Together, we'll unlock the endless possibilities of mixed media art and unleash your creativity to let your imagination soar. Let’s get started! (This is a video I made for another project earlier this year that I can now add to RUclips!)

Oh my god Denise!! The colours, the gold, those delicate gold circles ❤❤❤❤
You are a brilliant artist 🎉
These are some of my favorite! Thank you! 🤗
These two pieces of art reminds me of when we were kids and we used to swipe the window with our hands to see outside. In your windows I'm seeing a tropical beach scene as I'm writing this. 😊
That is a really cool comparison! I can totally see that now. 🏝️🏖️🐚
That's what I love about abstract..... you see what you see and imagination can just run wild! 😂 @@2lilowlsstudio
The first one at the top looks like two tigers crouching ready to run. Underneath is another one. So cool! These are so pretty. Colors are awesome.
Cool! Thank you! 🥰
Finally! Someone sharing art with crazy enthusiasm! You're beyond happy and up to giddiness!. BRAVO!
Thank you! 🥰
Oh I love these, I don’t play with my inks enough, but now…playtime!! I see leopards hunting in the one on the left 🤣🤣🤣🤣 ! I am right there with you Denise, all about the next shiny thing! Love it!💕🇨🇦
Haha! Right? Thank you! 🥰
Catching up on your back catalogue of videos. I love these; the colours are fab❤❤❤
I love playing in the acrylic inks! I need to get those back out! Thank you! 🥰
Love these delightful abstracts Denise…jusr waiting fora few more supplies to arrive then I am good to go…can’t wait…looks a lot of fun…love your videos I am working through them all…❤
Oooh! I love when new supplies are coming! 🎨🎨🎨 Thank you! 🥰
I have actually bought lots of new supplies already to add to what I already have but haven’t used for years…happy I could get the Japanese water colors you have and they just have the art nouveau set in stock now so those colors are a must…You have inspired me so much over the years Denise…first with your textures and of course I really thank you for inspiring me to buy my first vintage lens…❤️ And now with your beautiful fun abstracts…
@@patriciabeaumont4442I love that you are multi passionate too and don’t mind following me in multiple creative things!! Thank you! 🤗🤗🤗
It’s lovely to join you again Denise my love of animal art has kept me busy for years and I have often thought I should start with water color again and other mixed media..
I typed in wax to mix with oil paints into Amazon and it came up with lots of facial and body hair removal…🤣🤣🤣Is there a special name for this product?….enjoy your day…happy we will have sun today although it’s freezing cold out there…🥰
"cold wax" is what you use to mix with oil paint. Gamblin Cold Wax Medium is the one I use most.
Oh I really really love these Denise. Beautiful ❤
Thank you! 🥰
Yesss 200 pipettes, I’d rather have ‘em than need ‘em!! Plus I’m thrifty that way.😘
haha! right... I definitely have the pipettes.. Thank you! 🥰
STUNNING Denise!
Thank you! 🥰
I discovered something today. When I paint with my watercolors and I am through using one color I wipe my brush on a paper towel before I wash it out in water and my water doesnt get dirty as fast as it use to. This piece is beautiful Denise. I just got the Kuretake 76 watercolor set and the gold in it seems to be the same as the gold ink by Kuretake. Have a great day.😁
Great tip! Hope you love your new watercolors!! Thank you! 🥰
@@2lilowlsstudio I really do love them. GOD is so good to me. I didn't think I would ever have any.
Love, love these Denise ... some different ideas for me to try. Also love the angled parts of the video which gives you a new perspective on the paintings 🤩❤
Thank you! 🥰
Ok am I the only one that sees a bear and some leopards in the one in the left? Love the colors and technique! TFS
Ha! Love that. Thank you! 🥰
I l🎨VE those colors together. That Turquoise just really dresses the whole piece up.
Both came out so good. C’est Bon.. 💜🎨🖌️
Thank you! 🥰
Superbe création pour honorer l'Année 2024!!!
Thank you! 🥰
The brass nib pen was over budget for me here in Canada on Amazon in CAD$ so I purchased a glass pen which is similar in design to the brass. It works great in the Kuretake Mica.
So glad you got one that works with the ink! 😊
I had sticker shock on Amazon too. I have several glass ones,if I can find them I’ll try them. Thanks
Yeah the price is crazy here in Canada (as are many things on Amazon - some things are priced way higher than the exchange rate), but the glass pens I just saw tonight are 2 for $7.50! I've been using a regular nib dip pen that I bought years ago, and I can do circles and shapes with it pretty well.
I hear ya on price. What I like most about them = 3 things: if you lay them sideways almost onto the paper you can get a VERY wide line of ink, they hold so much ink you can mark make OR write for a v-e-r-y long time before you have to dip again. I'm talking a paragraph instead of a couple of words, and the ink flows smoothly, whereas with many glass pens there can be breaks in the Ink flow.
Will you please give a link to the pen on Amazon ?
An absoloutly stunning choice of colours and mark making. Very classy and not over done. 😊👍👍👍
Thank you! 🥰
I LOVE turquoise!! Think I´m going to try the left side technique. Looks so fun. See you in the next video 😘
I love turquoise too!! Have fun 🎨 Thank you! 🥰
Very nice, Denise! Thanks for the lesson!

