I think this game broke the developers, even with these effort some people still hates it...and maybe that's why they refused to reinvent megaman for a long time until 11, also maybe why they return to form on 10 and 9... . And X continued these kind of graphics from Megaman X4 to X7.. .
I always loved playing this game all the way to the ending and seeing the credits with the great ending song. I really loved seeing the fan drawings. You can tell a lot came from children, who just happen to have the best imaginations ever.

I don't really get your complaint on the graphics blending in. There was only a few segments where the graphics blended in, and it isn't no where near as bad as some of the 8 bit game's 3-5 pixels only projectiles, especially any electricity based attacks.
Actually, only three of the Robot Master slot's had a base criterion. Those being a robot master with long arms (Clown Man), a two-headed robot master (Search Man), and a Split Robot master with a giant sword (Obviously Sword Man). Meanwhile Tengu Man and Astro Man we're both made by the developers, and the rest of the robot masters could have been any ideas (Grenade Man, Aqua Man, and Frost Man).
The gameplay is decent, the music IMO is bland, though some songs are good and the design, while childish, is pleasant and nice to look at. In my case it's because of certain sections that slow down the game (snowboard and shooting sections), the easy difficulty of the game overall (though some parts are a pain), the voice acting and that it doesn't give you the freedom to fight all of the 8 robots, instead forcing you to fight 4 and then 4.
The reason there are so many submissions with similar influences (two segmented robot with a sword attachment, two headed robot, robots with long appendages) is due to the way the character submission contest was run. They provided several "template" robots for fans to base their art off of. From the Wiki: "For this contest a template was given for three of the six bosses that would receive the Dr. Wily Prize: one boss character with a sword (the winner being Sword Man), one with extendible arms (Clown Man), and one with two heads (Search Man). The other winners were Frost Man, Grenade Man and Aqua Man. Tengu Man and Astro Man were made by Capcom" The templates were relatively unfinished simple grey robots with some characteristics predefined: Sword Template was a robot holding a broadsword with a separate torso and leg component Extendible arms was a long armed dwarf robot with large feet and segmented arms that draped all the way to the ground Two heads was a robot with two heads.

I think you might be right. That genie is dark purple just like Mist Man. I also saw what could be the origin of SharkMan. Seeing this art lends credence to my idea that ColorMan was based on Clown Man: Clown Man's concept art shows him sitting on a ball!

"Long-distance relationships", we have seen stuff like that before. You will see it in most anime, but long distance relationships are seen in to in 2 games I know of, this and Sonic 2 (Sega Master System and Game Gear).
i was bored today so i picked up my playstation and played megaman completely out in 1 rip*including pee and eat breaks* i timed it,it took me 2:32 hours to beat it :p

The Japanese version of the ending credit began with the song "Brand New Way" sung by the same woman as Rockman's voice actress before fading into the credit music above. You guys also missed the opening song, "Electric Communication" sung by the same singer/voice actress.
Wow, Auto's only line was "Alright!", yet it was the best voice in the game. Also, maybe Capcom sholud attempt a 128-bit Mega Man on the Wii. The system would handle it a heck of a lot better than the PS1 does with this one.

FYI, Resident Evil had the exact same English voice acting in its original Japanese release. The actual problem was that while the voice director was fluent in English, he didn't have mastery of it and put most of his emphasis on tone, hence the quality of linereads being all over the place. The cast turned in a much more consistently good performance in the FMV cutscenes.
