Many have just resigned themselves to this unjust system. Dr. Kunjufu's observations and findings have proven to be true as well as others like Michelle Wallace, for example. Laws, policies, etc. show this as well. In fact a "lock-out" in society, if you will. Reading AND observation are very important in keeping one informed. The struggle continues in enlightening MORE of our black people, especially FBA's. Realistically, we cannot "save" everybody, we can only reach individuals that collectively want change.

I was 38 when I first heard him and his message was what I needed. My teachers hated me, never called on me, always got in trouble, sent out of class rooms. I never understood, as I got older I can't help but think it was because I had the answers, my mother taught my how to read before I went to school.
I ended up running a 'gang' my senior year and ended up in and out of jail for myself 20s. I had to cure myself from criminality, identity crisis and depression. I grew up around white people and never seen a black person in a positive role outside of the military and church.

I was fortunate to be principal of three schools with African American male teachers at the elementary level. One school had 11 African American Males employed in every area of school operation, three of which were elementary teachers. I found Dr. Kunjufu on the shelves of the Mervyn Sterne Library at the University of Alabama at Birmingham when I was a student. Several of his books are in my home library. I've always been a fan but two things stood out to me: 1. He's been at this for over 40 years and nothing has changed. Maybe it's time we change our approach of trying to change a system never designed for us 2. Isn't church and religion one of the biggest detractors from our progress? He's trying to figure out why Black men and boys don't attend church. Why don't we have more faith in ourselves?

I do not share it usually because it sounds to the uninformed, racists. However, as an educator an a legal scholar, I have witnessed the impact of myself on black students and other African American educators on the black student. Unlike Umar Johnson, who does little for the community, Dr. Kunjufu has been doing the real work and generating legitimate solutions for decades.

The people managing RealBlack are doing an amazing job. Your videos do not concern only African Americans. I am from the French Caribbean, my parents from the English Caribbean. I am an English teacher and I have fallen on your works by chance. May God continue to bless you.

Kunjufu has developed a win, win on how to educate a great body of young minds of a nation and should be given a Pulitzer Prize by our culture of people who are of the African Heritage Roots for his mind, body and spiritual works in our favor

Sadly, I think we've been programmed to not trust grown men around young children, and especially Black grown men. We're trained to believe we need the nurturing female teacher to train young children in critical subjects (Math, Language Arts, etc). I'm black and grew up in urban Brooklyn and Queens, and didn't have a male (non-PE) teacher until the 6th Grade. Never thought about that before, but it's wild.
