The movie sets up so many things in the MCU that don't pay off until Endgame and it's a film that's got better with age due to what we now know.
If you haven't had a chance to check out the latest MCU films then take all the stupid with you as there will be heavy spoilers here. Smash the thumbs up if you enjoy the breakdown and don't for get to subsrcibe for videos like this each and every day.
With that out the way, thanks for clicking this, now let's get into Captain America The First Avenger.
Ok so the movie opens with an excavation in the ice that unearths Captain America. This pulls heavily from the comics and originally Cap was a character used by Timely and Atlas Comics who were the predecessors of Marvel. Cap was brought back in the 60s after he was thawed from the ice and over the years they've used this reboot device to kinda keep him a similar sort of age.
Originally he was meant to be unearthed in the Incredible Hulk during a deleted scene in which the titular character Hulk smashed some ice however they changed it up so we were introduced to this idea at the beginning of this movie.
From here we jump to Tonsberg which is a very important location in the MCU. If we look at the timeline it chronologically appeared first at the beginning of Thor when Odin fought the Frost Giants. It's next appearance was here and it showed up in Ragnarok as the place Odin went to before he died. Odin said to both of his sons 'remember this place...home' and after Asgard was destroyed, they ended up settling there in Endgame.
Red Skull arrives in his car which has a design that's based heavily on a V-16 roadster. The roadster pulls in with a focus on the hydra logo and this would later be used in animated form during What If.
Red Skull is here for the Tesseract which has appeared in a number of things. At the end of the movie we learn that Howard Stark discovers it in the ocean and learn in Endgame that they had a whole science division headed up by him centred around it. This was teased at during Iron Man 2 when Tony was going through his dads things and in one of his note books he passed a sketch of the Tesseract.
The Tesseract is based heavily on The Cosmic Cube which has appeared in a number of comics and primarily that was the thing that Red Skull sought after the most. This lead us to believe that this was the cosmic cube but as we learn throughout the saga it's simply a housing for the space stone.
Shoutouts The Canadian Lad for pointing out that when Red Skull first enters the church we can see three soldiers trying to push the tomb open where the fake tesseract is sealed.

When I received this alert, I thought the timeline restarted.
I remember when the first *"Iron Man"* came out in 2008, with more or less no expectations. Not surprising as everyone's eye was on *"The Dark Knight"* after the sad passing of Heath Ledger. Iron Man became a big hit and a enjoyable one at that. Captain America's first venture in the MCU might be overlooked more than the next two films but I like it. I think it's well underrated and am glad it's getting a well deserved re-evaluation.
Red Skull has always been one of my favorite villains. He's really scary looking and is strong as Captain America. Oh yeah, the cosmic cube is a thing in Marvel comics. Thanos obtains the cosmic cube for his love Lady Death.
The First Avenger is my favorite MCU movie. Loved the first What If episode, really enjoyed it.
This movie is the foundation of the MCU we know now......... but this movie is heavily underrated!

I think the sword Peggy wields in the last is none other than *Excalibur* , the King Arthur's one. The design was also the SIMILAR as shown in the Fate : Zero anime. That Sword was already present in the Lab when Red skull summons that Octopus from the portal/space. This means Red skull found that sword earlier and had invested his research in that Legend too coz we all know, he believes in Legends such as Odin & other Norse mythology. And there is a good chance that the sword doesn't work for evil doer/wielder. ( Just like a non-worthy being will never be able to lift Mjolnir : *just read it all* ). Therefore , it was of no use to Red skull and his minions ,but when Peggy wields it and we know she is worthy enough as Steve's.. so it's kindoff similar moment like Steve lifts Mjolnir in Endgame. ( crazy right ). So, The Excalibur senses the good in Peggy and let her use his mighty sharp blades 😂 to kill that Octopus from the space. It might be revealed in future episodes 😁. I mean it is wild and unexpectedly awesome to do this in an Animated show.
So she's also a variant of Captain Britain? Cool
@@etriganthedemon666 umm..maybe , coz she wears the flag of Britain and also on the shields and also the Legend of Excalibur exist in that location as well. Hence , it can be true to say that Captain Carter is a Variant of Captain Britain.

The reason the Hulk (in the movie) shoots his eyes open is because this is what Bill Bixby, the original David (Bruce) Banner did when he turned into the Hulk in 1977, probably for the shock value of the weird contacts both versions of the Hulk had...
I really liked this movie, but I had hoped that Red Skull would be a recurring villain in a Captain America movie series, popping up as an evil mastermind puppetmaster here and there more often.

The tesseract is a four-dimensional cube which is why in the sketch book it is shown as a cube inside a cube. This is the common three-space representation of the four-space cube. Since we live in three-dimensional space we can't really visualize four-dimensional space so the figure is just an approximate representation. Since the tesseract is actually a higher dimensional space, the monster that comes out of it is a higher dimensional being. This means that what we are seeing is not actually what the creature looks like in four-dimensional space but rather a three-dimensional approximation.
Alister MacLean wrote Where Eagles Dare and he was a best-selling novelist who also wrote The Guns of Navarone and Ice Station Zebra which were also made into movies. Where Eagles Dare was an original screenplay that MacLean turned into a novel. He served in the military during WWII so the novels were inspired by his time in the service. The novels are excellent reads and you should be able to get them even now. I highly recommend them.
Of course we won't mention the Ryan-Zola connection. It, uh, never happened. Yeah that's it. It never happened.

I have often wondered about what happened when red skull was sent through space. Who filled him in on his duties and the rules about guarding the stone? Did he have an orientation day and have to sit through loads of mind numbing training videos?
Ppl kept telling me to watch everything in order, but honestly the MCU is made so you can watch it from any point. It was really fun spotting these things going back.

Pssssh man Paul I was so disappointed of the 1st episode of What If. A ton of cheesy lines. Way to much dance talk. Peggy being surprised she could kick butt and the fact Red Skull pulled his mask off and the next scene had Peggy calling him The Red Skull. I know it's a cartoon and all, but still the show is Canon to the MCU, so they could have spent a little bit more time on the show and made the episode a little bit longer so it wouldn't have felt so fast paced
