I really appreciated your point, Father Mike, of digging deeper into how prayer can help us all to improve and hold ourselves spiritually accountable. Am I doing enough? Am I opening my soul and heart to God’s word? Conversion is a life long experience and this was very helpful. I am interested to understand the difference between contemplative and meditative prayer. Hoping for that in tomorrow’s session!
Amen. That's why it is always good to do prayers, readings, and reflections/meditations on a daily basis even though we finish BIY and CIY. We need to immerse everything we learn into actions as well. Praising God for everything, and Glorifying His Holy Name❣️ Thank you so much Fr. Mike and Ascension. As always, I am praying for all of you. God Bless 🙏🏻
Hi y’all 👋 I pray for you every day when I pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet. Vocal prayer is so important, especially memorizing the prayers. I don’t have the Hail Holy Queen or closing prayer of the rosary memorized yet, but I do all the others including the mysteries. I also need to memorize the closing prayers for the Divine Mercy & the Nicene Creed, too. One of the important things about memorized vocal prayer is when you’re in a tough spot & your mind’s not working you can bring up the memorized prayer & still talk to God. Just knowing the language of prayer through vocal prayer gives you a template to start your own extemporaneous prayer. God bless all y’all 🙏❤️
I personally get annoyed at the Memorare because it is often added to the Rosary. I like a simple Rosary without so many embellishments; prayers for the pope's intentions and such seem too much. I get the knee jerk reaction here we go again when these prayers are added. I feel my attitude is wrong, so pray for me loosen up and pray and be happy in prayer. There is certainly nothing wrong with additional prayer where prayers are needed.🙏
Thank you Father Mike for your teachings.!❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️ When I pray with the Holy Scriptures,I try to do so in the silence and solitude of my inner room, the place where Christ and I meet to discuss whatever He wants. I listen with “the ear of the heart” as much as my human condition permits. I try to imagine what it feels like to have “a covenant relationship established by God within my heart.” This movement from the written word gives me the opportunity to be present to Christ through the Holy Spirit. And wait in silence for Him, who is God.❤
Today December 12 is the Feast of our Lady of Guadalupe. Happy feast of Guadalupe. Day 346 which means that it is 19 days left of the CIY podcast left which means there is only 19 days left of the year 2023. 2024 is approaching so quick. Thank you Father Mike Schmitz and Ascension press and all those who made this podcast possible for us. Ave Maria Purisima gratia plena help us all to persevere in our quest to reach God only so, we can go to Heaven.
Praying for Fr. Mike & CIY 🙏🙏🙏 Thanks everyone for your prayers. The master electrician is coming back to my son's house on Wed. I pray that it is only a few breaker switches that need replace and not the outlets and all the wires in the two walls. ❤🙏
Father, may everything that I do this day, whether it be full of joy or pain, whether it be full of love or of grief, I ask that everything I go through today be offered to you just like Jesus offered everything to you. It is in his name we pray. Amen. 12/12/2023.
“In the morning, O Lord, You will hear my voice; In the morning I will prepare [a prayer and a sacrifice] for You and watch and wait [for You to speak to my heart].” Psalms 5:3
December 12, 2023 Do you have just a moment in time to pray for Souls in Purgatory with me? According to tradition, St. Gertrude the Great, was told by Our Lord that each time she piously recited the following prayer, it would release 1,000 souls (or a vast number) from their suffering in purgatory: Eternal Father, I offer You the most precious blood of thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the Masses said throughout the world today, for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal Church, for those in my own home, and in my family. Amen. In her account of another vision, St. Faustina describes Purgatory as a "great crowd of suffering souls" undergoing purification. Further, she says that the souls are "praying fervently, but to no avail, for themselves; only we can come to their aid" (Diary, 20)
Vocal prayer is good when we put our voices and hearts into it, which comes from the depth of our souls. We have to be attentive when praying with words. Meditative prayers are helped by scripture and other books on which we reflect deeply and make it our own, applying it to ourselves using the first three kinds of soil from the parable of the Sower. Here we pass from thoughts to reality and become humble and faithful. Then talk to God and make some resolution of carrying out what we have read into the future. 🙏 ❤🙏
Greetings Father Mike, Thoughts :- -> Message reflect with, "The Key Essence of Prayer Spiritually Articulate with Eternal Love of Lord Jesus Christ in every aspects of Life." -> Beautiful, Wonderful Words Father.. Thanks Team CIY, Team Ascension Press. With Prayers, Ranjith Joseph (R.J)
Greetings! Dear CIY community. Here In day 346 of CIY we learn about Vocal prayer and Meditative prayer. Vocal prayer is based on the union of body and soul, and we associate the body with the interior prayer of the heart which is united with the Lord God. In meditative prayer our understanding of scriptures should be deepened to the core of our heart like in the parable of the Sower where the seed fell on rich soil. Let's thank everyone in the CIY community and pray for FrMike, all the Clergies, all Seminarians, and for those including us to whom we promised to pray. Amen!
To meditate and pray is to remember how Christ prayed and also the way of His thinking that made His prayers effective and genuine. Christian meditations are about communicating with Go. This episode helps to know the details of it and how to do it. Memorizing Our Father, Hail Mary, and some other prayers is the beginning of getting into the habit of praying, being precise in our prayers and then learning the art of communicating with God because oftentimes, concentration takes practice. Thank you so much, Fr Mike and Team Ascension! I'm praying for you and for the fellow listeners. God bless
Vocal prayer associates the body with the interior prayer of the heart. It springs from a personal faith. The "Our Father" thar Jesus taught us is a perfect form of vocal prayer. Meditation is a prayerful reflection that begins above all in the Word of God in the Bible. It engages thought, imagination emotion, and desire in order to deepen our faith, convert our heart and fortify our will to follow Christ. It is a first step towards the union of love with our Lord.
Prayer is so powerful. As Fr Pat said, "A family that prays together stays together!" With all that is blasting the family unit these days we need to once again adhere to this phrase, "A family who prays together stays together!"
All of you people watching this please pray for a friend of mine her words exactly “I don't know if non-believer is the right word, I'm not affiliated with any particular religion, I'm probably agnostic right now, I do find value in the psychospiritual, maybe to say I'm questioning is more accurate.”
December 12. 2023 When the Catechism is complete (or maybe even now), consider listening to Saint Faustina’s Diary in a year and/or EWTN Mother Angelica’s Classics to add to your Catholic learning! Oh my goodness so much life guidance in conjunction with Father Mike’s Bible and Catechism in a Year!

My favorite vocal prayers are the Hail Holy Queen and the Memorare. Both prayers of intercession to the Virgin Mary. She takes our prayers to Jesus.
