- Billionaire Jim Ratcliffe, the part-owner of #manchesterunited football club, says the #premierleague risks harming itself because of complicated rules designed to prevent teams from over-spending on players. “I just think the Premiership needs to be careful it doesn’t get itself into an endless legal wrangle with lots and lots of clubs." Ratcliffe said during an interview with Bloomberg’s Francine Lacqua. "If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”

Good to see some communications from leadership for the first time in years.
He's done a couple of interviews before. But, I know what you mean. It's good to hear from those in charge. Especially when they've got the clubs best interests at heart. Already upgrading Carrington costing £50m.
He’s full of 💩
He’s right, it’ll just stop the premier league clubs competing with European peers
Mate we are already driving our European “peers” into the water with the amount we can spend. A bottom table prem team can outspend a top German and Italian team. I thinks the rules are fine
Lol, look at the results of English clubs at European compatitions. And even for this dishonest man Radcliff, to mention PSG, which have nothing to show for their money pumping. Full of nonsense the argument.
@@FootballTransfersDaily I think the rules are probably a lot more complicated than they seem to us. Like he mentioned in the other part of the interview, for example, that UEFA and the Premier League have 2 different sets of FFP rules, and the fact that you don't know how much you can spend, for example in January, because you don't don't how the books are going to balance out in the summer.
It must be kind of like not knowing when bills are going to come out of your bank account on any given day, and not knowing how much money you're going to get paid at the end of the week, and if you spend money at the wrong time you lose your house and go to jail.
@@JoeBob79569 I think the analogy is a bit far off we are talking about clubs which make hundreds of millions in revenue. if it’s being run that poorly that you can’t predict or buy players in January then DONT buy players in January. They shouldn’t be able to throw money at issues as with any competition and business football requires a methodical and structured approach to building and becoming successful that what makes it a sport. And although I partially agree with you regarding the two sets of rules clubs have been navigating this easily for years but now as soon as there is more money in our games specifically then it becomes a problem because they wanna spend more
@@FootballTransfersDaily why is that an issue?
That’s a problem for the German league to fix, the reality is it will create an NBA type league where top players will get all the money and the average/lower end players get peanuts in comparison.
This doesn’t work, imagine it in any other industry it’d be ludicrous
Don’t stop the top clubs from spending what they want just the rest.
The caption showed
"Would you ever sell knees " 😂😂
You don't need to own multiple clubs in order to consistently send young players on loan to Nice. United used to have a partnership with Royal Antwerp for this reason. The INEOS multiclub ownership has prevented United from signing Todibo and almost prevented United from competing in the Europa League next season. Sell Nice ASAP Sir Jim.
He just does not want competition ! 'Middle Clubs' can still compete, let their owners spend what they can afford, PSR is orchestrated by clubs worried about their European places.
The only time when these unmonitored and illegal spendings are brought into the system and actioned upon, someone comes and says that it is unwarranted for. Being a new owner his hands are tied and now he is complaining that the Premiership should ease the rules. Anyway UEFA will impose those and Premiership doing that makes it's competition healthy similar to that of UEFA. Rather than cribbing about the PSR rules, make sure the signings are good and the club is run in a way that it is profitable. All these rules are put in place just to make sure there is no dominance by a single club and I believe it should stay that way.
Spending limits are a concern in Spain as well but if you do not moderate spending to revenue then you will see bankruptcies when downturns inevitably happen.
SJR has no money anyway I'm sure Glazers not going to put hand in pocket
We're not getting Todibo 😔
There way. But confusing to end his contract then pay him outright his existing contract that be mufc contract
@@ALAXUKNUTRITIOUSLTD jimratshit is going to drain United way more than Glazers ever did. Now we are missing out on targets because of his greed. GLAZERSOUT JIMRATSHITOUT INEOSOUT
You should not be allowed to own or have an interest in two clubs it’s ridiculous 🤬🤬
So its ok for City to be a member of 12 clubs?
@@dave6445 no it’s not right for any club in the premier league doing it
Tbh I wish he would just pay his taxes instead of spouting on about how unfair rules are.
In the PL for 2 seconds and already telling everyone how they should be doing their jobs 🤦
He is talking about British football as a whole.
Absolutely 💯. They Sit In These End Of Season Meeting An Screw Things Up Plainly
It's not the premiership he can't even get the name of the league right!
