At 14 my Mother lost her Mom to cancer. She did what she could to take care of her. My Mom loved this song and cried every time it came on the radio and always asked me to learn how to sing it. But I could never get passed the first verse without crying. 2 monthes ago at 49 my Mom passed from her 8 month battle with cancer and this song just resonates in my head and heart. I came home to take care of her.I miss her so much and listen to this song to feel like I am connected to her thru it.
My sister loved this song. Her daughter sang it to her in her dying bed back in 2003. Whenever i hear this beautiful song it brings me back to that moment when the family was all gathered around my sister Lucie while her daughter sang this back to her. Lucie lost her battle to cancer on september 9, 2003 at a yougn age of 38. I miss my sister every day, but i find peace in knowing she is up in Heaven and at peace, and not more pain. Thank you for this beautiful song. God bless
I was at a hockey game several years ago. It was a tribute game to the Windsor Wildcats and I was there as the superfan for the Oakville Ice women's hockey team. Amy preformed this song live and I cried the whole time because I had lost my dad just a few months before the Windsor Wildcat tragedy. I will never forget how much this song meant to me.
I would like to dedicate this song to all the mothers in the world and to all the mothers that had loss their mothers. No one can feel your pain unless they've experienced themselves. I'm very grateful for my mom, who is still alive, just thinking about not having my mom around when I'm older, already brought tears to my eyes. This song is so wonderful but sad at the same time. You sang wonderfully Amy Sky.
Love this song... My mom chose this song for me when i was a baby.. She always listened to it while crying. But im always there for her.. Also,September afternoon is when i was born!
My mom lost her battle to cancer January 14th of this year. She loved this song I use to sing it to her on her birthday. She battled all odds and lived longer then all the doctors said. I miss her so much, but I know she is with Jesus and not suffering anymore. Love you so much mom.
I remember moving to Canada form the middle east. I had never heard modern music or been to a concert. We got to go to her for the first concert and go behind stage to look at Amy in her dressing room, looking at herself in the mirror getting ready to go on stage. It was the most modern thing coming from a girl who had never known America or other religions existed. Will never forget
Like so many others have said, this song touches a deep and very personal spot within me. I also can't listen to it without tearing up...but I love it so much. So I have two things to say... Thank you Amy for writing such a beautiful song about the cycle of life. And... Marc Jordon is a lucky man LOL God bless you both
my daughter was born with heart problems and had a very scary birth. when she came out of neonatal intensive care I sung this song to her every night and to this day I sing it to her every night :) shes 10 years old now :) Love you My Angel xoxox
I love this song. Always brings me to tears. My sister pointed out years ago that this song was written for me. The only things off are the months. I was born October 1961. Got married July 1985. My mother died in heart surgery November 1. 1989. I miss her so much. Cry every time I hear this song My daughters were born in June 1989 and October 1993. So I add two years and remove two years to make it 1991.
My mother would sing me this song when I was a newborn in the hospital; I was in such distress that I was placed into a clear plastic tent and my mama thought she was going to lose me. Ever since then, it's been our song.
A beautiful song I want to play at my daughter's wedding. It was a miracle she survived the birth. This is timeless song and brings tears to my eyes. A mother's love for her daughter beautifully explained. Played it a million times. Thanks Amy for such an amazing song that will, stand the test of time. Love you
The first time i heard this song it was at work, i couldn't listen to the full song, i ran to the restroom and had a long cry, it has been one of favorite ever since.
I dedicate these lyrics two my two daughters. I was the first man to hold them and to love them the most. Yup, tears roll down my cheeks whenever I hear this tender song. Thank you, Amy.
I couldn't believe i was laying there waiting to have a baby, when all of a sudden this song comes on.That tells me it was meant to be for sure.i had a beautiful baby girl.she is still my angel today:)
Sometimes when I start thinking about my daughters and I'm fill with so much love I remember this song. It also reminds me of my parents. This song makes you feel so much.
Boy it's taken me 14 years to listen to this song again. :( Boy mom am missing you still today. They say with time, it gets easier. I don't know about that. Am sending my hugs kisses and love. To you Mom on the wings of an Angel to heaven for you.
Brings tears to my eyes, every time I hear it... It always brings memories of my mother, whom I cared for, for the last 12 months of her life - 10 years ago. And when I became a mother, I thought of and heard this song again.... Amy has expressed part of an emotion I couldn't put into words. Thank you Amy!
I love this song. I almost cry when I hear it and I'm never really emotional. It jsut reminds me of all my mom did for me. She works alot so she not always there but she always makes it to my concerts and stuff. I truly love her and this song.
This has been mine and my daughters song since it came out and she was only young. We are very close and when i hear this song it brings tears to my eyes everytime.
This song reminds me so much of my mom, my sister, and my niece. I am simply privileged to be able to see them going through life together, even with hardships and sacrifice. Never ignore the power of family.
This was one of the first songs I heard after my daughter was born 21 years ago today. She had numerous health problems for the first 5 years and this song was the anthem to keep me strong for her in the hospital visits.
