no other cause.
I usually recommend a pregnancy test 2-3 weeks after you had sex as you can’t rely on bleeding to tell you if the pill worked or not.

Thank you so much for the information, Madame. I would like to ask, I took morning after pill (Trust, yuzpe method) within 24 hrs after an unprotected intercourse. 10 days later, I started to see a sticky mucus with reddish to brownish vaginal discharge every time I wiped mine with a tissue. Took the emergency contraceptive pill on 2nd of August and the sex was actually on 1st of August(just 2 days after her last period). Albeit the pill was taken less than 24 hours though. Started bleeding after 5 days and bled for about 6 days. after that bleeding, no period came till date. Is that a sign she is pregnant?

Taking the pill soon after sex is a very good chance it will work so long as she's not ovulated already. Please get a pregnancy test 2-3 weeks after sex. All the best!

Doc, so you mean EC pill should be intake twice? after unprotected and before ovulation? What if from day6 unprotected sex occurs and few hrs later the pill was intake with between 12hrs regimen, youre saying that on the day before day 11-14, the pill should be take in again?

You take the pill once - as soon as possible after unprotected s. It is most likely to work best if you took it in before you ovulated.

Hello, thanks for watching! Even when taken as usual, it has an effectiveness rate of around 85%. For pills like postinor, post pill, take action etc which contain levonorgestrel, they may not work so well if they are taken on the day of ovulation or very close to that date. Also, you can't be ceryain of which time you ovulate, and the apps or dates just provide estimates. There is no way to tell the pill has not worked till you get your next period, so you will have to keep an eye on this. There is a chance that it has worked though, so it's better than taking nothing. Best Wishes

I took plan b and spotted 9 days, and then had a heavy period, for 5 days, and a little spotting after that. But not pregnant. Just side effects! My cycle is pretty messed up from taking it though 😭
Aww, but yes, these are some of the downsides from taking the emergency pill.
Your cycle will return to normal.
But you might want to think about a regular form of contraception or a condom so you don't use the emergency pill more often than recommended. Thanks for watching and commenting.

The bleeding from 16th Jan could be either - early period or a pill side effect though the first is probably more likely.
We can’t often tell which because your period can be affected by the time in your cycle that you took the pill - you can learn this from my latest video - ruclips.net/video/_ETMM18KTj8/видео.html
Also, though we expect the pill to cause bleeding in between periods that is light, or spotting lasting a short while, it could be heavier/ longer.
Please keep an eye on it - if there are any other changes like pain, or heavier bleeding do a pregnancy test and speak to your doctor.

Hi Callisa, thanks for watching the video! You used the word clotting which I would love to clarify what you mean. Spotting or losing a little amount of blood after taking Plan B is common as it's the effect of the hormone on womb tissue. It should not be heavy enough to cause blood clots. The amount of bleeding does not specifically tell us about whether or not you are pregnant, though! You can take the pill correctly and have bleeding or no bleeding. So that's not a reliable sign. Bleeding can be a side effect of the pill, or from implantation of pregnancy or a symptom of an infection.
Please do a pregnancy test and contact your health care provider if you are passing clots or having heavy bleeding. Best Wishes

I took plan b and 11 days after I had a light brown discharge that resembled light brown blood like when I get my period for the first time . but it was only that one time when I used the bathroom & it went away . Is that normal ? :(
Hi Ileana it can be a side effect of the pill as I explained on the video -you may have a bleed as a pill side effect but it can also affect your period.
So keep watching for any more bleeding and do a pregnancy test if your period is delayed more than 7 days. Thanks

If you took the pill a few days before ovulation, and as soon as possible after sex; there is a good chance pregnancy is prevented.
There is no way you can tell till your next period; or a pregnancy test - which will only be useful around 3 weeks after intercourse.

Hi Doc! I had a normal period from August 4-7th. I had unprotected sex on August 11th and didn’t take the plan b pill until August 12th at noon. I didnt bleed in between time but when my cycle did come which was on Sept 1st, I spotted with dark blood for 2 days only on and off. I have taken a pregnancy test which is negative. Is this normal? I am experiencing the same too, I started having Brown discharge 2 hours of taking it and I am still experiencing it until now ( for about 13days ) could it be implantation bleeding or side effects of the pill?
Its difficult to tell at this stage as your symptoms could indicate either of them. Doing a pregnancy test 2/3 weeks after taking the pill should be the next step.
Thanks doc,my issue is kinder challenging,I got my periods and when I was close to my dangerous days,I had intercourse with my fiancee and got a pill for that matter. Hi, the bleeding you had may have been an early period. The pill can affect the next period date.
Please try not to worry but repeat the test again after 1 week.

