Wes was one of a kind. He was escorting Jason and Amanda around town for a private gig in RVA years back and they walked by me. Wes and i were friends. I said hi, and he introduced me. He took a photo of me and Jason, and it was horrible. Completely out of focus.
After I finished my gig, I went to Jason's gig close by. I showed him the pic and we both had a laugh at how could so talented an artist take so awful a picture. Jason obliged me another pic and one with my daughter. Made some small talk and I went on my way. Little did I know that the night I met Jason Isbell would be that night in Richmond on high.
I'll never forget the times I was fortunate to shsre the stage with Wes's band the MagBats, and have my name on his posters. The times I ran into him at a Rock Show, or out about town or a local live. Always with a hug from my Tio Feeq.
R.I.P. Wes. You will be dearly missed, but never forgetten.

Such a great performance--this and "Cover Me Up" were the highlights of the show.