Just wanted to share how your music inspires me. My mom and I loves your music, the first time I heard your music was when my mom was so tired from her work (working double job as she is a single mom, she's my hero) driving home at night, she always always plays your songs, as one night I started singing your song even without the music playing. Now that I live far from her, across Canada. Everytime I needed strength and courage, I play all your songs and reminds me of her, how strong she. I often cry listening to your song, how meaningful your music to everyone. I thank you for making such great music. I also know the story behind this song and if I can make songs for my mom, Zoe is such a lucky girl to have you as her mother. More bless for you :)
Stumbled on to this song. I was listening to the radio and I heard "Marina Del Rey" and couldn't remember who did it. Google!! It was done by Marc Jordan who is married to Amy Sky. So I decided to You Tube Amy Sky and heard this song. WOW!! I haven't heard a song in a long time that immediately brought tears to my eyes. This has only 250,000 hits. More parents need to see this. The worst that can happen is they become better parents. Fantastic Job Amy!!!!!
I had my baby girl on SEPT 16 1998.when i was in the hospital this song came on the radio boy oh boy did i cry cause the doctor's told me i couldn,t have children.
This song makes me think of my mom. It came out the year my mom was in the hospital. When she was in the hospital i use to go to the hospital to take care of her then when she went home i went there to take care of her.
it really gets to me, because my father and I were born in the same month, and I was born a year after his father passed away. I always think of my dad when I hear this song.
I absolutely adore this song. I heard this song many years ago before I had my children (I think...its all a bit of a blur to be honest) I never realized what a full circle motherhood is. You have captured that beautifully in this song. All of my children have special needs (autism) and I would often sing the chorus to them when they were babies. The tears I have shed have been what you said...healing to the soul. Thank you for sharing your wondeful gift with us Amy!
everytime she sings about the hospital part, i cant help but cry!!!!!!!!it took so long for the music video to get on youtube, thnx for posting it!!!!☺
This is me and my mom's favourite song and everytime i listen to it i cry cuz i think about how i would feel and what i would do if my mom loved me and then i just lost her...
Amy..Thanks for creating such a beautifull heartfelt song. I usually hear this song playing when i am in a store or something and every time i hear it tears roll down my face. It reminds me so much of my Mom who passed away in 1993. You are a very gifted artist. Thanks again
Considering that I almost never listen to "Soft Favourites" (Punk/Metal/Rock/Ska/Classic Rock to name a few), it's a testament to the strength of your (assuming this is the real Amy Sky or in the case that it's not 'her') songwriting abilities that this song still resonates with me.
this song brings tears to my eyes. because one night my mom and my sis and i had a few drinks and we think something was put in my moms drink anyway when we got home she could hardly breathe and she was so sick she couldnt move off the couch and i sat with her all night and held her hand and i could hear her wheezing and i listented to this song on my ipod and stayed up with her all night. and she thanked me in the morning and i said: I took care of you! just like the song and we both cried.
This Song expresses a story that most Women seem to #identify with... Children and their respective WELCOMING is the Most Powerful bonding tie, that Women get to experience. We [as "Guys] need to be Grateful for their respective trauma and dedication bringing our Kids into our world. Their essential nurturing is Unique and Special that us Men should respect. Their BOND is something we can't have, but must encourage, as Kids need nurturing! Yes, Fathers are CRUCIAL Too, but this Bond that women have is THERE... Thank You AMY for writing such a POWERFUL TUNE!! ❤
i was at work and i heard this song last week...and i told one of the guys i was working witht that this is such a powerful song and he laughed at me...i guess it depends on wut u like or ur situation for me it was a powerful song because growing up it was just my mom and i and she loved me unconditionally and took very good care of me until i was 11 as that was wen she passed away i miss her very much and this song reminds me of her everytime i hear it..
oh my gosh this song always make me cry inside but i can always hold it in most times but watching the actual MV makes me nostop cry! this song is sooo meaningfukl! its werid and my family doesn;t plan this but every Sunday night after visiting my grandparents coming home, we ALWAYS hear this song its been 19 years! :P l'll never forget this song no matter what or when

I remember and love this song from when I was young and still living in Canada, but it didn't take anything more than reading your description to start me crying.
This is a wonderful song and truly moving. I had heard it a long time ago and I'm so glad that I found it again. Isoäiti , I-KIRJAIN lempiä te , elatus taisteleva.
Amy made a new recording of this song in the album "Liv On", a beautiful and moving album created with Olivia Newton-John and Beth Nielsen Chapman. Do check that out; it's quite a poignant experience to hear Amy sing this with a more mature voice and the updated arrangement which features her skilled piano playing.
How can you not love this song? Canadian love from Orillia Ontario.

Of all genres, this has to be one of the BEST Canadian songs of all time, I don't think Amy Sky got nearly enough recognition for this song!
Like so many others have said, this song touches a deep and very personal spot within me. I also can't listen to it without tearing up...but I love it so much. So I have two things to say... Thank you Amy for writing such a beautiful song about the cycle of life.

I have always loved this song, thank you for this beautiful song that has touched the heart of millions.

This song is one of my favorites around my daughter's birthday, September 23rd, and she will be 23 this year. It never fails to touch my heart.
She is in heaven now. God bless you!
