I met Claire when she was the press officer at Silverstone circuit. Back in the day Claire dealt with the press requests for media access to F1 test sessions, and at the time I was representing Planet-F1 so regularly conversed with Claire to request access for certain test days. At the time I had no idea that she was a "Williams" and only made that link later in life. I always found Claire to be very approachable, very fair, and very easy to talk to. This was a lovely interview with her, and I'm chuffed that she seems so relaxed in life - she deserves it I think.
To me, Claire has all the traits of a high-value, classy lady. I have missed her in Formula One, and I am so glad to see her appear in the Drive to Survive Netflix series again. I have the greatest respect for this lady, she has done her father proud. I think Formula One should keep her in the media, as she is a great asset to them. In life, we all make difficult choices, but knowing you have done the right one is a blessing, as Claire did.
One of my biggest disappointments in F1 was seeing Claire leave the sport…I truly believe she would add so much to the current F1 if she was still leading Williams…
Be brave. Sometimes better to ask for forgiveness than permission. Good advice. She’s an admirable person. Rooting for Williams with some points this weekend in Imola. 🏁🏁🏁
When a woman feels the need to always make a point of telling everyone she is woman,, it actually hurts the cause. Let your actions speak for themselves. Do great things and stopping talking about your gender.
Deep in our hearts we all know the people who are truly supportive and welcoming to women in the workforce. In Scandanavia, it was so apparent to me, working there in the 1990's that they were streets ahead of (certainly) the UK at that time. I'm so pleased now that things are progressing, so full marks to Claire and everyone who are pushing this. F1 and the sport generally, is way better off going down this path. If I encounter any man today who is "sexist" mysogenus or arrogant towards women, I stand up to them and call them out to their faces.
She is an amazing lady with an amazing family. Great interview but a bit disappointed in your title "I wasn't brave enough" as even though it was her words, she is one of the bravest women in a male-dominated sport.
What an absolute beautiful icon in the world of motor racing and specifically F1. Claire describes the brutal truth of the industry that the average fan will never comprehend, admin skills, haha. Very special, very brave, much loved.
Be proud Claire, you did great. Huge wags from my Dalmatian puppy. I spent 17 years working for F1 Teams, nothing in F1 is easy. To suddenly have to RUN a Team? Out of this world, you did a fantastic job
I’ve been a Williams fan for close to 50 years now and it broke my heart to see a once powerhouse decline the way it did. You’re pretty darn amazing Claire to carry the torch as you did during those difficult years.
I've always had a soft spot for Claire Williams 💙her passion for Williams melted my heart giving me great admiration for her , however, I'm most disapointed at her desire to serve in this shamful Tory party 😑 I love the empathy Claire has show to other woman struggles in this sport, who arn't as favored by having her ststus!
Great interview, it’s interesting that Claire feels she’s boring, shy and anti social. She comes across as confidant to me with a good head on her shoulders. A good communicator and eloquent. It must be extremely difficult to step into your very successful Fathers shoes in the cut throat world of F1. She certainly has my respect.
Thank you for the comment, appreciate you taking the time to watch. Tune into The MotorMouth Podcast to hear loads more! Another big guest coming up soon!
If Clare thinks she's boring she should come meet me lol I must be the most boring person ever, dont have friends, dont want them bit when I was younger my friends were women, could not get on with blokes. But as for church, yea why not, if you have flare with flowers do it. Still love Williams and she's right, need more women in F1. I actually think Williams will be top 10 in 2025, good to see you again Clare 😊
If in F1 you put family before winning - it is no longer F1, it is no longer the extreme. F1 is about 65-70 hour weeks. It is about absolute hunger for success, winning. Quite frankly, I think Claire is out of her depth with her excuses. She was not Frank. The F1 is about the best getting the job and if 99/100 of the applicants are men who are willing to compromise everything so what is the realistic chance for the one woman what talks about family and working hours? Men and women are not the same. You can cry as loud and long as you can that water is dry but the truth does not change. The reason why one of the best teams went below par was initiated by Frank and Patrick for not taking care of the heritage, the next generation especially in the engineering side. I'd put this very much on Patrick's shoulders. They should have given Adrian the shares. They should have invested to supreme intelligence, individuals. That is what RB had done. Adrian has taken care that his knowledge is herited. You can also speculate about what if team Willy had been sold to BMW. But I think German organisations are not optimal for F1.
Love Claire, she is proper English. I hope she is enjoying a proper English relaxing lifestyle. You deserve to have a good time girl. I bet you can do a great SEB if you let yourself go?
From a outsider and ex metrology engineer. Williams is working in the 70's compared to Red Bull, Mercedes and Ferrari as far as measurements of aero three dimensional surfaces is concerned, no wonder that the car never performs as expected.
@@MotorMouthMediaProductions maybe my phrasing was not great and misleading. F1 is a dude's world and the arrival of Claire Williams in the scene was special. I always had a little crush on her, that's it. I am just a F1 - and Claire Williams - fan.
Kelly Earnhardt is the obvious woman running a racing team that I can't believe wasn't mentioned. She had a very similar upbringing in the sport to Claire though.
Claire was busy doing DEI stuff. She didn’t learn from her dad. When she started to be really in charge she refused to do practice so she had no idea how the tires would work
Lol pretty sure her problem was not being able to find sponsors to bail out the company her dad ran into the ground….continually not paying debtors, not getting big sponsors on board …yeah that’s all Claire’s fault. Williams was going down long before Claire took over the reigns….and that’s coming from a life long Williams fan
Because men behave badly if they are not balanced by women. They don't notice when they make a mistake if they aren't shown an example and they cant accept when they have made one. Mr.Horner?