I think a lot of us feel that when there’s some bleeding after the pill it’s definitely worked- but this might not be the case.

5/6 days after sex is likely too early for an implantation bleed. In addition, you had sex just after your period so probably very early in the fertile window; and took the pill as directed both of which reduce the risk of pregnancy.
I think this rust coloured spotting is likely a pill side effect.
However, please do a pregnancy test if you have not experienced your next period at the scheduled time.
Remember, the pill could also affect when the next period arrives.

Ok so I catch my period on the 29 going into the new month so on the 9 I took a plan b one step then on the 12 I took another one because it happened again so on the 17th I started bleeding lasted same time as a regular period no cramps tho and I threw up that week the next week I throw up again I’m scared and when should I expect my next period on the same day it was supposed to come ? If so would that be weird because that would make it 3 times in a month I had my period?
Hi Kayla, I hope you’re feeling better. Your period can be a little late or early after the plan B.
We can’t really predict it; so the best is to do a pregnancy test if the period is 1 week later than the due/expected date.

In my experience, it's good to use protection at ANY time, but the first one or two days after the period in MOST women is when they are less likely to get pregnant - (this could be different for those with short cycles and long periods, please note). But you took the pill which helps reduce pregnancy risk even more.
I don't think you should worry as the bleeding effects could be as I explained in the video.
As always a woman must always keep track of her cycle especially after using the pill and do a PT if the period is more than 7 days late.

I am a bit concerned I had sex on July 9 then took plan b same day then July 17 got my period came like a week late then July 22 I had sex again and I still had my period but blood wasn’t coming out anymore it already stopped but then that same day I wipe and was coming a bit blood the next day July 23 I took plan b was less than 24 hrs and well July 29 in the morning I started bleeding like my period was coming when I used the restroom I had heavy bleeding even was red not brown like if I was about to have my period even fill the pad a bit not a lot not a little. Then I started still bleeding on the July 30 but not enough to fill a pad was already stopping then stop the ends of July 30 also had cramping before I started bleeding and during also my legs hurt when my period starts and they where hurting too would it be implantation bleeding or just the side effects of the plan b?

Hello maam, So i made a mistake in sex, i wasnt sure if i did finish or not but she gave me that look so i bought plan B and 1 hour after sex she took the pill. I started bleeding days after taking Take Action and it hasn't stopped in over 2 weeks. The bleeding is heavy for 4 days and light for 3 days and starts all over again. When will it stop?
Andriea, it can be a bit difficult to predict when the periods return to normal after the pill, though with most of us things should settle within the next cycle if you don’t use more than 1 pill in that cycle or other hormones and medicines that could affect the pill.
Also, it’s good to be sure the irregular pattern is not caused by something else like an infection so please check with your Dr to chat about this a bit more and see if you need tests.

It’s not so simple to differentiate the cause of bleeding at this stage.
If you took the pill before ovulation - ruclips.net/video/wcuf2Y7uvfw/видео.html then chances are it’s worked and you are not pregnant.
The only way to tell is with a pregnancy test - you can do this as early as 2-3 weeks after you had sex.

I’ve taken it b4 yrs ago but only had cramps & spotting for a few days. This time I had sex the day after my period ended, took plan b and after a week start bleeding. It’s a bit lighter than my Normal period and no cramps (Thsnk you Jesus, I wish my regular period was like this) but anyways it’s day 4 and still bleeding. It’s giving me anxiety. I hate my periods and wanna have sex w/ my man again just not while I’m bleeding 😩 How long does the bleeding normally last?

I totally understand your concern but I don't think you should worry.
It seems most likely a pill side effect which should really last only a few days.
But this duration can vary - according to a study on average its 2-3 days but some women can bleed for 7 days which is normal, too.
I hope it settles soon, and it may help to check out my next video which comes out in about 7 hours when I'm talking about the effect of the EC pill on periods including flow/ duration etc.

The bleeding can be unpredictable after taking the pill.
Most common you have a few days (about 1 week or less) light bleeding or spotting but some women May experience it for longer.

The pill could also delay your period.
You should keep note in a diary/app the dates and colour of the bleeding.
If it’s still not stopped after another week, please see your doctor to check things - most likely though, it’s the effect from the pill.

Its possibly a side effect of the pill, but we advise ladies to do a pregnancy test 2/3 weeks after unprotected sex especially if the next period is delayed more than 7 days.
