Very good point, but a truck and sedan will never change. A player can work and develop in areas that they need.

Very true, this video is in response to the question which is speaking about gaining confidence the present moment. But yes, roles and abilities can definitely be changed/developed over time.

I’ve been struggling to get myself to practice basketball. Let alone do anything productive for the past 6 months. When I finally get myself to practice basketball, I don’t do it for long. Maximum 10 minutes. It’s like the moment I start dribbling the basketball I feel fatigued and somewhat bored. I always have a plan when I practice too. I know I have potential to go far in basketball, but I lack discipline. I know I gotta force myself to do things, but do you have any tips? I’m hoping this summer I can lock in.

I think you should try to focus on learning to enjoy the process. You‘re working on your game in order to grow as a player, right? If you don‘t enjoy that activity it will always be hard to be consistent. Try to celebrate little steps forward, focus on details, be a basketball scientist. Find little rewards in each session, something that you‘re improving on or something you‘ve figured out. And understand that this is a long term process, consistency is key to progressing. It‘s ultimately about love for the game and the desire to understand it on a deeper level, and also a quest to understand yourself, your own body and mind, figuring out who you are and what you can and cannot do in a given situation. Like with anything else the way you live basketball is a mirror for how you live your life. If you pay attention you can figure out a lot of stuff about yourself. The game is just that, a game, it‘s a stage, an opportunity for self-discovery and self-expression. Enjoy it :)

@@notperfect101yeah thats probably what I gotta do. I think the main problem for my lack of motivation for anything is the fact that I’ve been addicted to the internet for YEARS. It makes it so hard to actually do something that’s even remotely difficult. The thing that gets me mad the most is that when I am in rhythm, I am a monster. I was always naturally quick without any training. I just have to actually put in the work. I appreciate the response and I will try to enjoy the process. 🙏

I knoww what I can do, I know what im meant do, born to do. But only bc's im taller than everyone else he thinks i will play like "shaq-style", but in reality im more of a driving layup shooting guy. I've told my coach, but it seems like he just doesn't care. Im made a PF, born a PG

Same, my coach put me at pf not because i am tall but i am strong. In realty i am a good perimeter player and good at driving but i am always close to the basket.

Some feedback: About 4 minutes of this video so far includes an overly elaborate analogy about trucks and gets lost in the weeds with all the truck / camping details. IMO I would use a short and concise analogy cause I don't care for the analogy and just wanted to hear your thoughts on confidence in basketball.
