Gavin Belson I’ve heard him tell a few of these stories in other videos and the remain consistent and connect to each other. I’m sure he exaggerates a little just like everyone, but it’s hard to keep such crazy stories straight if you were making it up.

Someone really needs to make a movie about Joey Diaz's life. He is an amazing story of having a lot of rough patches in life and still making it out on top. People should be inspired by his story. Imagine losing your mom and dad at a young age and having a drug addiction and going through a divorce and going to jail and trying to make it in Hollywood. The guy is a walking inspiration. He's motivated me to start taking my computer programming classes more seriously and put the time in it takes to get better at it. Love ya Uncle Joey.

Oftentimes research is DRY because it merely focuses on facts. Storytelling (also called "qualitative research") brings those facts to life. This is exactly what happened with this podcast - TJ English was the researcher, and Joey Diaz was the storyteller. Great duo, and very insightful conversation!

I was born and raised in Cuba and I finally learned the origin of a greeting we Cubans use regularly, its "que bola" and up untill now I never really understood why we used that greeting and it all originated with the bolita lottery system talked about on the podcast. The greeting "que bola" translates to what ball referring to the numbered balls used in the lottery. Its Fascinating awesome podcast guys!
Also Im pretty sure current generation of Cubans don't participate or have such an obsession with the lottery thing as they did in the past. I think its now a forgotten cultural practice.

or a goofy comedy about an old Cuban telling stories about his childhood in North Bergen New Jersey, and it flashes back to his crew and all the stupid bullshit they got into. Like he'll be on stage at the comedy store and he goes into a story about his first day in North Bergen when he met Carmine Balzano, then next scene he is jumping in to help his future friend in that brawl with the Irish kids lol. That would be hilarious.

@Miss She: Everything gets corrupted with time. It's the entropy of the spirit that causes ideals and morals to fall apart. To think we'll ever be free of it is short-sighted, everything that has form will return to the formless.
But I agree with you on the compassion part, everyone should attempt to be a little bit more compassionate today than they were yesterday. With sustainable permaculture setups a more integrated, symbiotic mode of global operation of all forms of life can being to evolve.
It's like the Norse myth, Ragnarok (dissolution of everything into chaos) is inevitable; but that does not mean we will not try our hardest to make the best out of what we can.