Seriously! He also said the league is fifteen years old. 😐
He was referring to when it turn to English premier league … 😊😅
@steve-ki9iv
Talk about nit picking I call it the premiership or the league!! How old are you 6,7,8 years old fflips sake 3:09!!!
@@WayofWyrd premiership is rugby 😂
A lot people call it the premiership, EPL, league or premier league.
He's a businessman, and he doesn't want to be restricted on how much he can spend. Football really isn't on his mind, it's money.
Not been the Premiership for 24 years He also must have a good memory in quoting "northern expressions" he left the north 60 years ago He's right about the rest though
Jim is an absolute fool. The premier league is broken that’s why city are dominating. He doesn’t like the fact the club he has bought a stake in, will suffer from the rule changes. He wants to keep the monopoly and not let other teams compete. Then he plays the boohoo look at us card. Embarrassing.
Is anyone shocked this guy doesn’t like financial rules and regulations? A football club is not simply a business - it’s a social good that requires safeguarding to protect it
Whatever it takes to empty your pockets.
The current Premier League (not the Premiership) is already doing itself serious harm. He distanced itself from Masters very subtly here by praising Scudamore and Allison Brittain. Multi club is here to stay as far as Jim is concerned. You will start see the old American Cartel breaking-up as Ratcliffe is very different from the Glazers - who are now “hands off” and just counting the millions they’re siphoning out of a visibly crumbling Old Trafford (England’s 4th Highest Waterfall). Meanwhile at the Etihad, as part of a £300m INVESTMENT a superb new stand is rising, along with a 400bed hotel and a huge covered fanzone. Watch daylight start to appear between United and Liverpool, Arsenal etc. Liverpools Chairman wanting games played in the USA gave the game away and - although the sycophantic English press avoid saying it - Liverpool (supported by the Glazers) were behind the European super League. Much easier to make up silly charges about City ! Anyway that nonsense is nearly over.
Liverpool are the only reason viewing figures worldwide , why the TV companies pay so much for English football
The TV money goes where Liverpool goes
they have been arguing about which league Liverpool plays in since 1976
As usual manure fans pointing finger at Liverpool except themselves
lmao, ofcouse city are innocent 😂😂 its liverpool and united who are the cheats, typical arab mentality, always the victims
@@stephenjames227 you’ve no idea what you’re talking about. You’re going to be very disappointed 😢 on a scale of 1 - 100 the chances of that 🤡
Masters landing charges against City are fkn zero. You’ll see. Ratcliffe’s already there. The old cartel is vanishing.
Talk is cheap!! Real Madrid will never ever allow rumours such as considering rubbish pie-faced SOUTHGATE circles around their club let alone to consider him as their manager. Just for United to be linked with rubbish Southgate as the new United manager under Ineos is an absolute DISGRACE!!! Even just an idea to have Southgate is absolutely disgusting ffs!!
salary cap should be enforced for at least 3 years before allowed to increase again....no player worth to be paid 100 mil a year....clubs could go bankrupt
Just a very rich businessman talking about a sport he clearly knows little about. Good luck United 😂😂😂
Wow! Feel sorry for nice fans. They’ll never be a top club under sir jimmy. He wants to use them as a feeder club for united. Awful!
Nice last won a title in 1958. So?
The man talks sense. 5:39
I wonder. Why he confused me with ”Premiership” the Scottish league when he also say Premier League. Only confused. But I like the spending rules, clubs must spend under rules and never with their own rules. Inflation, maybe more. I don’t understand inflation but maybe I do.
It used to be called the Premiership, he's an old man
He's old,it used to be called the premiership
Of all he said, that’s what you got. Grow up
He said the prem is 15 years old bc thats when city started winning 😊
This guys too honest with his answers. His relationship with the Glazers is going to be interesting 😂
I honestly believe we wouldn’t stop winning the league every other year if sir Jim was our owner for the last 10yrs instead of the glazers
Didnt even spent 1 pound in transfer. All they ever do is Pr spin.
I like how he js thinking about the multi-club approach.