She’s such a lovely lady and absolutely NOT ordinary.
I'm so glad she's happy. Claire is the reason that Williams was, and continues to be, my favorite team.
Claire's the reason?
Awesome interview, massive respect for Claire Williams.. Wish she was still involved with F1 😊

Wonderful interview. Well done, Claire.
She's aging well.
47 here - looks much younger.

Appreciate your comment, thanks for the feedback
Really nice interview with a lady who has been at the heart of the sport for a long time. Such a pity her tenure at Williams as TP did not work out.
Thanks for the positive feedback :)
She seems like such a lovely person !
Thanks for this interview. It wa nice seeing her again.
Always had great respect for Claire, great to see her again, talking about normal life.

So you note the correlation then.
Classy lady, !!!
Amazing interview, and an amazing interviewee. Wow!
Respect, Claire. You have so much to be super proud of 💙🌷🏁
A wonderful lady.
I always did like Claire, just felt so sorry for her having to give up the team that her father had created and had so much success with.

Far from boring, absotutely delightful

Having 3 dogs is not ridiculous. I've got 6, now that is ridiculous 🤣
Williams...the only Formula 1 team to ever finish 11th in a 10 team championship! 🤣
Exactly
Claire is a total star and what an inspiration too.
You weren't good enough! If it wasn't for her fathers name she would have nothing to do with any motorsport let alone F1
lazy boring and goes to church
just my type
Claire Bear, you was sooooopa bwave! and our squidy bun bun :)
more like you werent smart enough.
Claire is such a attrative lady.....

She did the best she could. Lawrence Stroll left her with a skeleton when he bought Force India.

A super real human being with great values…❤ none of the egotistic formula One Syndrome.
Great interview guys! I don’t like running either but I have to as it’s my only form of fitness (3 miles in enough for me as well🥵🤣).
Williams was left with needing a lot of investment to develop however to spend over £100M a year to run 2 cars is crazy
I don't think I'm alone, wishing Claire would be back in F1 in some form
What a great lady ❤175 million for a F1 team is a bloody bargin…

Would love to see Williams back in F1 in some capacity.
I like Claire it's a shame events got tough for her
Beautiful Mrs
Interesting and enjoyable interview, really nice to hear from Claire. That wobbly camera on the right side was really distracting though!
Noted!
Absolutely loved this 👍👍
So glad!
she turned williams F1 into Minardi
How many men are in charge of a Netball team ?
Why do women have to be included in all male
orientated sport ?