Thank you so much.. its Not Just painting, its Peace of mind ❤

These are some of my favs! The colors, the large amount of white space, and the gold. What more can there be? Yummy.

Just gorgeous!

OMGosh. I can't wait to try this one. This is me!!!! thanks Denise
Have fun! 🎨🎨🎨 Thank you! 🥰
Fabulous, Denise !
Love the new intro !! 💕💕🤩🤩🥳🥳
Thank you! 🥰
Your work is amazing and so creative!
Thank you! 🥰
I believe the dropper is plugged up, if you take a pin and put it up the dropper; then, put the dropper in the ink jar and pump it it will clean out the dropper. You may have to repeat the process a few times. I always try to remember to clean out the seller before tightening it back on the jar.
Great tip! Thank you! 🥰
You have changed your angle for filming. It’s good. Love the turquoise. I don’t have any inks but am interested in trying with watercolour.
This one was filmed for another project where I had 2 cameras going. It is a bit if a pain 😂… so I do it mostly for classes, and make RUclips easier for myself with 1 camera. Thank you! 🥰
Just loved this !
Thank you! 🥰
One of your best!
Thank you! 🥰
What a way to start my morning. I LOVE you're work Denise, it all flows so beautifully. You and Laura Horn are my go to gals! Your tips are wonderful and you are so kind and generous to share all your knowledge with us. You just shine when you are in your element. xo ~ Barbie

DARN IT!!! been a stressful beginning to start 2024 for me, I have got to get in and do this style. Those are both so really cool. Pipette watercolor, who knew. Thank you, for a, beautiful class. Really lovely. Happy 2024!!! ❤❤❤
Hopefully the rest of the year will get less stressful!! Happy New Year!! 🎉 Thank you! 🥰
@2lilowlsstudio ty, yes having a son deployed and in the mediterranean sea, his truck was stolen, and we learned about it Sat, has been stressful, l. But it will be ok. Of course, he has the only key to it and well, i hope who ever took it, had fun. So, I am going to go make small art today. That always lifts the spirit. Maybe a pipette will be used too. LOL. HNY.....
Thank you Denise for all of your videos and the inspiration you share. I’m curious, what do you do with all of the artwork that you make?
I keep most of the things I paint since I make videos and classes… I store them in plastic art sleeves. Sometimes I need them to photograph and I use them as samples. Some I have framed in my house. I have given a few as gifts. My goal isn't to sell art - so I have not put them up for sale since I might need them again for something. ☺️
Love it! Thank you!
Thank you! 🥰
Wowww love it !!! ❤
Thank you! 🥰
Really appreciate these tutorials. You have no idea!! 🙏🏾❤️🥰
Glad you like them! Thank you! 🥰
Loving that paste too, Denise! Love them both…I especially love the color combo.
Thank you! 🥰
This was a most exciting video, so exciting that I bought the brass conical nib and gold paste. Can't wait to get them!!! Thank you for inspiration. I'm going to watch some other videos of yours but I hope you don't inspire me to spend more $$$. 😱 Love the abstract piece (s) you did here.
So glad you enjoyed this!! Thank you! 🥰
Love these the best of any I have seen you do. 2024 is going to be the best!!!!
Thank you! 🥰
Awesome paint day!!! Love your :marks" page. Thanks Denise.