Even if its a bammer we can't get Todibo this summer, it will certainly be a benefit in the future having Nice as a partner club
Barcelona probably not the best example to throw out there - it's only really Man City, Real Madrid, PSG and possibly Chelsea (allegedly) that are the problems, because they're all state owned
Madrid is owned by its members . Chelsea is privately owned
@@wengelder9256 My remark about Real Madrid was a bit tongue in cheek. They are owned by their members but they may as well be state owned as they've always received favourable treatment by the Spanish Government who have written off massive tax debts for them, overpaid on land bought from them and illegal state aid used to fund Gareth Bale's transfer and Saudi PIF's asset manager (Clearlake) own at least 60% of Chelsea
@@slartibartfast99 Clearlake has nothing to do with Saudi . It’s an American private equity firm . Saudi have funds invested , as have others . The Saudi investment fund has nothing to do with Chelsea . The Saudi have no equity in either Chelsea or Clearlake . Clearlake just acts as a fund manager as they do for many customers . That’s an entirely different thing . The Saudi own zero % of Chelsea , zero % of Clearlake . I
The Saudi fund has nothing to say about where Clearlake invests , let alone anything with Chelsea
As for Real Madrid , they received state aid , which they have , or already have , to pay back as it was illegal as per EU rules . This had a direct link with the Bale transfer .
@@slartibartfast99
Do Barcelona not receive sweet deals from their region?
Premiership? How's this bloke a billionaire lol
And what exactly is the problem definition in the Premier League?
What if we do a go fund me page for our transfers. By law if the fans chip in for a player. There's no laws against that. Every club should start a funding page
When did Meloni join Bloomberg?
Its only Man united who haven't competed with the big European teams.. why dont you stop trying to dictate to the league before you have actually done anything yet..
Jude Bellingham plays in Spain. The best players are not in England
We sold the team to Ratcliffe who understands the financial rules would not get Man U into financial mistrust in the Future. We we're sensible ooo
Man City created a monster. So sad, now everybody got to spend to even compete with them. They have dream team after dream team.
His club is the one that’s leading the charge to bring all the restrictive regulations in so other teams can’t catch them.
Delegate, if you need to go to court go to court those needed to stay in the field stay on the field. No, regulations are important, standards and policies are important.
In other words man city was right about the premier league and literally every other club is starting to agree.
But didn’t Manchester city just signed savio from girona???
Faactss 🤌 n not rumours.
Savio is a Troyes player on loan at Girona
Troyes isn't in the UCL as City.
City owners r just smart but ignorant fans don't get it.
Bottom line is he doesn’t like the rules but our club Newcastle are potentially the richest ever but can’t spend so it us who hate the rules
You mean oil money?
Like the view from your apartment in Monaco
Basically saying he want to use Nice as a farm team for United, wonder if the Nice fans and France football thinks the same....
Yeah but thats sort of like a public secret. its not rocket science
Do you mean like Southampton were a farm team for Liverpool ?
No shame in that.. dont think any player in Nice would mind the prospect.. the fans can be realistic about who they are supporting
Cartel can't have it all their own way, reap what you sow ..premier league interfering with manchester city the flagship for the prem league 4 in the row winners and premier league wants now to bow to la liga ....all because they want to punish city 😅😅😅 yet its all ok for real madrid to carry on dominating ....cmon premier.league sort.yourself out be proud of what your about to demolish
Yep they put rule stop newcastle spend and now they can't spend they want to change it
The TV companies pay huge amounts of money to Air Liverpool games , the most watched team in the world with the biggest viewing figures and the most advertising revenue
Now Liverpool are getting fed up with the money men coming in and paying to win the league via bribes and so on
So they are threatening to leave the Premier league which would destroy the Premier league unless it adopts a more competitive model
This argument has been going on since 1976 , about which league Liverpool play in
@KevinMannix-sf5zk the cartel clubs when newcastle got took over they stop them from spending
@KevinMannix-sf5zk Okay NOSTRADUMBASS.
Not a great sign that SJR doesn't know how old the Premier League is-and guessed that it's 15 years old-when it's 32.
He was talking about Scudamors time in charge. He muttered I dunno how old the Premier league to figure out how much of that time was Scudamor.
Premiership ? Doesn’t even know what league his clubs in
Also doesn’t know it’s 32 years old instead of 15 like he said

The name of the league was formed as the 'Premiership ' back in the early 90's. It's not uncommon to call it that in England.
Look at this big fool
We all call it that in the UK. Weird to get wound up over this.
Don't break the rules then.
