  • This video shows my first day exploring the island Flores in a quick tempo because the weather was not great. I visited some view points and waterfalls; the Poço da Ribeira do Ferreiro and the Poço do Bacalhau. I explored the Azores, a Portuguese archipelago of 9 islands in the Atlantic Ocean for 2 weeks.

Looks like quite some adventurous trails. The large wall with all the waterfalls was my absolute favorite. We have not been to the Azores yet, but it seems they need to move back up on the list. It looks just wonderful.

@@Worldwanderista it sure looked like a place that would be just up our alley as well. I knew before that we have to visit some time, but I am now more convinced than ever.

Glad you discovered and enjoyed Flores. I grew up here and visit regularly. Believe it or not that sound of those birds can still put me to sleep to this day. Don't tell too many people this place exists. 😉

Already visited in 2015 and fell in love! I’m not tagging it too much on my socials and I was glad to see flights were still small and hotels were still very limited on this island. I hope it will stay forever like this!

@@Worldwanderista If you're still there, there's a path up the cliff that Poco do Bacalhau is on that will take you to the top. The views from the top are unbelievable especially on partly cloudy days as you can see the clouds below and around you. The path is an old path the a lot of the local farmers would take daily, sometimes multiple times per day. It's about an hour climb on narrow rocky switch backs and be careful on the way down as it can be slick when wet. Halfway up there's a fountain that feeds from a spring that has some of my favorite tasting water in the world. It's a workout but I think it's worth it in my opinion. I'm from Faja Grande so I know some cool spots around there, feel free to ask if you want any other more out of the way suggestions.
