My window blinds string unraveled. Which of these would you think is preferable to splicing in a new line? I don’t know if any of these knots would make it through the pull mechanisms.
I'm an old sailor and know most knots. My all time favorite is #3. It is said that in the old times when most sailors were illiterates, they used this knot as a love letter. When at sea, they sent the knot (not pulled together) to their loved ones. If they got it back pulled together it meant she was still with him. If it came back not pulled together, they were off. #5 Bowline. I can not see any good reason to make two loops 02:56 when one is more than enough.
@@kristinedderman2019 Actually, I don't know. I only know it as the 'love knot', but I think it's just a nickname. It's not used much on a sailship. It's a quick splice option, but not useful in a sail rig.
Number 4 should have the working ends of those loops starting in opposite directions to make the Zeppelin properly. You should end with only 2 loops over the whole thing that are used to easily pull it apart. This has 4 loops that are harder to pull apart and the ends look like they will slip together if put under enough load (I could pull them to about 90° from each other whereas a proper Zeppelin will keep them at 180°).
zeppelin are easy to untie after a big load, the hunter I think not so much. But they are very very similar ( zeppelin doesn't slide, I have seen it in numerous load tests)
Did I miss something, which if I did I'm not going to claim it would be any sort of special event, but there were only 4 connection methods, weren't there??? Number 5 was a loop in a single piece of rope, wasn't it??? Or did I, as feared, miss something?......?........
I would have finished the video, and probably have hit "like", but there was a horrible noise in the video that made me want to jam an ice pick through my head, and I could only tolerate it for 2 minutes. Why do people insist on ruining good videos just to prove that their taste in music sucks?
1. Never actually seen that one before and don't see a practical application for it. 2. Surgeon's knot 3. Double fisherman's 4. Hunter's bend (which I'm pretty sure is just a Zeppelin done wrong) 5. Double bowline (second loop just adds strength/security to the knot)
Yes. For climbing we use the #3 which is the double fisher knot. And we also use simple overhand knot (not shown) with optional stopper knot. I don't know about the other ones. I wouldn't bet my life on the knots shown here, except the fisherman, which is the most robust of all knots. Many climbing channels explain about it: hard is easy, how not to,...

I'm sure we could figure them out. Just at first glance, #2 is a surgeon's knot, #3 is a double fishermans bend, and #5 is a double bowline..

Tough looks extremely simple, simple looks extremely tough, wow awesome.

Kind of overkilling the bowline knot. I can't see any reason to have two loops when one is enough.

A double-wrap bowline #5. Never thought of the extra wrap. thanx.
It's pointless. It don't make any difference than making it harder to tie..

Number 5 is what I needed

For hang something
Thank you.
Great video
Square knot, sheet bend, bowline....Bob's yer uncle.
Please provide the names of the knots
Thanks for watching and suggestions, the latest video adds an introduction, you will see it soon
Number 3: double fisherman
Number 4: zepplin knot
@WungusBill First one is an Ashley Bend.
I would name the first one wild bill.

which one is the strongest for heavy loads?
Oh very good video
Beautiful knots
Could you put #5 on two lines and have the loops intertwined?
Yes. Number five is a bowline.
Double Becket Bend - basically a sheet bend with an extra turn.
Great 👍💙💛

No name no thumbs up or no subscribe, otherwise well done.
Good video technically, but sort of a waste of time without an explanation of what each knot is especially suited for.

Yes, you are absolutely right, the fifth is a single set of knots😃
Very very good
The video needs the names of the knots. Who teaches something without teaching its name so we can refer to it?
