      @@timesfly1081 Nakamura is an extraordinary chess player, but Magnus Carlsen is significantly better. Magnus Carlsen is significantly better than every other chess player on the planet. Magnus has beaten Nakamura several years in a row at the chess speed championship. One of the years, Magnus was baking a pie during the beginning matches and still won, with leaving the chess board to check the pie. He listened to loud music in his headphones while singing and dancing and dismantled Nakamura without breaking a sweat. The gap between them is even wider in classical chess. But Nakamura is an extraordinary chess player, one of the best in the world. He was at number 2 at one point, at the beginning of the 2010's decade. A like/dislike ratio of 8/1 is pathetic for a match like this. I would expect it to be closer to 20/1.
    The reason there are so many dislikes comes down to just one thing: Constantly cutting away from the game to show variations on the only display board. That is simply not how chess broadcasts are done.
    It would be like if football commentators drew yellow lines all over the screen DURING PLAYS.

    • @RMichaelHimself
      @RMichaelHimself 3 года назад

      @@SaintD382 yup the jokes were disgusting. Horrible, literally almost nauseatingly bad. He’s so unfunny, it actually makes me feel physically ill to listen to him relentlessly try to be funny for 4 hours. Some people just aren’t funny, and they need to just accept it. Maybe his dork wife laughs at everything he says at home, or some nerdy coworker... and it’s gotten to his head. Saying “look number 32” is not something anyone finds funny.
      And fuck Robert Hess for fake laughing so much, it just enabled it to continue. So Hess is just as much to blame for this historically catastrophic chess event - a chess event that should have gone down in the history books as the first truly ELITE online speed chess competition. Hess is just such a pussy he doesn’t have the courage to give Rensch the silent treatment after the lame “bishops are like ninjas hahaha, it’s so silly hehe”. Like STFU Danny Rensch, you’ve literally said that 72 times now (I’m not exaggerating - 71 times would be acceptable, but 72 it officially becomes offensive). So fuck both these commentators.
      It’s arguably the most unforgivable, and atrocious moments in broadcasting history. They could literally commit fraud, or encourage violence, and it would be more forgivable. You cannot physically block the view of the game, whilst making bad jokes, just to intentionally prevent viewers from watching the biggest chess event in world history.
      Because in my opinion, this IS the biggest event in chess history. Magnus vs Hikaru in hours of non stop online speed chess? They’re the two BEST online blitz players ever - and they NEVER play each other. EVER. Never on stream, never on Titled Tuesday... they unfortunately refuse to play. It sucks, but this event gave us all an opportunity to just watch them play and relish the moment. And Danny Rensch closes the game window, and spends 4 hours streaming his own games while occasionally telling us how Hikaru vs Magnus is going.
      It’s almost like it was an intentional obstruction of the game. Surprised there have been no charges pressed - this MUST have been illegal in some way. Imagine if this happened at the super bowl - the commentators just cut away from the game and showed footage of themselves playing in the backyard for 80% of the game. While cracking jokes about “oh those shoulder pads make them look like big strong meanies! Haha. The shoulder pads make them look all strong - I’m scared! Haha. Oh how silly! So anyways, here’s footage of me throwing a hailmary. I do think Brady could try this...” all the while we’re missing touch downs. People would be furious. The commentators would be genuinely scared for their safety. Yet when commentators ruined the biggest chess event in world history, it’s all good.
      There are literally morons in here defending it saying “who cares about Magnus vs Hikaru, Danny is so silly willy hehehe! His joke made me laugh, hehe! I remember the power rangers battle (spitting intensely) where the blue power ranger did what Danny’s saying! Hehe so just enjoy the commentators because they’re so silly!” Like STFU morons, this was a broadcasting atrocity.

    Feedback for the next broadcast on Jan 3rd... Please show the actual "live" gameboard at all times. Very sad to miss some of the surprise moves/mistakes that actually lead to the end of a game, just because the commentator wanted to show an alternative board. The live action should never be missed for speculation/punditry and since you can't go back to show it off (as with the format, you gotta play the next game straight away) you never see the plays that were missed during the punditry.
    Awesome games though!

    Dont you guys watch other blitz videos? Why would you cut to another board to show potential moves in the middle of a 2 minute game between two of the best gm's around!? just use some arrows or just wait for the lighting quick game to be over... this should be common sense. Atleast the title of this video doesn't say who won. I guess that's progress.

    At 5:38 why did Nakamura play Nxb7 then Bxb7, rather than the other way round which would’ve led to a fork on Magnus’ king & queen?
    PS: Beginner here.

    • @kevinworrell889
      @kevinworrell889 4 года назад +1

      Absalom, I'll explain it to you. If Bxb7 it's only the loss of a pawn because black would not be forced to recapture on b7. He would just let it go. With Nxb7+ first, black has to capture on b7 because there are no other legal moves available.( plus he would want to anyway if there were legal moves so he wouldn't lose his Queen)So here's the " point tally " , Bxb7 first = gain of 1 point, while Nxb7+ first = gain of 3 points ( white gets the b7 pawn and the c7 rook for only a 3 point knight. ) I was laughing at first because your idea is wonderful if black would play it that way( Bxb7,Rxb7,Nxb7+,Kc7,Nxd6... .. .) The thing is, he wouldn't. 🍵😉👍

    what am I missing at 1:29:41 ?? What was the tactic Magnus had that prevented Naka from taking the pawn on h6?

    • @UtkarshKaushikfelix
      @UtkarshKaushikfelix 5 лет назад

      That traps the knight, doesn't it? The king can move to g7 and knight has no retreating squares. G5 is covered by white pawn, f5 will lose knight to g6 pawn, g8 will lose it to the king as will staying there.
      You can opt to push the g4 pawn after capturing so the knight is no longer hanging on h6, but then black can push f5 and your knight is trapped again. Sure you can capture with the e pawn but black is getting a lot of activity and can surely create an advance past pawn, winning the race.
      It is also possible that I'm absolutely missing the plot.

    Great match, and seriously enjoyed the commentary as well. GM Hess really knows his stuff - he was right that the final position is actually theoretically winning for black. Magnus already knew he had won the match so probably wasn't too focused. Key is that after... Kd6 Ke4 h3! and Zugzwang as Hess pointed out. Can't wait for next year!

    I personally have nothing against the commentators' analysis, as they are both strong players and things can be learned from them... but I do understand that that does distract from the actual game. So this year they changed it to using another board for analysis.

    • @kevinworrell889
      @kevinworrell889 4 года назад +1

      Not a blunder at all. Bxb7 wins only a pawn. Nxb7+ wins a pawn and the exchange rook for knight by force. It's not like black would capture the bishop with his rook to lose his rook and queen both for a bishop. He would only lose a pawn and the sequence would stop right there
