There is no community anymore. Neighbourhoods up and down the country have been filled up with different kinds of people who hate each other. The area I grew up in the 2000s is unrecognisable today.
Indeed. I doubt this would work where I live. English are now a minority here. It's just a collection of ethnic ghettos.
@thetruth9210 Good point that. I never went to university. I did IT BTEC at college and then got a job who have funded further industry standard courses. Best decision I ever made. No debt, earning decent pay, promotion prospects etc. And I love that I didn't have to go to some other part of the country for three years and lose contact with all my friends. 🙂

You are right about 70s and 80s council estates. My Mam says exactly the same. She said they were places where everyone knew each other and everyone's kids all played out together.
That is totally alien to the country I grew up in. I was born in 2002 and grew up in Nottingham. It was already changing by then. Now, the place has changed beyond all recognition and I have since left the city all together.
That is such a shame about your sons university. I know people who have been to university and they have come back changed people. They have a totally different mindset and it is not for the better. I'm genuinely glad I never went.
@thetruth9210 I know you weren't. But I have given it anyway. 🙂 I have seen what those places have done to people who I know. Some I am no longer friends with because they came back totally different people who had nothing in common with me or my views.
It's not just the students. Lecturers and academics are just as bad and fan the flames. I'm so glad I never went. It's the debt that put me off alone.

It's concerning though that thete doesn't seem to be any interest from the young and we need that. We need to be able to interest them somehow. The candle won't burn long if it's only a short stub!

Sadly the enemy are willing to do the things we are not. For now anyway.
It feels like everyone is waiting for that something heard round the world that will unleash the pent up cries for justice and rage of the everyday man. It certainly does in my state in the US. I fear how many more lives we lose while we wait. Amd how orchestrated their next attack will be. It will be horrific and no one is willing to disclose or discuss exactly how we need to be prepared when it does happen. These people have a playbook that we have read and know. It is way past time for civility.
@tishie42 quite right. I personally thought that the manchester arena bombing incident here in the UK where loads of children were killed would be it for the UK. It was AMAZING how quickly the "don't look back in anger" quick reaction force were on scene with printed material, spokespersons, all in the name to quiet down any reaction.
I get it, but it just shows that the authorities are super aware of situation they have created in our countries and are ever ready to deploy the dampeners. All its doing is saving up trouble for later when it really does go boom. Better to take the accelerator off the situations that are being caused and reverse gear on many. But for some reason they aren't doing that.

It stinks now where I have lived for 33yrs. It used to be loved and respected, clean and looked after. Not now.

How about "A change to the current mainstream culture which is failing the country and the people who built it. A change to the sense of entitlement which too large a proportion of the population seem to have - mostly those who have not yet lived long enough to have made a meaningful contribution to the society which they bleed for their own support."
