Cool List! Rad Racer was always my favorite...your opponents cars on each track were modeled after real world sports cars of that era, and a couple of the tracks were were based on real world circuits. the radio music composed by Nobu Uematsu was great, and there was a mode for wearing 3d glasses....which didn't really work very well. ExiteBike was so cool, I wish more race games let you design and play your own course, that was an amazing feature. Michael Andretti's World GP was also cool for having all real world circuits, race cars, and ofc the likeness of Mikey himself. Sadly, there's another good one I don't think we ever got in the U.S. and only on Japanese Famicom, and that's Chase H.Q. where you play as a police interceptor (a Porsche 928) chasing other real life sports cars, and booking the bad guys on screen after you catch them. It's really worth a look at! 😁
That is really cool to hear about the cars being modeled after real sports cars depending on the track you were racing. Sounds like Rad Racer had a lot of realistic details for the time with the tracks and cars. The radio music is an excellent touch to that game, and the 3D mode is something that was at least... interesting if you wanted to try it out haha. Excitebike's design feature was so awesome for the time, I didn't like the overheating mechanic though. Andretti's World GP is another one like you said that was pretty realistic for the time. Ahhhhh Chase HQ! I did a video on that but for the Sega Master System! It's a really cool concept of chasing the bad guys and banging into them until they breakdown. Awesome comment, I can tell you know your racing games! Thanks for watching.
My favorite racing game on the nes is eliminator boat duel which is a underrated classic but my favorite on this list is road blasters. It's a fairly cheap pickup and overall just a simple and great game. Rc pro am is also a absolute classic.
I actually am making a part 2 to this video and Eliminator Boat Duel is in it. Road Blasters looks so dope. I think I might have to grab a copy of it soon. Thanks for watching my guy.
Nice list! I played a lot of Excitebike and especially Super Off Road! I always enjoyed upgrading my car to become as fast as possible! Great video and keep up the good work!
I have a lot of great memories playing RC-PRO AM as a kid. I didn't play the second one as I already moved on to the Genesis. No matter which NES racer you pick it will still be better than Dragster on the 2600
Haha, the NES had some very solid racing titles. I like a few of them, but yes... I'm sure they all beat Dragster to the finish line! Awesome to hear you've got some memories playing RC Pro AM. Thanks for watching and dropping a comment.
Oh baby! Excite Bike was my JAM! I didn't own it, but my best friend did! I loved playing it at his house! I never tried Mach Rider, but it looks good. I don't think I ever saw this one back in the day. I only played Rad Racer once or twice. Can't remember where though. Definitely wasn't a close friend. I didn't play RC Pro, Cobra, nor Knight rider, but they look cool. I didn't play Road Blasters either, but it looks very similar to something I did play... hmm.. can't remember the name though. I'd never heard of Al Unser's Turbo Racing, huh. Smbitious though. Super Off Road was one I played at my cousins' house. They always kicked my butt, but I enjoyed every minute of it. I think I played the Michael Angretti one at my Scout Leader's house once. Very cool list. Takes me back, even though racing games were never a big focus for me.
Excitebike was fun but man I didn't care for that overheating feature! Mach Rider looks really challenging, it's one I discovered making this video. Rad Racer sounds RAD. I played a little bit of RC Pro AM and Cobra as a kid, but not Knight Rider. Road Blasters looks super dope, I love the combat feature. Haha cousins are good for being competitive. There are some solid titles for racing on the NES, it's been fun showcasing them. Thanks for watching buddy!
The Bill Elliott Nascar game is probably the best i have played on NES. It has adjustability of gear ratio down force & maybe shock stiffness you can drive it manual & the drivability is actually not to bad compared to other games. Only downfall is there are only 4 tracks all up 2 speedways & 2 circuits.
Rad Racer seems like a very solid racing title. I'll have to check out Nigel Mansell's World Championship Racing, I hadn't heard of that one. Thanks for watching and dropping a comment!
I don’t find any of those games appealing but I do want to play the NES sometime- I never have! Just not a racing game I have learned… another informative video!
