As soon as Berube got fired from the Blues that is when Toronto should have hired him.
It was a mistake bringing Keefe back plus giving Keefe a 2 yr extension at the time when you had Berube at home waiting to coach.
The Leafs would have been way better off bringing in Chief to set the table for things sooner bc all the Leafs did is have another piss poor playoffs.
Berube now has to see which guys will play hard for him & who needs to be traded this should have already happened but SHANASCAM is a complete imbecile & incompetent to make smart decisions.
I say that to say this he let Keefe be a lame duck coach this past season basically than he gives him a 2 yr extension aka a vote of confidence when he has only ever won 1 round.
They decided to have another playoff failure instead of hiring a proven cup winner in Berube before this past season.
My point to all this is that Toronto is always the last to realize bad decisions or deal negotiations they always get fleeced this must change.
Leafs upper management has to get more assertive & not be coddling these players so much they already are filthy rich & haven't done anything to deserve the money they are getting paid.