This !!!! Exactly the kind of art I needed today! Thank you for bringing in the JOY once again. I have a set drying and preparing to begin another set. The turqoise is calling me today. Love love your pieces! Yay for the win, again! Denise - you're amazing!
So glad you loved these! That turquoise is one of my favorite colors!! Thank you! 🥰
@@2lilowlsstudio seriously, there’s just something so mesmerizing in watching the inks spread and flow and blossom. Loving this painting day and I haven’t even started mark making. Eeeek 😍🥳🤩
I love this technique, Denise. The colours work well together too. TFS.
Thank you! 🥰
I can’t wait to try this technique! Fabulous Denise! Thank you!

So glad you loved these! Thank you! 🥰
Loved watching the inks move! Love the finished art too.
That’s my favorite part watching those inks move! Thank you! 🥰
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I love that teal colour. I had a brief play with the inks that I had but I don't have a dark one like the payne's grey and/or indigo and I think you need that darkness to show up the lights so I'll be on the hunt. Very inspiring.
So good you enjoyed it! Thank you! 🥰
Beautiful pieces Denise! Love the colours ❤️
Thank you! 🥰
I love them both! You are a fantastic teacher..thank you❤️

as usual ... beautiful
Thank you! 🥰
Love the art Denise am definitely going to have a try, need to try and find a yard stick though, haven’t found one yet here in the UK. 😅
That one is a big paint stir stick - maybe try the paint store or hardware store 😊
Love these so much! Thank you for sharing your skills! ❤
Thank you! 🥰
I really love both. The golden markmaking is outstanding. I plan to buy the kakimori pen even though it is very expensive.
I love that dip pen so much! Thank you! 🥰
Great idea for storing your crayons, a little tin, why didnt i think of that lol! Really love the cheet sheet, i think some of the indian sari patterns are nice also, wonder if they are avail of a cheet sheet? Commenting really to say what a wonderful rounded teacher u are and how u helped me ease in to watercolour painting by your abstracts, before i learnt to paint anything. Love the ink tutorials, really keen to start using these in my work now. So thank u Denise, u are fab and your work is exceptionally beautiful! Xxx
You're the best. That really made my day. So glad you are enjoying my channel. Thank you! 🥰
These are amazing! Love the colors and everything about them!
Thank you! 🥰
Gorgeous work, I love it 😊😊
Thank you! 🥰
Absolutely gorgeous Denise -- I love how you have so much respect for the random (as though something outside of what you do is making what you do become 'art'). I will definitely give this a go -- thanks as always for the continuing inspiration 💟
So glad you loved it! Thank you! 🥰
I learned how to use crow quill pens as an art student back in the 70s. I find it interesting that today’s generation calls them simply dip pens. It might be that they don’t actually know the history of the pen. But I do love using Crow quill pens.
Great info. Thank you! 🥰
I was watching another artist and she was using a brand called cartwheel. It might be a liquid watercolor but the colors are so pretty.
I'll have to look up that brand, I've not heard of it! Thank you! 🥰
Love the contrast of the teal against the darker inks. It delighted me to see the inks run in the water beads on the first panel. Can you explain an ink v.s. paint? You mentioned the bottles were acrylic inks. I’m familiar with acrylic paints. Is it just the thickness? In watching you use your brass nib, it looks like you are just dipping the tip? I think I’m going too far so my lines are thicker. I tend to go crazy with the gold. Thank you, Denise. Hope you have another great paint day.
I dip the pens a little deeper now than I used to - this video is from a few months ago for another project I did and could now post here. The Acrylic inks are just super fluid acrylic paint. Still very pigmented. So glad you enjoyed this! Thank you! 🥰
@@2lilowlsstudio Thank you!
