  • In this video tutorial, we'll delve into creating some rich mixed-media abstracts using acrylic inks, mark-making techniques, and more. Together, we'll unlock the endless possibilities of mixed media art and unleash your creativity to let your imagination soar. Let’s get started! (This is a video I made for another project earlier this year that I can now add to RUclips!)

When I paint with my watercolors and I am through using one color I wipe my brush on a paper towel before I wash it out in water and my water doesnt get dirty as fast as it use to. @janinafisher101 Год назад +2

      Yeah the price is crazy here in Canada (as are many things on Amazon - some things are priced way higher than the exchange rate), but the glass pens I just saw tonight are 2 for $7.50! I've been using a regular nib dip pen that I bought years ago, and I can do circles and shapes with it pretty well.

    • @timh7246
      @timh7246 Год назад +2

      I hear ya on price. What I like most about them = 3 things: if you lay them sideways almost onto the paper you can get a VERY wide line of ink, they hold so much ink you can mark make OR write for a v-e-r-y long time before you have to dip again. I'm talking a paragraph instead of a couple of words, and the ink flows smoothly, whereas with many glass pens there can be breaks in the Ink flow.

    I believe the dropper is plugged up, if you take a pin and put it up the dropper; then, put the dropper in the ink jar and pump it it will clean out the dropper. You may have to repeat the process a few times. I always try to remember to clean out the seller before tightening it back on the jar.

    Love the contrast of the teal against the darker inks. It delighted me to see the inks run in the water beads on the first panel. Can you explain an ink v.s. paint? You mentioned the bottles were acrylic inks. I’m familiar with acrylic paints. Is it just the thickness? In watching you use your brass nib, it looks like you are just dipping the tip? I think I’m going too far so my lines are thicker. I tend to go crazy with the gold. Thank you, Denise. Hope you have another great paint day.

      I dip the pens a little deeper now than I used to - this video is from a few months ago for another project I did and could now post here. The Acrylic inks are just super fluid acrylic paint. Still very pigmented. So glad you enjoyed this! Thank you! 🥰

    Wow Denise, this for me opened my eyes! I always worry about where I'm laying down color because I always overthink. Putting down the water in this way kind of solves that in a brilliant way! Love it, let the water do the work! That turquoise green is my absolute favorite color and these turned out amazing!! Happy New Year!

    Love this! ❤ I'm curious, do you use your watercolor brushes with your acrylic ink? If so, how do you clean them? I am afraid I would ruin my wc brushes! Thanks!

    • @2lilowlsstudio
      @2lilowlsstudio  Год назад +1

      I do, and I just rinse them in my water jar like I do for the watercolor. I just don't get too precious with my brushes - but it hasn't really seemed to ruin them either. You might try it with your least favorite brushes or an inexpensive set if you have some you really love and don't want to try it with. 😊

    Hi Denise, I still cannot get my brass bib to make good circles after I used the toothpaste to clean it off. This is a brand new bottle of the gold ink but maybe it needs to be thinned out a bit?🤷🏼‍♀️ Also, if you sign your name do you sign in pencil?

    I just checked out your nib pen on Amazon Canada. $45 for the pen and $74 for the bib. Ouch. I have several glass pens that have a swirled nib built in. Do you think those would work for ink circles? They are one of those things I just had to have when I saw them but a year later I haven’t tried them yet. I am a diagnosed art supplies hoarder. I have got to stop watching RUclips. Yah, right, lol

      Haha. I'm a supply hoarder too!! You can try the glass pen, but I didn't have any luck with the glass when i tried it and then I chipped it. You might be better off with a regular dip pen. I use those too. This one just happens to be my favorite. 😊