I didn't either until making this list, strangely enough, I've never seen the show but it seems like one I'd enjoy. I'll have to check it out! Thanks for watching buddy
A lot of games here that are nostalgic for me. Excitebike I always loved, as well as RC Pro-Am. Knight Rider...ugh I hated that game lmao! My brother had it and we both knew it was a crappy game. I never heard of that F1 Turbo Racing game though, which sounds ambitious for an NES game honestly. Cobra Triangle I've heard great things about too, and need to give that a shot. Cool topic idea for the NES!
Excitebike is great for bursts of fun, but I could never play it more than an hour. That overheating feature made me mad haha. Love to hear that you have played Knight Rider even though you hated it. That was one game I was hoping for some input on as I never hear people discuss it. Cobra Triangle has a lot of stuff going on for it, maybe a little too much but overall I think it's a solid game. Thanks for watching, GCG!
Isn't it funny how are tastes change as we grow up? I have a few games that I thought were junk as a kid or vice versa. That's why I like replaying games to see how they hold up! Thanks for watching.
I'd have to say Mach Rider is the fastest, almost to the point of being uncontrollable. I remember my parents getting that for me when it came out. Changing gears made it even more challenging.
That's a great memory to have of your parents getting it for you. I beat the shifting of the gears made it tough! Thanks for watching and dropping a comment.
Haha, Michael Andretti an F1 racing star. He totally failed in F1 and was out before the year's end. Funny that he got an F1 game. I should try that some time. I have little knowledge of NES games. US only :(
Love that little tidbit of info on Michael Andretti haha, I knew he was a good driver, but I wasn't aware he flamed out in F1. You should really try it now! Thanks for watching, I've got a few NES videos coming out so buckle up!
Excitebike and Rad Racer are both ok, but i never played them as a child. For me the first place is RC Pro am. I like the controlls and except for the fact, that the orange racer gets hyperspeed and later on all the others, too, which makes it unfair after the first playthrough, it is a challenging, but fair game. Unfortunately RC Pro am 2 sucks because of the other perspective and some other flaws. Knight Rider also wakes up childhood memories, but it is still a good racer even without my rose-colored glasses i guess. Cobra Triangle woke my interests. It looks quite fun. I need to try it out. And for sure Micro Machines 1 and eliminator boat duel are great examples for your next video and worth looking at. Thx for the video. I like this sort of NES Throwbacks /overviews related to a special genre.
Excitebike is fun with the custom tracks, but I hated that overheat feature. Rad Racer seems like a fan-favorite to viewers. RC Pro Am is one that I think would be difficult to master but it'd be fun to play. I never knew about the orange racer getting the hyperspeed first! Knight Rider is one that I've heard people either think that the game stinks or is a hidden gem. Cobra Triangle is a challenging game but it has a lot of cool elements to it with the racing, combat and boss battles. I will for sure be doing part 2 to this video and include some of the awesome race titles you suggested. Thanks for the comment and for watching, you've come to the right channel for NES overviews haha.
How do you go from RC Pro AM, developed by Rare to Cobra Triangle, also developed by Rare and state the power up system is borrowed from “shoot em genre” ? The game is an exact clone of RC Pro AM but in water. Same physics, engine & power ups. But great video , just giving ya a hard time.
Haha no worries, I like a good hard time... wait that came out wrong. I can handle a good joke! Thanks for watching and dropping a comment. These racers were a lot of fun.
Hey hey hey! I said these were the early NES racers!!! I'll have to showcase Built To Win sometime although I'm not familiar with it. But if it's the BEST on the system, I need to check it out. Are you going to MGC?
@@TigerChainsawVideoGames Built To Win is def the BEST racing game on the NES. Sadly I cannot make it to MGC. My food truck just opened for the season and I have a few nice gigs that weekend. It pains me to miss it bc it's my fav trip of the entire year. Have fun for me lol
Hola - pls note it's not RC Pro-A.M. - it's just "Pro-Am" as in "professional / amateur". Great list though, plenty of time in my own NES for several of these.
Oh, my bad! Thank you for the correction, I'll pronounce it differently next time. Glad to hear you have some of these games. Thanks for watching and dropping a comment.
Haha, sometimes I'll get critical with a personal opinion of a game. Which one of these games did you dislike? Thanks for watching and dropping a comment.

Wow! That is some high praise! Glad you enjoyed it so much.
