    The music in the second film is stellar. I don't know what critics are talking about. The music is simply spot on during the showdown between Mortimer and his sister's killer, Indio. It's perfect.

      i agree except for me it's the bank robbery scene, which includes three groups of people (the sheriff and his deputies leaving town, indio and his gang above them watching, and clint eastwood above either of them watching). it's my favorite piece of filmmaking and the music is just awesome

    Lee van Cleef had a magnetism that immediately drew the viewer in and held their attention. He was able to convey so much with just his eyes and facial expressions without having to say a word. He was a magnificent actor

    Not sure if anyone mentioned this but I’ll throw it out there anyway. The trilogy is actually told in reverse. The proper watch sequence is The Good, The Bad & The Ugly, For a Few Dollars More, then finally A Fist Full of Dollars. Blondie acquires his famous poncho in 3, and in 1 he says “so long”. Also, in aFFoD when he saves the couple from Indio, they ask him why. He then explains that he once knew someone who was in a similar situation, but no one was there to help. He’s referring to Col. Douglas Mortimer’s sister and her husband.

    Dollar trilogy is some of my favorite movies of all time! What I find really interesting that doesn’t get talked about as much is the fact that he used the same sets, the same actors and props and costumes and basically made 3 different movies. They are all similar and progress in style, story and length. Also the soundtracks gradually become better and more epic which each film finally leading up the classic song playing during the final scene in the cemetery of The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.
    But the stories and characters aren’t connected. You notice things like “Oh in this movie he’s a bandit, but in the next movie he’s a preacher!”
    Also the fact that the protagonist is the same actor for the first two movies, even though he dies in the first movie.
    No other director has done this that I’m aware of?? I find this approach to filmmaking just incredible and very creative!

    You forget one thing is that those film where made in the 60s they didn't have the same quick-paced as now. Now a film like this will make no views in our days. And when clint can't shoot lee van cleef on the street is not because he can't shoot, its because he was to faraway.

    • @KlueLuke
      @KlueLuke  9 месяцев назад

      Oh I know, I guess I was saying how the distance of the apples and the distance of the hat seemed too similar and it was weird how he couldn't shoot the hat but could shoot the apples. Also, I wouldn't even bother making a point like that these days, it's just too nitpicky and I was looking for something to complain about.

    Of these three films For A Few Dollars More is my favorite of the three. The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly is to long for its own good. And Fistful drags to much for my tastes. And when I think of Western music I think the music from the final dual in For A Few Dollars More. The Pocketwatch chimes are iconic.

    i prefer a few dollars more over gbu and a big reason is because lee van cleef has a much larger role, his performances are the best of the trilogy with gian maria volonté. the film is also just more watchable i find as its shorter and really action packed. gbu is awesome though, i love how you can really see van cleef at the end realise that theyre both gonna probably shoot him first.

  • @magicalangels3669

    In “for a few dollars more”, Lee Van Cleef’s character uses a gun with a long barrel, which is why Clint Eastwood couldn’t shoot him in the hat shooting duel. I think guns have certain range depending on the type 🤷‍♀️ (specifically) don’t quote me on that though I’m Australian 😅. Lee Van Cleef’s character was testing how far the range of Clint Eastwoods character’s gun can shoot. Which can also be seen at the beginning 13:48 when Lee van Cleef was catching his first bounty. Also loved the video 👍

    My favourite of the trilogy is definitely for a few dollars more.
    As to the organ, gothic version of El Indio, played in the first locket duel, I thought it was fantastic. It took place in a church, so it made sense in some way, and it also just captured Indio's darkness so well.
    Also you thought it was the locket making the music for some reason... No. The locket has the simple melody it plays, and then it shifts to non diagetic music. This is very obvious, I really don't know why you'd think otherwise...

    A guy I know lent me the trilogy. Yes, all starring the same guys and yes all directed by the same guy… and yes, all westerns. But I think we get our hopes up thinking these are a trilogy narrative, but rather a trilogy in the sense of spiritual successors. Having finally watching part 3 today. I can say I enjoyed all three, the stories are simple enough easy to understand, nothing too confusing. Great movies, and I agree, Lee Van Cleef really steals it. Either as the the veteran bounty hunter, or the sly bad guy, he was awesome

  • @Stigggs
    @Stigggs 6 месяцев назад

    Clint could not hit Van Cleef because Van Cleef had walked out of the range of Clint’s gun. Thats why Sergio shows the bullets hitting the ground at Lee’s feet. Van Cleef had a more powerful long barrel gun that’s why he could shoot Clint’s hat off at the same distance.

    Bob Robertson was on the credits but I’m sure your watching restored versions and all the spoke different languages as the films were joint productions of Italian, German and sometimes France producers who would insist on a popular actor in their prospective countries, Marion Koch spoke German, Eastwood English some others spoke Spanish and this is why Italians shoot MOS. Cheezy and campy are two words I never thought I never thought id hear someone say about these films. Ghost towns?! A ghost town is an abandoned town. These are small towns. You are aware that there were no large cities in the southwest. The first film is essentially a remake of Kurosawa’s Yojimbo. I never once heard anyone say that Dollars More had a bad soundtrack. In closing you might want to stick to cliched superhero films and Disney cartoons.

    Few Dollars More is My favorite,.. film AND soundtrack.
    #1's story is too tedious #3 is too grandiose (and "ugly's" comedic tone is irritating).
    The whistling and the locket chime motifs in #2 soundtrack raise it far above the others.
    #2 also has the coolest ending of any movie ever ("No Old Man. Thought I was having trouble with my adding. It's all right now")

    I'd always interpreted the woman in "few dollars more" much more darkly. That it is INDIO'S sister. He's clearly insane and this is hammered home. An insanely jealous brother in love with his sister kills her husband and tries to take her. It even explains her suicide more dramatically.