Wow Denise, this for me opened my eyes! I always worry about where I'm laying down color because I always overthink. Putting down the water in this way kind of solves that in a brilliant way! Love it, let the water do the work! That turquoise green is my absolute favorite color and these turned out amazing!! Happy New Year!
That turquoise is a favorite of mine too! So glad you loved these. Happy New Year!! 🎉 Thank you! 🥰
These turned out amazing! I really love your videos... So inspirational!
Glad you like them! Thank you! 🥰
What brand paper punch did you use for your mark making poster?
Super awesome colors today!!! You are so fun!
I think it is a Bira - but I haven't been able to find it anymore online when I went looking recently when someone asked. You might search Paper Punch 2" - and see what comes up - there are still lots of fun shapes you could do. The heart punch is a favorite of mine also! Thank you! 🥰
Denise, what do you have your paper taped to? Thanks for sharing. I'm always attracted to watercolor, but found it difficult. You make it look easy. ❤
Those are art panels: Hardboard art panels - you see me tape things down to these and they come in several different sizes: amzn.to/3C8EK3z Thank you! 🥰
@2lilowlsstudio thanks. I use Ampersand all the time. I hadn't thought of using for this. 🌿
Gold mica paint next . I’ll be broke 😮
Oooh! The gold mica from Kuretake is the shiniest gold!! 😊
Love this, don’t have the inks, can I use liquid watercolor for similar effect with the pipe the?
I’m sure you could. Definitely experiment! 😊
Love this! ❤ I'm curious, do you use your watercolor brushes with your acrylic ink? If so, how do you clean them? I am afraid I would ruin my wc brushes! Thanks!
I do, and I just rinse them in my water jar like I do for the watercolor. I just don't get too precious with my brushes - but it hasn't really seemed to ruin them either. You might try it with your least favorite brushes or an inexpensive set if you have some you really love and don't want to try it with. 😊
Thanks!😊
Try as I might, cannot find on Amazon the dip pen you use for the gold. Hope you’re able to find tome to help me? Thanks ❤
I’ve not ever seen it on Amazon either. I got mine at St. Louis art supply:
Kakimori Brass Nib - shop.stlartsupply.com/products/kakimori-brass-nib
Kakimori pen holder - shop.stlartsupply.com/products/sakura-wood-pen-holder
Hi Denise, I still cannot get my brass bib to make good circles after I used the toothpaste to clean it off. This is a brand new bottle of the gold ink but maybe it needs to be thinned out a bit?🤷🏼♀️ Also, if you sign your name do you sign in pencil?
You might try that... I just went to town when I got mine. Didn't do anything special really. I do sign in pencil. 🎨
Love this color combo. Denise is there any other place to get the gold paste? I've been trying for months on Amazon and they keep refunding my money?
You might google "kuretake gold mica ink" and "kuretake gold mica paste" and see what comes up for you where you are. I'm sure other vendors carry it. 😊
@@2lilowlsstudio Thanks I got it from Jet Pens :o)
Have you ever used glass ink pens?
Yes. I bought one to use with my gold ink. It didn’t do quite what I wanted. Then I chipped the nib. Needless to say - I don’t really like them. 😊
@@2lilowlsstudio😢 I was hoping it was a less expensive option.
I just checked out your nib pen on Amazon Canada. $45 for the pen and $74 for the bib. Ouch. I have several glass pens that have a swirled nib built in. Do you think those would work for ink circles? They are one of those things I just had to have when I saw them but a year later I haven’t tried them yet. I am a diagnosed art supplies hoarder. I have got to stop watching RUclips. Yah, right, lol
Haha. I'm a supply hoarder too!! You can try the glass pen, but I didn't have any luck with the glass when i tried it and then I chipped it. You might be better off with a regular dip pen. I use those too. This one just happens to be my favorite. 😊
You sound like you are from South Carolina, are you?
I’m in Atlanta 😊
